Anyone on here experienced it?

It's quite a frightening experience.

Basically it's where you are aware of being awake but the rest of your body is asleep. It often involves hallucinations, or as i call them, 'mini dreams'.

Three for me, and two for them.

Heard about it - it does indeed sound terrifying.

Yeah it is. I get it quite frequently. I heard it's quite common these days so that's why i'd like to know how many others on here have experienced it too.

do you know if there is any reason you get it? something you do? or a way to stop it?

Not really. I don't know much about bar being able to recognize what it is and how to explain it as best as i can. Read a bit about it online but still don't fully understand it.

I don't think I've had this... Maybe when I'm really tired and laying in bed listening to music... Like I can vaguely hear the music and sort of am having a dream but I'm still awake.

Sounds freaky if you had it with those vivid hallucinations.

Allegedly

I've had it from time to time, but it's not frequent. When I do get it, it's only for a few seconds at a time though.

Frightening is an understatement, for the first few times at least, I thought I was dead. Now when it happens, while it's not really pleasant I just think "Oh not this again..."

Heard about this on a show about people who reckon they were abducted by aliens! Waking up paralysed helps back up there conclusion that they were under the influence of some alien technology.

I was abducted by aliens once. They took me far away to this planet known as earth and threw me in a land called New Zealand. I've been trapped on this planet for 10 years now, and have been unable to escape the planet. Not a single ship has come by for me to hitch a ride on...

Without wanting to get to personal - could it be a side effect of any medication you may be on? If you are on any, it may be worth talking to your doctor/specialist.

According to this  http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/exchange/node/1804
there is quite a link between sleep paralysis and "auditory hallucination".
It suggests the causes can be high blood pressure itself.
In my own experience, high blood pressure from panick attacks can be caused by anything from high expectations/not wanting to look stupid etc to 'over breathing' / shortness of breath caused by not breathing slowly enough.
So if it were me, I'd have my blood pressure checked and tell the doctor the number of times I'd had migranes.  Good luck.

Maybe. But i can remember these episodes (or whatever you would describe them as) happening a fair while before i began taking any forms of medication. But yes it could be a possibility.

I don't really think this is anything too massive or serious, but i was interested in other people's experiences and how they've dealt with it or even got rid of them altogether, because they aren't really pleasant.

To add to this, Buteyko is a method of preventing over-breathing, which is apparently very common and causes a whole lot of bad stuff. It was originally developed to combat asthma but it is useful for a lot of other things, like depression, anxiety, blood pressure, digestion etc.

It theorises that taking big breathes is counter-productive, and while you should breathe deep into your diaphragm, you should not breath very much if you want to relax yourself. It is very calming taking small, slow breathes.

Sorry, bit off-topic.

Best thing really is to check with your GP. I've experienced it a couple times, certainly not fun, but never on a frequent basis. I didn't really do anything special about it, I just treated it like another panic attack. Apparently it's common for people to experience it once or twice, but as you've said it's frequent then it's defo worth checking with your doctor.

Hopefully that dilutes some of the stoopid!

Kind of. It's hard to explain. That's why i wanted to hear other people's experiences.

Right. Well I've had that. I've realised I was in a dream, at first, I could make anything happen, but then my subconscious kicked in and it all went badly. But I knew it was a dream. This was about 5 years ago, I still remember it vividly.

When I had a cold once and was on some meds, after watching the music video Kiko and the Lavender Moon by Los Lobos I kept seeing fairies everywhere for the next 2 days.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.
