Yea just saw that.  Wonder if Olympic dropped a few guys from their Cap Prem team as they dont have a game this weekend.  Great result for us anyway.

Couple of names straight off their Central League squad list took the field, Luciano Colucci and John Carras.
Not sure what the re-grading rules are but seems legit as long as they haven't played Central League the week before right?

Here's the rule for you:
Up to four players in total can be re-graded down from any one team for one match:
up to three players can be re-graded one league down from where their usual team plays
one player can be re-graded two leagues down from where their usual team plays.

A league is considered where the clubs next team plays i.e. if you have teams in Central, Cap Prem and Cap 1 you can drop 1 player from Central to Cap 1 and 3 to Cap Prem but no lower.

This could also come into play...
6.11 A player can only be re-graded once during any one week, including Easter and Queen’s Birthday weeks.

It's one of those things that the clubs that don't have Cap prem or Central League teams should keep a close eye on . If clubs don't complain when they think the rules are broken then the big clubs will occasionally try and get away with things. It's about a level playing field for all teams.

hay chopper, where did you find team list?

Also if a player or players are regraded, the club are to provide a list of the regraded players by 12pm on the Tuesday following the game in question. Not sure many clubs know this either.

I watched that game (Olympic vs Mar) that the Central League Squad list is from and Luciano didnt play, so if he also missed the week before he would be ungraded anyway.  I cant remember John playing vs the Mar so it is probably all legit

yea mate gonna be a tough 1,we were beaten 2 nil by them at home a few weeks back so the boys are pretty keen to have another crack at them and hopefully come away with the points, you think Olympic will drop players against you guys?

I imagine they will, I can't see why they wouldn't.

I personaly cant see why they would, when we played them all they could say was were a social team, we don't even want to be in this league, seems strange they would drop players to compete in a league that the players don't even want to be in, maybe things have changed since we played them

I would imagine Olympic as a club would want to keep them in the grade

I think Olympic are keen to keep that grade as I know someone who went to play for them cos the club didn't charge subs

Huge game this weekend: Villa vs Wests... Who is going to take it?

Hows the weather out in Masterton?  Will the ground be ok to play on?

Permalink Permalink

Match of the round has to be 2nd place Wests traveling to 3rd place Douglas Villa. Round one saw Wests come out 3-1 winners. Anyone got predictions for this weekend?

Wests might have one eye on the top of the table clash next weekend.

Grounds here in the rapa aren't too bad considering, it still has grass which is a bonus, could be a cold one but looking forward to watching the game, may be a bit soft under foot, vamos villa!!!!!!

couple of big games this round dv vs uh should be a good 1 on the turf under lights, first time under lights for our boys so will be interesting to see how we go, but by far the game of the round island bay vs wests , 1st vs 2nd , should be a cracker both teams play quality footy, will be a good game to watch im picking island bay in a close 1

Hope so villa4life. Wests are no doubt desperate to get their reserve team higher so will be well up for it.

Yea what a round this weekend.

1 vs 2

3 vs 4

5 vs 6

7 vs 9

8 vs 10

All games could probably go either way.  Huge game for us.  Wests are a quality team, we had to defend for long periods of the game in the first round to get the win.  Looking forward to it should be good game

yea the 2 games we have been totally outplayed this season were against you guys and wests kinda felt like in both games all we were doing was defending but still reckon island bay gonna edge it, as far as promotion goes we obviously are desperate for promotion aswel, would be pretty massive for our club, gonna be interesting 2 see how the rest of the season plays out

Heard there was a mass scrap in Stop Out vs. Naenae? Any deats?

Permalink Permalink

well that was interesting 11-1 loss after conceding 16 goals all year, upper hutt trying to tell us they only dropped 3 central league players, only recognised 5 players from the first time we played them pretty poor on there part if you ask me and rather embarrassing 4 us

Permalink Permalink

Upper Hutt first team squad has been strengthened of late so some players have dropped down  to the second team, so yes it probably was quite a different team to that enciuntered by you guys earlier in the year.

Adds a bit of fuel to the discussion, I heard a while back,  that the top 4 tiers should be first teams only...

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Are reserve leagues the answer? Dunno?

Permalink Permalink

mmmm well in cap 2 we have held our own all year had a really enjoyable and successful season but to be smashed by 11-1 after winning the first encounter 6-2 I think strengthening is a understatement, was the most unenjoyable game ive ever been involved in, the attitude of the upper hutt players during the thrashing was really poor talk about rubbing it in, laughing in our faces, questioning most of the refs calls, just been really bad sports all round, I did have a lot of respect for the upper hutt club before this weekend that's gone now

What a round for all the soap opera fans out there!

Result of the round has to go to Western Suburbs for their 4-0 win over first placed Island Bay. Who's got the match report?

Adds piss all weight really. Results like this happen in even the top leagues.

Upper Hutt City 2 FINAL 9 Wellington Olympicfor example.

There just aren't enough good clubs to support four top leagues. Let alone making aspiring central league players play cap 3 (which would be a heck of a league).

We were missing a few key starting players (leading goal scorer and two starting defenders), they were boosted by a couple from their central league squad, however this wasn't why we lost 4-0 and that result is very flattering for Wests.

We went down 1-0 in the 15th, through multiple defensive errors.  In the 30th minute we got a penalty, which we put wide.  1-0 at halftime, at to be fair, I went into the half time talk thinking we had the better first half, both teams had a couple of good chances.

Second half we had 2 or 3 1-on-1's in the first 10 minutes to equalise which we failed to score, they got a penalty probably 15mins into second half, which they scored, 2-0.

From here we tried chasing the result, pushed forward, both teams had quite a few chances, we missed ours, they missed a few of theirs, but also scored a couple.  Game over 4-0

However, after 11 weeks we are still top of the table by 2 points, and we dont have to play Wests again, so we just have to move on and get back to winning
Permalink Permalink

And also I must give Wests credit, they played to a game plan and did the job.  Especially when we tried pushing on they kept their cool and created a lot.  Well done Wests

I wonder if you and I were at the same game.

Having been at both the home and away legs, I remember the peals of laughter and squeals of delight from Douglas Villa supporters at our complete capitulation in the first round.  I don't recall anything similar at Maidstone, but then could you really be surprised if there was?

There have been additions to the first team squad that has meant quality players have dropped into the reserves, in that you are quite correct, but having been with the reserves exclusively for the past three  to four games means they do not require regrading.

I knew Douglas Villa would struggle on a pitch the size of Maidstone.  I did not expect the final scoreline, but as the first round result showed us, when a game starts going wrong, sometimes it just keeps going wrong.

... that's right... how many clubs in the region? About 17 isn't it? So, if not four, how many?

If you were to go down that road, and I'm not saying it's the right answer but it would be two max.

There are already four 2nd teams in Cap Premier, three of them are 4,5 and 6 on the table.

I didn't say anything about your supporters at all there did I, they can say and do want they like have no problem with that, was just the attitude of your players that was a let down, so your trying to tell me that pedro, parker, Stephen the guy Henderson the Spanish reserve that came on and 1 or 2 others are all classed as cap 2 players shesh you guys are gonna be unbeatable for the rest of the league if that's the case

I'm guessing U Hutt CL team didn't play this weekend.

Be interesting to see team cards from all the rounds at the end of the season.
