How recently was he signed? Can he play in the Cup? He's only just recently arrived in the country..

According to Comet his transfer came through in May so one would expect him to play

Interesting as do you not have to be in the country before starting the transfer process?

Well I’m here and can’t see him. It would appear the prediction of an Olympic hiding is incorrect. Rapa with 2 goals in 5 minutes

Second time as was scoreless between the two sides in round 2 of the MPL back in March.

Thanks AW, forgot about that one. Which Tech player got the red card just before the penalties?

Jordan Spain received his 2nd yellow in the 118th minute. Great cup game which I feel Coastal had the better of the chances and should have been a couple ahead at the break and then saw a another two great chances go begging late in normal time.

Both sides had half chances in extra time. Penalties was drama from start to finish with all ten spot kicks on target with keepers saving five of them plus a couple of good hands on the other before Claps stepped up to slot home Techs final one and advance 3 - 2.

Great contest and a shame that one side has to miss out.

Some great saves by both keepers in the penalty shoot-out.

Coastal could have won the game, plenty of good chances, but as time ticked away and penalties looked inevitable I always figured this would swing the game in techs direction and so it did.

Are you saying 3 - 3 because Comet says 3 - 3? I see on Comet, quite a few of our local cup games are listed as drawn results. Isn't Comet clever enough to know that if the score is equal at 90 minutes then it isn't the final score???

Great afternoons entertainment at McFetridge Park. 3-3 between Glenfield and Onehunga at FT and after ET. Onehunga won on penalties (5-4 I think ?- first half dozen were immaculate and then deteriorated a little). Onehunga up 1-0 at halftime and then 2-0 early in second half until Glenfield stormed back to lead 3-2. Onehunga equalised and from then on anyone could have won although Onehunga probably had the best chances. Thought referee (Wilson ?) had a good game and at one stage diffused a potential boil over by calm refereeing . Glenfield don't seem to have the cash to splash as in previous years - Chris Bale their main striker. Onehunga don't look as good as last year. best player on the pitch imo was Porter the Onehunga striker. Scored two and was great running at the Glenfield defence. Pitch held up well after all the rain recently.

North Wellington 1 Western Suburbs 4

North Wellington battled hard and only 1-0 down at half time, Wests had heaps more possession but North Wellington had kept them in check and managed a few shots themselves

but Wests are a patient team and play at a very high intensity which wears down the opposition

Elijah Just was absolutely superb scored 2, Mohammed Awad and Noah Billingsley got the others

Was interesting to see Callum McCowatt lining up at center back instead of his usual striker role

McCowatt played as a 6/DCM not a CH.

Was disgusted by Sigmunds shoulder charge on the GK in the second half and his constant kicking of players off the ball.

There is playing hard and there is just plain nasty and the challenge on the GK was nasty.

Birkenhead 4 Western Springs 3 (aet)

Classic cup tie at Shepherds park in the rain.

Springs up 2-0 with less than 10 to go . Birko equlaised with penalty - last kick of the game.

Springs went ahead 3-2 in the second period of extra time , but Birko scored twice in last 10 minutes to take it out.

For a game with seven goals both keepers were excellent.

If Birko get home draws again they will be hard to beat - crowd really does ride them home. Very young team with only Hirst and Gray I think from cup winning team of two years ago. Must have been an interesting conversation that Hobson had with some of that team telling them they were not required. Would guess Birkos average age in the early 20's , less when you take Solomons out.

Springs not that great - Dickinson his usual provocative self - most of the Birko youngsters ignored him.

A game well worth an entry fee (there wasn't one !)

It was a bit more than a shoulder charge, he literally jumped at him with the ball some distance away.

Siggy was never an angel, but it was a shame to see him play the way he did today.

This shows the point of impact having already happened. Look how far away the ball is from the GK/Siggy.

Bays' first goal was a real beauty.

Amazing cup tie at Shepherd Park. Springs 2 up on 91 mins and slowing things down all second half and then Birko grab a couple of injury time goals, Zoro kicking the dugout in anger, Springs going ahead again in extra time and then Birko coming back again in injury time was incredible. Only 3 Birko players over 19 years old over the matchday squad, had their captain missing through injury and they never gave up. Not sure they have the maturity to go all the way, but if they get more home draws and then with the benefit of their 12th man they have in their balcony and huge home support they'll certainly give anyone a tough game.
