looking forward to it, backing Tua but have a hunch it will go to decision. Tua is the better fighter but Friday has a chin. I'll be glad if Tua proves me wrong and does it in three, he needs to gain some momentum so the big guns stop turning down his fights.

He's in that awkward no mans land where he doesn't have quite enough kudos to demand another title challenge, and the champions don't want to take him on because they know how dangerous he really is.

Does anyone know what time Tua is scheduled to fight Friday on the fight card?

I know it starts at 8:00 but wondering what time Tua is actually fighting?

Heard on radio, the Rock, that TAB betting for the Tua Friday fight stops at 11pm.

EDIT: Just check tab, actually betting closes at 9:30pm

I think you could be right though (I guess it depends on Pre-lims) because it doesn't end until 12:00 a.m.

11:00 p.m. seems extremely late for a fight though... I'd be knackered by then.

Seems a bit stupid to have it that late.

Not everything on the Maori Channel is in maori. Just means they paid more for the rights thn tvnz or tv3. That channel actually shows some of the best movies around from all different countries in many diff languages

No, Bob Sheridan is commentating and he definitely doesn't speak Maori.

Most things on the maori channel aren't maori. Well last i checked anyway.

I think it will be a knockout,Tua will be gunning for one. He needs it to get his rep up.

I don't think anyone knows exactly but I think between 10 and 11, definitely not 8 as there is the undercard of fights to get through first.

The coverage of this was so bad, so often you could hear someone next to the camera speaking really loudy, especially when a "Tua" chant would start you'd just hear one guy screaming it and it actually sounded as if the commentator was doing it. Plus what was with the muppet introducing the anthem singers + john key as if they were fighting.

That fight really needed a knockout, everyone was expecting it too.

What a snore fest. Absolute yaaaaaaawn of a fight.

Didn't watch any of the warm up fights, but caught the embarrasingly cringe worthy "entertainer" and top international DJ Peter Urlich flogging the same dead horse of a song that he's been whipping for decades.

Was the rest of it as horrific as this? I mean, come on. Peter f*cking Urlich? Really?

edit: that ring announcer was diabolical. Helen Keller could've done a better job.

Peter Urlich was incredibly cringe worthy, I was temporarily embarrassed to be a New Zealand when he came in singing that...

The announcer was balls too.

I think fight-wise it was an alright result though, It showed Tua can go 12 comfortably and win the vast majority of the rounds. Also I was kind of annoyed that everyone was just looking for that left hook or the upper cut that Bob Sheridan predicted about 400 times that never came. It showed Tua isn't a one dimensional boxer, that he has good stamina and I think he answered any questions or doubts about his ability to go into deeper rounds.

Still, would have done a lot more for title aspirations to knock out a guy who had never been knocked out, that would have sent shockwaves and a message to heavyweight champions around the world. Oh well, we'll see who is next.

Are any more of the fights with Maori TV? I don't know if it's Duco's fault or Maori TV's but that whole show and coverage was pretty shocking altogether.

I reckon the opposite. Really bad result for Tua. Showed he can go 12 against a guy who doesn't throw punches and is constantly back-peddling, but not much more.

The only thing I can see on the horizon for Tua is a Shane Cameron re-match, and maybe a few fights against up-and-comers wanting to crack into the top 10 who now know that even pussies can go 12 rounds, without even trying to hit him, and still come close to a result.

Well boxing is just a mess... All the different organisations and affiliations make it ridiculous.

It would be great if there was some uniformity between them but it's just all over the show.

I have seen Tua currently ranked by differently organisations in 11th, 22nd, 33rd and not even ranked in the top 50 in some organisations. I didn't see Friday Ahunanya on any lists at all.

Corruption has ruined everything for boxing, it's shame.

It's also ridiculous that a champion can pick and choose who he fights like picking someone who can't hit hard who just lost like Ahunanya to keep your belt safe. There should be a set list of contenders in a sole oraganisation and a CEO who picks the fights on the merits and rankings etc.

Tua will probably never get another shot again just because it's a mess in general.

'Entertainment' before the fight was terrible. That DJ guy was the most woeful thing I have ever seen I think!

The commentary was poor also...repeated themselves about a million times and also were trying to make the fight sound about 1000 times better than it actually was.

The fight itself was just boring...hoping for better next time round but Tua HAS to do a little bit more - he's running out of chances.

Apparently heï¿½s about to do an upper cut??? Was a poor effort all round, they were adds at important bits during the pre match fights (which I thought at times were better than the tua fights) . Also noticed they played kalis - milkshake during rounds, Iï¿½m sure that got tua pumped. I hope tv1 or something pick up the next fight. If not I think I will just wait for the highlights on YouTube...
