I know Fijian is similar (in some ways) to Maori.  I learnt a bit of Fijian before I went over there a few years back.  A little boy I was talking to (about 5 years old if that) was boasting to me how he could count to ten* so I told him to do it in Fijian and he did it and all the numbers bar one were exactly the same in Maori.  And the number in question 'Rima' was pronounced 'Lima', so effectively the same.

*Wasn't at all impressed though.  I can count to way higher than 10 and I don't go around and tell everyone about it.

I think. Minus the accents and all that.

Yay!!

Mi espanol esta mejorando por linea (NOT google or babelfish).

Por lo que apoyo Atletico? Me gustan mas que Los Merengues.

Lo siento por mi espanol.

Ah, no!

Theres a few teachers names from the past floating around in this thread.

I used to be reasonably fluent in Japanese but I haven't used it in a few years so quite a tad rusty.

Also plan on taking sign language when I graduate and hopefully learn Portugese sometime down the line.

Rabbitt is still the man, he's teaching my Year 11 Japanese class at the moment. Watanabe has left (I never met him). Miss Campbell is now Mrs Anstiss and resigned a few weeks ago as she is focussing on her baby.

Big changes aye?

I ran into Mrs Anstiss a few months back when she had a few weeks to due date.

Miss Watanabe left in 2002 from memory and McNabb left way back in 1999 I think.

Have you been on the Japan Trip? Its definitely a trip worth doing. Been on it twice myself and did an exchange in one of the years between

At last count I have ordered beer in English, French, German, Spanish, Korean, Thai, Lao and Tagalog.
In Mandarin I know the word, which should suffice, should I ever find myself in China.

Usually the first phrase I learn, just before "hello", "how much?" and "thank you", and always the one retained the longest.

Bien.

Si. Al menos mejoramos de la temporada pasada...!  Kun es un jugador fantastico aunque
que parece que dejar el. Barca es el campeone...deseo!

Ah no, no mucho.

Which school are you booked in with? I was at Reitaku Mizunami during winter which was spectacular. Though playing football in sandy slush after snow was annoying.frustr8dstriker2009-09-22 08:34:37

Used to speak a bit of Japanese, went there twice. I can remember bits of it when I try. I also know some basic Samoan, but I understand it more than speak it.

Went to Tokiwagi Gakuen (all girls school ) whilst in Japan both times.
