If NP Rangers get through their are going to be some travel difficulties getting a team to NP every 2nd weekend.

It's be done before, obviously with team Taranaki, but we are now in a different funding environment. I'm sure Wellington clubs are hoping to avoid the travel, but it is only 1 trip per year, per club, after all. Biggest impact to NPR itself.

I have heard the same dumb rumor twice, from disparate sources. Insider story :Wainui don't want to be promoted.

I have no view of this is true or not. Just passing on what I heard.

Would there be a fine if they were to default the play-off?

not the first time that chinese whisper line has been thrown around regarding playoff. They wouldn't be locked in a week out if they weren't!

Well... You have to figure the home playoff will be good for the club, in terms of food+beverage sales.

I don't personally buy into the rumor. Just thought it interesting.

not any really worse than Napier - both take about 4 hours one way

just think of the old days when you had a leagues with teams from Gisborne and Nelson in the leagues!

That’s exactly all it is - Wainui are wanting to get into central league.

yeah can see Wainui taking this out easily, no disrespect to NPR. both teams would be great to see in the CL.

wonder if any sort of a stream would be available? so far, the commentated CL games have been top tier

I would imagine Wainui will be posting on their Facebook page like they have been last few weeks

I would see NP Rangers taking this out. They are already hardened to the travel difficulties. A big win away on the opposite side of the island last week shows they know how to overcome difficulties.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Lots of goals scored as predicted.

Defending must be optional at this level.

47 goals conceded all season.

Surely the worst defensive team to get promoted ever?

I have been talking to a Wainui legend this morning, and apparently there has already been upwards of $50k already spent on players for next season, from all over the country. from a very reliable source - next season could be interesting especially if Wainui City keep spending the money like they are.

Well, they'll need to - because the team that played on Saturday (especially minus the striker who's going to Hawke's Bay) would likely get 0 wins in the Central League.

was there game coverage?

Perhaps, along with their alleged name change to Wainui City,  they are changing their logo to a bulldog and their colours to black and red for this secret funding.

I was brave enough to head out to Richard Prouse on Saturday. It was a very entertaining game with some cracking goals and good atmosphere, but the quality of play overall was not great in all honesty.

Definitely tight with the teams coming up and stop out dropping. What the hell happened to stop out this year, injuries or loss of players?

The loss of Steven Gulley was huge. Also think too many imports not enough Stop out blood.

interesting take

I think it was more Gulley and Corales retired and then they got hit by a lot of injuries and in the end just weren't good enough
