Smackdown and ECW touring NZ in June!
NZPWI can today reveal that WWE's Smackdown and ECW brands are set to tour New Zealand in June.

Two dates have been confirmed, Wednesday June 11 in Auckland and Thursday June 12 in Christchurch.

Not sure how many of you here are wrestling fans, but I'm excited for this. I went to the first two and I wont be missing out on this one.

The Edge.  Awesome.  The chin.  Money in the Bank.

Not too keen on the 'Undertaker' - that crazy satanic 'eye' sh*t...

Still long for the 80s though.  The gimmicks were real.  He's the Honky Tonk Man...and "the sexiest man alive"....ravishing...

CUT THE MUSIC...

Steve Rickard was my favourite.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Rick Martel came to my Nanas house back in the early 80s. He did some wrestling over here in 80s with Steve Rickards promotion in the Hutt. Don "The Rock" Muraco also did some bouncing work in town and in the hutt also.

Even up until 5 years ago it was good.  but the intrduction of Cena as an unstoppable super wrestling who never loses and has the tiltie for almost two years is just plain stupid.

I like Cena! the baddies he has to fight are generally crap personalities - which means he can't lose!

Still flick it on occasionally, Little midget leprechaun may be the worst story line if they didn't use Guerrero's wife. Jeff Hardy is the man, doing huge Swanton's from 5m up. My favourite was Brett Hart.

Good mindless entertainment.

Ravishing Rick Rude, Brett Hart, Brutus, Jake the snake, The Ultimate Warrior, haksaw Jim Duggan, All guys from the mid 80's when it first hit the scene here.

Back then, less bullsh*t and gimicks and more wrestling. Instead of spending 10 minutes telling the crowd what you're gonna do and then fail to deliver, these guys just got down and did it.

Who could forget "On the Mat" with Ernie Leonard at the Wellington Town Hall?? Little old ladies shaking their umbrellas at the likes of King Curtis. Mark Lewin, Rick Martell, Samoan Joe, Sefi Afi Toagaga, Steve Rickard and his son Mark.

But I dwell on the past. Sorry. but to me Wrestling today is full of sh*t, At least the guys in my youth made it look real.

wrestling was so good when i was a young tacker in the early 90's. so many better characters. i dont like how cena went from being a gangster sot of guy who would do a rap before his matches to the cheesy yay america army dude. totally ruined him.

yeah the 80/90's were way betteer, more beat the crap out a guy rather than bore him to tears with wordy speeches - what's with Mr Kennedy - every match he has this momlogue about how great he is. They need to get back to the old school beatem up styles.

Macho Man Randy Savage... Feel the Madness...

Most of the guys on at the moment are the tiny guys who used to get beat up each week..
