My uncle works in Sales (Large IT contracts), and everytime he gets a new job he gets 4 weeks "gardening leave" as he can't join the new company as still under contract, but the old company doesn't want him there as he's unlikely to be working on contracts for them. So they put him on paid leave.

So this is the punishment from the ARU right?
The courts fined him a mere $2500, only charging him with possession, not with supply (The quantity he had would fall under at least supply, and probably close to trafficking instead) and he got discharged without conviction...that's even more of a joke than the 6 week ban is.
I could understand if they had a set of rules around it where it said "first offence = 6 weeks" but either way the whole punishment is a farce.
