I'm not sure what that rule is saying?

I always try and get the ball and take indirect free kicks straight away so the oppo can't get a wall. Unfortunately Mori wasn't really ready for it and when the ball got caught under his feet he got hacked to death by three oppo players.

Anyways, in the Prem game SO didn't look they played with the kind of conviction they did last year. Perhaps their away record won't be so good this year. Caughlin (however you spell it) didn't seem to feature too prominently and was playing a bit deeper I think (though I only saw part of the game).

Olympic resies not that flash this year?

The Sharks v. Diamons game was nuts. Well the first half anyway (I left at HT when it was 2-2).

Diamonds score a long range goal, IBU go down the otehr end almost immediately to equalise- Diamonds score along range goal (Kepper assisted) and from the KO Sharks sneak back in.

Was shaping for a big score and 4-3 Diamonds didn't disapoint.

advantage to the defending team as no goal scored maybe the refs call in this matter, rather than give the attacking team another attempt as if a free kick is taken from the wrong spot it is retaken…..

Wharf had pretty much a new team? Well minus a few....mainly young guys, where did they all come from? Great game to watch

keeper Kieran was u19 keeper. Dylan Wood (lb) was the subject of NWs underage protest last year. Logan (cb) played resies last year. Two more McFarlanes have come in (Caleb and Levi - although Caleb was with wharf a couple of yrs ago). Ethan Cain (who hasnt done much with his footy recently apparently) and another dude Perry who was ex LH and Connor the scotsman all started. Christian Gray (u19s) was a resie along with another teen Isaac. Fordy, Cruze, Robbie and Will (who was suspended) all last yrs regulars.

You were close but Gaughan is how it's spelt. Was his first game back from injury and he is still not right. Not sure if he will be playing this weekend.

Finished with a win to Wellington United and a lot of abuse from Lower Hutt sideline towards the ref. I was only half watching the game as was there for game on next field so don't know final score. Just saw both WU penalty and a very well taken free kick from outside the box for two of their goals.

Edit: See from Capital Football website it finished 2-1 so I saw both of WU goals.

Wharf 0 Petone 0. Wharf were right on top for an hour and had enough good chances to be 5-0 up. Petone came back in the last 30 minutes especially after Cruza was shown a second yellow. Wharf did hit the bar with a late free kick. Too little, too late. Wharf with their young new team are playing bright and entertaining footy, but they will need to be a lot more clinical than this. MoM:  Bruce Duncan who kept bawling out positive vibes right to the end.

Nice to see Wayne Nicholls running a line. He is a legend and a world champ in his other sport and it's great to see him still involved, in his 60s.

Stop Out 1 Island Bay United 0.

    Nice goal from Stop Out.

Stop Out's keeper Matthew Everard made a couple of great stops.

Well contested match,.  Really well contested.  I've seen one description as scrappy and I guess it was but no faulting either teams' commitment.

Interesting personal point. An IBU player had a go at me, on the sideline,  for not going to retrieve a ball....

Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Varsity 3 Wharf 4. MoM: Conor Ramsay who scored all four for Wharf including one in the first 20 seconds of the match.  Wharf still unbeaten after four matches.

Memo WCC. I know it was a short week but the length of the grass was ridiculous.

Shockingly long at Seatoun Park. 3-4 inches the norms.

Slightly off topic for this thread, but the grass was incredibly long at Redwood Park last week for Central League and at Mirimar Park yesterday too. Maybe all the lawnmowers have gone away on holiday?

grass looking good as usually mud by the end of the season….
but it not as bad as some for long and they only had 2 days to do all grounds as rain has held grounds closed and short weeks so the worst got cut i think and some missed the boat….

I think the WCC guys don't realise how much long grass effects the game of football. We had an un-mown pitch in a central league game at newtown park last season and the game was painfully slow and scrappy. Hope CF have sorted it this time

    Fuck this stupid game

Have any clubs made direct approaches to WCC about these pitch conditions?  (Just curious is all...)

Wharf 3 Seatoun 0. For 30 mins it was the same as the Petone game -- Karori lots of shots and no goals. Then left back Wood lobbed the keeper with a "cross??" for 1-0 at halftime. Goals then to centre back Ford and striker Ramsay (his eighth this season).
