Another thing that pisses me off is that Wellington don't have a Carl's Jr franchise down here. The one at North Harbour was superb and the Burger looked exactly like the photo version.

Jesus no.  We don't need a Carls Jr down here.  I'm trying to lose weight not put it on; and spend my money on my kids not on delicious delicious burgers of deliciousness

Also, Chili Cheese Fries.  Your life is not complete until you've eaten them.

(But seriously, I'd eat myself into a coronary if they came down here)

Carl's jr is overraed and has a history of mistreating employees, the organisation behind it is firmly in the Trump camp and pushed to get rid of what limited labour laws the us has.

Anyway, tough to beat Ekim.

I'm just glad they changed owners after the old owner went on his Facebook rant against customers, can enjoy their burgers again with the knowledge that I'm not supporting that kind of reaction.

You can buy a burger from a burger joint without supporting every action and belief of its owners.

Sneaky shout out to a Burger liquor double standard.  With the prices Carl's charge these days it's not a whole lot more but it's a whole lot better burger (and I'm a Carl's junkie).

Maybe enjoy the burger in the knowledge that the employ in excess of 20,000 employees worldwide

I'm glad this thread has switched from racism and violence (my least favourite things) to burgers (the bestest things ever)

There are far better burger joints round than Carl's Jr. Bang average imo.

Absolutely, but they are probably top of the "chain burger stores"

Double Smokey my fave Burger Liquor burger.

Their marmite one during Burger on a Plate was also excellent, but not too dissimilar to their usual offerings.

Anyway, back on topic. Pissed off we don't have a Carl's Jr here!

Oh and at QBE it was only $10 Parking at the Stadium for anyone. Why am I pissed off with that? Westpac Stadium $30 would put a lot of casuals off and $15 for ST holders. was $10 till last season when it got put up.

Back off topic

Carls Junior is nice for sure. It makes mcdonalds look sad (allthough thats not hard to do). However, if I wanted to go get a burger, I'd go to either Burger Fuel or Burger Winsconsin. Better by miles

Of the chains Burger Wisconsen is by far the best, unfortunately in Wellington at least they're all in the suburbs and not in the city, and also much more expensive than the fast food chains.

I can see how the above can be considered pretty silly, especially as the commonwealth games is divided by gender but nothing that warrants saying "some don't like the truth" as if there was some sort of hard hitting fact in the article.

A lot of people don't want to be defined by gender, how is it a problem?

A post was hidden because the conversation had moved on and it did not seem to be overly sensible to reignite it.

I think it’s a bit silly. There is no need to avoid words.

The conversation should go:

“Hi sir can I help?”

“Actually I don’t identify as a man”

“Oh sorry about that, have a good day”

“You too”

All very mature, nobody got offended.

But I guess word bans come in now because the conversation can sometimes go like this:

“Hi sir can I help?

“DID YOU JUST ASSUME MY GENDER?! IM OUTRAGED!”

“I’m sorry”

“OH YOU WILL BE”

*goes on social media and writes a 20 tweet thread about the experience then starts a petition calling for a mass boycott of the company*

You pay for what you get though. I'm a fan of Burger Wisconsin, and would much rather pay more and go there than somewhere like McDs or Burger King.

Yeah the mods could have let it run and only shut it down if it got really insulting and personal.

I actually found the debate between the senile rose-tinted spectacle wearing hate mongers and the lofty smug PC postgenderist snowflakes quite thought-provoking

It's quite pleasing that we have such a rich diversity of YF members and long may it continue.

To be fair, the very first post on the topic was insulting and personal and it was still allowed to be played out. A hell of a lot of leeway was given, especially when a lot of the abuse was directed at certain mods who could’ve shut it down at any time.

However as I said earlier it’s clearly got to the point where everyone has aired their views, a healthy(ish) debate occurred and it was probably time to move on.

At a certain point it just turns into a mud slinging match that gets boring for people to read.

Chefs piss me off. Having worked with a few that were complete jerks who throw their toys when they don’t get their way. When you finally get sick of their behaviour and go to management they simply shrug and say “chefs are just like that” as if that excuses their behaviour.

A chef is a middle-management type position and therefore largely "run the floor" in their place of work. They get a lot of leeway from those above provided they get the job done and continue to make money.

Grievance processes will always be second best to the pursuit of profit.

It’s tricky because my position is a similar type of middle management one where we have to work together for a certain aspect of the service.
