Lower Hutt 2  Miramar 5. Went to extra time 2 all at FT. Lower Hutt had a player sent (2 yellows). Quality of football played was outstanding!   Taylor Schrijvers and Joel Stevens were quality!!

Max Batchelor? for Lower Hutt was very good as well until he got sent for a second yellow.(Attempted to take Schrijvers out) Schrijvers was outstanding.  Should be a good rematch this week.

Round of 16

Miramar Rangers v Wellington Olympic, Dave Farrington Park, Saturday 6 July 2pm

Miramar, formed 1907 as a junior club by a life member of Diamonds, 4 x cup winners (1966,92,2004,10), currently 4th in Central League

Olympic formed 1959 by Wellington's Greek community, 1 x cup winners (2009), currently 5th in Central League

The first meeting of these clubs since last Saturday, when Miramar won 3-1 in the Central League

6th meeting of these teams in the cup, Miramar have won 5 to Olympics 1

MY PICK Miramar They are on a hot run off form at the moment

Napier City Rovers v Western Suburbs, Bluewater Stadium, Napier, Sunday 7th July 2pm

Napier CR, formed 1973 by merger of Napier Rovers & Napier City, 4 x cup winners (85,93,2000,02), currently 1st in Central League

Western Suburbs, formed in 1906 as Mental Hospital FC, 3 x cup winners (1935,71,2006), currently 2nd in Central League

Top of the table clash, Western Suburbs last years runners up but with quite a different team from last season

8th meeting between these clubs in the cup, Napier have won 7 times to Wests 1

My Pick Wests in extra time very hard to pick, Napier will have a strong home crowd behind them but I think Wests will edge it in extra time

Games in Other regions

Christchurch United (1st Mainland Qualifying league) v Nelson Suburbs (1st South Island League) My pick Nelson

Caversham (4th South Island League) v Roslyn Wakari (2nd Football South Premiership) My Pick Caversham

Albany (4th Northern League Div 2) v Eastern Suburbs (6th NRFL Premier) My Pick Eastern Suburbs

Waitakere City (11th NRFL Premier) v Melville United (7th NRFL) My Pick Waitakere (hamilton teams never have a great time at Fred Taylor Park)

Bay Olympic (3rd NRFL Div 1) v Manukau United (8th NRFL Premier) My Pick Bay Olympic to cause an upset

Onehunga Sports (4th NRFL Premier) v North Shore United (1st NRFL Premier) My Pick Onehunga Sports

Apparently Olympic vs Miramar is 1-1 in extra

Classic cup tie at Albany. Albany United from NRFL2 defeated Eastern suburbs NRFLP 1-0 . Suburbs dominated the first half and unlucky not to score and as the game went on Albany came more into it and scored with about 30 to go. Didn't recognise many of the suburbs players - only Tim Payne and he appeared to go off at half time. Classic scenes at the final whistle.

All happened in the last few minutes of extra time with Olympic 2-1 up. There was a disputed throw in which should've gone to Bubbles deep in Miramar half that was given to Miramar. There were words around that, and then the throw in was taken followed by a challenge that Olympic thought was a foul but wasn't given, followed by George B shoulder barging a Miramar player (can't remember who it was) and getting a second yellow. This led to more protest /argument, but it looked like it was about to be settled. Then it appears that Aleem said something to the ref (Rowbury), and he got a second yellow too. The strange thing was that Aleem was 30-40 yards away from Rowbury at the time. I don't know what he said even though I was closer to him but obviously a lot was happening. The second red then really fired up the Olympic bench, and as a result Easthope was ordered off as well.

I think Aleem OLy player had earlier given the AR a few good sprays of verbal. As it was the AR reporting to Ref that ended in the yellow.

But an interesting day with so many 1st team player out for the cup game.

Bubbles will never learn...I guess to be fair to Shaun. Winning the Chatham Cup is his on savoir. The league is gone and with the money that club has folked out they will want some silverware to show for it.

Caverham defeated Roslyn Wakari 3 - 2 after extra time, after 2 - 2 at FT.

it was Ahmad and not Aleem. Also, the referee and linesman have said it was a second yellow for a late tackle. I’m just struggling to understand when the tackle occurred. Maybe I missed it. Aleem and Ahmad weren’t giving the Lino any lip. cracking game felt like a derby again.

I watched this game, Olympic deserved to win, the game its self was not 1 of the best Miramar v Olympic clashes, 2 players each receiving 2nd yellows for stupid offences, then the coach saying the officials were cheats, not surprized he got his marching orders, the 2 sets of supporters should take a good look at themselves as well, all talking crap at each other, George N.and Brendan coming face to face not a good look.

Not quite - this is what it says in Comet

Wellington Olympic: 9 Ahmed OTHMAN (41 - Y1 Unsporting Behaviour - Reckless foul and 116 - Y7 Persistently infringing the Lawsof the Game); 8 George BARBAROUSES (57 - Y2 Unsporting Behaviour - Breaking up a promising opposition attack and 116 - Y9 Shows a lack of respectfor the game)

And here I was thinking it was just good humoured Banter between two clubs with a long rivalry

Funny, hear the same wording when players and supporters swear at referees, it's just some banter. Or they just showing some passion!

Bubbles have probably got the worst possible draw they could have there.

You have to beat whatever is front of you to win the Cup...good draw for a good supporters away trip and some beers...Cup away days are great. Any idea if Onehunga will likely play this on a Saturday or Sunday?

Thinks that’s pretty spot on would swap Christchurch and Bay Olympic

Why would they be suspended, they would have served their suspension in the following central league game!

I think you're right there actually, comet reckons "1 game suspension (Remaining: 0)" for both. I only went looking for who got sent vs Miramar, not how long they were suspended for
