In saying that Top Left, I am sure most second teams have these issues as alot of players are on the fringe of first and second. The second is like a revolving door for fringe players. If you do not have a big enough squad you won't win leagues. These days you need to have a large squad, and if you don't you shouldn't expect to be winning anything.
No doubt and I bet Olympic, for example, have very good depth in their squad/club. We don't get help from our thirds. It's a mix of that and a couple of key players going overseas + students coming and going for us. I was just pointing out to Marius that it's not likely that he's seen our best team.

Reserve team coaches do have a tough job.
Its the inconsistency of the team that frustrates club admin. Good enough to beat Olympic fairly and squarely, poor against teams like LH and Petone. Red Devil seems to thing one experienced player would make the diff, but most of our guys have plenty of experience in Cap 1 now. Can't blame that or the coach he has done a great job. We have underachieved again no doubt about that.

well than you should be happy with your current league position/how well you have performed then and not be moaning about how sht hot you are based on a couple of spells during games when you had a good XI on the park and played quite well. jesus.

must be sort of dreaming then, because we are as good, not better, but as good. Warf dreamers getting their butts kicked by Olympic doesn't make Olympic a good side.

To be honest from what I have seen of Olympic I do not think they are as good as everybody has made out.

The times I have seen them they have been ok with some good interpassing in midfield but not outstanding by any means and based on what I saw on Saturday they get rattled very easily. Thats not to say they don't have some very good players it is just that they are not the world beaters people have been making out.

Top six teams are close and any team (except BNU) can beat any other team on their day. But Olympic are in the box seat and providing can still field players not on red cards they will probably take it out.

Hypocritical? Wellington United went on about better than Olympic after their 4v2 win. Firstly olympic's squad was at its weakest, with key players absent. Also they had 2 players sent off. While United probably fielded their strongest team.

What makes a good side - consistency... The table speaks volumes of a difference in class. To be averaging over 4 goals a game, while having also the best defense means Olympic are outclassing their opposition on a regular basis. United's record, far less impressive. So no United aren't as good - are the swiss as good as Spain?

Despite being "biased" towards Olympic I fully agree with above comment regarding consistency. Our boys have been off their game on the odd occasion however the table below confirms how good they have been across the board. they are a great bunch of young lads that are having a great time...
Guys for me the most interestring thing on the table is the Wainui resurgence..it is great to see them again with a chance for higher honours...wish them all the best.
As for our boys hopefully they will join the Central Premier L, at the end of this season...They certainly deserve it....

Do you think Wainui would have the depth to compete in Capital Premier if they ever made it? They're definitely impressing but I doubt they have the ability to keep up in Prems.

I agree that the best teams are consistent, that's how you win a league. My earlier point was that we aren't consistent, good at times but average mostly which is frustrating. I don't want to take away anything from Wainui or Olympic, both have been consistently better than us this year.

Oh I almost forgot, WU are sh*t hot. as.

I think if Nui kept the squad together and collected a couple of extras they could survive as well as, say, Marist. They had a few good players on the bench when we played them a fortnight ago. THey have got more depth now they had earlier in the season, but would probably need a bit more to cope in CP.

And that's not gonna happen. Wainui just need 1 more win to finish at least 2nd.

And they've got Brooklyn this weekend so it should be in the bank by Sunday (Hopefully anyway, otherwise the scrap for last will be even more intense!)

well they couldn't do any worse than NAENAE!!just shows last years backtrack on relegating them was a farce!!they have been shown up badly, even with a very capable team on paper. just shows that everyone was correct in saying that in previous years they did well only due to their imports from liverpool!!!have spent their $$$ poorly this year. good luck in cap 1 though!!!

Wow, settle down sunshine, wasn't having a dig at Wainui but just asking the question. Bloody well done on how well they have done this season, but what makes you think they will be any different from Naenae? People can criticize Naenae for getting players in but I have a good sauce that tells me Mr Singh received bling bling to go over to Wainui?

i am just suggesting i dont think they could do any worse than naenae, thats even if they did go up which probably will not occur!
as for the singh guy?? knowing ynui they don't pay players $$, maybe some boots and a few crates each home game!

Or a few tinfoiled packages hahaha.

Yeah no reason why they couldn't give it a shot. Will be interesting if they meet each other in a play-off game if Team Taranaki pull out which looks possible. Pity Naenae couldn't reform their original team that won Capital 1, was a bummer that Wheeler broke his arm early in that first premier season and that Henders had to go home otherwise would of been a completely different story.

I'm sure they just conceded 4 extremely unlucky goals, but were utterly dominant otherwise.

Anybody correct me if I'm wrong, but i thought the playoff system works this way. Naenae go down, Olympic go up. Wainui play KCU in playoff. If Taranaki get relegated and a Wgtn team wins Central playoff the result of the Cap Prem-Cap1 playoff is irrelevant and KCU keep their spot and Wainui also go up. But if say a Central region team wins the Central plyoff then the loser of the Prem-Cap1 playoff is in Cap1 and the winner Premier. Phew.

There was a suggestion that Wainiu would play-off against Naenae rather than KCU and the bubbles would keep their auto spot if a Wellington side made the Central league.

I don't know what the official rule is on that.

Here is the obvious outcome. Wellington United will win Cap Prem and beat taranaki in the CL playoff, thereby creating an extra slot in Prem. Olympic and Wainui get auto promotion, Naenae get auto relegated. CF decide that there has to be a playoff between the 2nd to bottom Prem team and the 3rd placed team in Cap 1 which will of course be Wellington United. So KCU or Wests play Wellington United reserves in a promo/relegation playoff, which Wellington United duly win. That will then allow Wellington United 3rds to be rewarded for winning Capital 2 with promotion to Capital 1. Sorted, OK?
