I can't be offended because I'm too dumb to get the reference. Nice picture but a bit vague for me. Sorry, good effort though.

Edit: Guess 1 & 2 - is it a Don Quixote or High Horse reference?

I see the resemblance. My avatar is a screenshot from the new Star Wars movie. Directed by JJ Abrams, screenplay by George RR Martin. Be ready for some Stormtrooper penis.

Being made redundant one week from Xmas.

Edit: Fudge me just seen your post Surge. It's horrid isn't it?

Three for me, and two for them.

If my boss did that to me at this time of year and then had the cheek to say Merry Christmas,  i think I'd hit him. They could hold off till February and let people try and recover financially from Christmas.

where I work they "exited" 3 senior managers a couple of weeks ago, on the morning of the Christmas party. Escorted from the building (in front of everyone), never to be seen again. It is pretty ruthless everywhere these days.

I hear that is fairly common practice in the USA and appears to be spreading around the rest of the western world. Shocking way to treat people.

Thanks everyone... it's been a godsend in a way. I've become a little stale and have decided to look for a bit of a career change after ten years of doing training and development stuff and get back to what I'm passionate about - so if anyone is looking for an ops/service/business development manager, give me a shout :-)

I'm determined to make it work for me (boom-tish), and it will... onwards and up-ways!

I agree, It's a shocking way to treat people, problem is corporate organisations don't employ people, you are headcount, bio-resources, or any other jargon created to justify treating people badly. Sometimes I feel sorry for the people who have to make these lay-offs, then I remember HR is where the soulless C*%ts end up working.

Sigh, I think I have spent too much time reading Dilbert and listening to public servants complain about their jobs.

Surge try for a job at the Nix, they seem to be lacking in your expertese.

Seriously, this absolutely sucks for both of you. If you are going to do layoffs why not time it for the financial year? July.

In America they pull this shark then wonder why someone goes back a few weeks later armed to the gunnels and shoots up the place.

Flixter. i reported a problem, they signed off the fault without even. Onsulting with me, the fault still exists, they asked me to fill in their customer survey about their service. Which you can imagine, was full of negative feedback and as I promised them, i will give them some more negative publicity on the message boards i partake in.

Now they have asked me to create a new fault report for them. Great public relations.

Chant of the day for me was whilst everyone else was busy shouting "Yellow Army" a brilliant man behind me was instead of calling "Ernie Merricks", was calling "Donuts for sale"...he then followed it up with "Ricki Herberts". I want to buy him a beer next Sunday because the man in Aisle 22 Row BB Seat 104 (?) is a legend and extremely funny. Nice to have met you.

Sorry this isn't a pissed off thread but....it was funny as at the time.
