Sitting at the pub - if miramars C/L competition had finished  then the cup would have been presented and Pet1 v Oly would have been dead rubber. To many #steinekens?

Nah traditionally the rule has been interpreted so that once a team has finished their games, their players are frozen. It's to stop teams who exit the cup early (Miramar) getting an advantage and dropping their whole team down to various divisions.

Island Bay have announced former midfield-hardman turned salt-n-pepper-haired lothario Ross Grounsell will be their coach in Cap 1 next year.

CF Board has decided that NW have been severely affected by the decision that didn't involve their game - and thus Cap 1 will be an eleven team league and Cap 2 a nine team. That should be fun. Just when you though NW couldn't fark off everyone any more..

That's fucked

can the board just change things on a whim? seems rather strange.

How, I'm not sure. It's a real hairy one though and I think the majority of the ten/19 other teams involved will be a bit pissed off about it. Who's to say the protests won't end there? I think it's a cop out decision personally.

Change the thread names to Capital Farce A and Capital Farce B. Maybe they can add a mid-season promo/relo and take a leaf out of Tahiti's book - 4pts win, 2pts draw, 1pt loss - just to try keep EVERYONE happy.

CF clearly doing this to save face. If they had better regulations in the first place, this would never happen.

Such a joke. CF make a mistake up but aren't prepared to piss off North Wellington. Has to help that NW have a board member.

Zero consistency either. When they fucked up similarly with the U17s earlier this year, Island Bay were disadvantaged heavily, but got no special treatment. They could have won the league if they'd been treated the same way North Wellington have.

It is 10/10 for comedy. But it's a sad indication of where the management of the game is at.

For example (just in this league), when other teams lost points to North Wellington appeals it was because of the letter of the law. Not fairness, not the justice of the situation, but the rules as written.

When North Wellington are disadvantaged, however, the rules are put to one side and justice is the key consideration.

It's also inconsistent with the wider decision making in the game. Eastbourne cheated in the U17 league and Island Bay were directly disadvantaged, but Capital Football didn't look after Island Bay the same way they have looked after North Wellington.

Up until just a few weeks ago I was a Board member of Capital Football, and I'm absolutely stoked today that I'm not.

This is absolute bull shit! NW suck it up stop being little bitches. This makes the season 22 weeks long plus chatham cup. Also how does promotion relegation work, 2 up 3 down, 1 up 2 down? Are those teams being treated fairly.

Grr now im pissed.

I've just had a really long chat to Helen Mallon about this. Helen sits on both the CF board and the NW board (junior and senior).

She strenuously denies any involvement in this decision (although she thinks it is correct) and wants to stay out of it but I think it's only fair to her to relay the point. She did not (she says, and I believe her) participate in any CF Board discussion on this issue.

Helen and I fundamentally disagree though. She thinks the decision is right and fair, I think it's a joke. But she runs the game in Wellington and I was dumped off the Board so she wins!

Chill. I was just trying to point out nicely that you were close to accusing someone of impropriety with that statement (and would be way off the mark by the way).

People may not agree with the ruling but it was voted on by the board (who represent your clubs), it is what it is so we all need to adapt and move on.

What it does highlight is that a number of rules need clarifying and rewriting so that their intent actually matches what is written. My understanding is that this is now being looked at so we can (I hope) all expect that any rules that were ambiguous now become clear.

You shouldn't be able to be on the board of a club and the board of the governing body at the same time. It's a conflict of interest every week.

The rules are dreadful, yes. But the rules don't provide for 11 team leagues. So the board has ignored the rules anyway.

And at least one board member, Dave Trueman, is eminently qualified to rewrite those rules. I hope he does. It was certainly talked about when I was on the board, but nothing has happened in a year.
