The Greyhound thread - Run Stacey Run

I have seen the future, and the future is greyhounds.........

So I have just bought a small stake in a greyhound called Run Stacey Run.  It is running in Auckland on Sunday, and I shall be there cheering it on (Manukau dog track - eeeek!).   It had its last run with the previous owners last Friday night, where it romped home by a number of lengths, which was a positive sign (as I had paid the money but not signed anything at that stage), but this will be its first race with the new syndicate.

I imagine that watching it win will generate the same sense of pride and accomlishment as a parent watching a child win the Nobel Peace Prize, or get to the last 8 on the X Factor (depending on how high/low brow you are).

by the way, the race is at 2:15 on Sunday if anyone is interested.

6th I think, looking at the TAB results. 

Sorry - came 5th but could have done a little better with a bit of luck. Didn't start well which was a bit of a surprise as we were told she had great box speed (something that I also claimed) but seemed to be getting into her stride when 2 of the dogs in front of here got into a little tangle which kind of checked our girl. Finished strongly but after the check she was never a danger to the bookies.

Went and met the dog after the race and she didn't bite me on the face so that is a positive. Also spoke with the trainer who told me that as she had moved from her old place to us (long drive to get there, new kennel, etc) as well as going up a class, she was never realistically going to win yesterday. It was more about her getting used to the new track. She is racing there again on Thursday (will put the details up when I know them) and "she will run 10 times better then" so it might time for everyone here to lump the months rent/mortgage on it

Run Stacey Run is off again this evening (18:15, Auckland Race 6).  You can still get the fixed price odds of $9 for her, which is decent value as her live odds have shortened to $6.40.  She is racing in her favoured trap 4, so I am expecting big things from her.

If I add the amount I have gambled on this bitch with the amount it cost me to buy my share and the amount I pay for daily massages, facials and mani/pedicures, it makes me cry. I already have a wife - why did I think I needed another bitch taking all my money?

So Run Stacey Run is back on the track tomorrow afternoon, racing in Waikato at 14:25.  She is in trap 8, in race 8 and although the odds are not out yet I expect she will be paying around $8 to win.  Gazza used to wear the number 8 shirt and he was one of my hereos (mercurial talent with weight and alcohol issues) so I am seeing this as a good sign.

In totally unrelated news, anyone want to buy an umbrella stand that appears to have been made out of a greyhound?  Yours for $500

Well if all else fails Greyhounds give immediate hipster cred as pets - wear that flat cap ensemble and take her for a walk around Victoria Park and you'll be so ironically northern women will be whipping their drawers off for you

As long as you don't shoot the dog when it gets too old/chuck it in a river, then feeding it yappy rat things is acceptable.

She is running today at Auckland - race 9 at 4:55.  The TAB comment about her today is "was the victim of lousy sprinting luck 318m Sun. Downgraded after that".   I think that means she is guaranteed to win 

she finished 4th,but was in a photo for 1st place.  Heartbreaking.

Apparently she came 2nd - her first monetary return for me. Time to celebrate

So RSR has finally sobered up after finishing 2nd on the 14th July, and is running twice this week:

* Race 4 on Thursday night at Waikato, at 13:04 where she is drawn in Trap 3

* Race 1 on Sunday at Auckland, at 14:37 where she is drawn in Trap 2.

Lump on punters.

started alright then kinda ran in the wrong direction which made it difficult for it to win.  Not sure I have invested in the sharpest greyhound in the box.

Because when you shout "Run Stacey Run", the dog thinks you are calling it, rather than giving an instruction?
