Also watched a bit of Uni v KCU after a game of squash at Kelburn. Uni looked very good. Can only assume KCU had a bad day based on previous results as they were not in it. Referee was just terrible,  generally just got most decisions wrong so don't think benefited either side.

BNU beat Tawa, who will be desperately hoping for some players back before they play Uni next week. Could be a long day otherwise.

Interesting to see Wests resies battling this year. Maybe something to do with not playing Sundays?

Miramar with a 4-3 win over top of the table KCU. KCU where up 3-1 and Mar battled back to win

Can anyone confirm Tawa Kapiti result yesterday?  Apparently result was actually 2-1 to Kapiti but Cap Football website says 4-2 to Tawa.

IBU good 2 nil win over Brooklyn.  Could've been more - Brooklyn 'keeper got their man of the match.

Another good result for North Wgtn yesterday, 2-0 (including one of the most bizzare goals I have ever seen) over Lower Hutt following up a 6-2 spanking of them on Saturday. Puts them 3rd on goal difference behind Uni and Kapiti.

A tight race this year by the looks of things.

Shit, a default for Wests reserves, that can't be good.  Anyone know why?

Claiming that got kids playing college football at the same time.  Sounds poor to me.

Heads are dropping, obviously. Dont blame them, this has to be the worst season Ive ever seen a Wests team have.

Anyone from Varsity care to fill in what happened against Tawa yesterday?  Was a massive surprise to us (IBU) after we beat North Welly to go top of table.  Destiny in our own hands now (thanks Tawa!) - beat Brooklyn next week and we win the league.  Exciting stuff for us!

Seeing Wests ressies struggle comes as no surprise to me, with the coach they have this season I could never see them doing well.

Musgrove had the squad today, sent off for dissent too.

Really? I wonder if Veitch has done his second disappearing act on the only two teams he's coached in this region?

Real off day for Uni at KP (Kelburn, not Karori Park) - down 3-1 with 20 to go, managed to get one back but couldn't get the equaliser.  Uni have a game in hand (away to Kapiti) but probably need two wins to have any chance of promotion.

No all over,  Uni counter protest dismissed.  Rule is if player is dual registered the original registration takes precedence. Also it is the second clubs responsibility to ensure that the dual registration does not happen and request a transfer.  In this case it didn't happen so case closed.
Good lesson for all clubs to double check things.

Should make for a tasty return encounter though.

Someone doesn't know how to read the NZF regulations, subject to which the CF regulations are to be read. Specific discretion for NZF to allow transfer on the basis of good faith and a clerical error which has been admitted by Capital Football. CF have been asked to revisit their decision in light of this.

However, yes, a good lesson for all Clubs to double check things.

It's a bit of a topsy turvy league this season with any team able to beat any other on their day by the looks of it.

The joker in the pack is when clubs with teams in Cap Prem or Central League decide to drop 4 or 5 players down to ensure wins. It's a bit of a piss take really and must annoy those clubs who don't have the ability to do that.

The one good thing from my point of view is that a lot of the games have been of a reasonable standard with some good young talent coming through in most sides. They also for the most part have been played without any real niggle, apart from the odd ocasion (well from what I have seen anyway), so credit must go to all the players in the league for that.

IBU 2 - 1 NW

Both teams played some nice football yesterday, Island Bays extra experience was really the difference. A good improvement from us in the second half and a cracking free kick from one of our young guys kept us in it up until the end when an error in defence allowed Island Bay to score the winner.

The game was played in mostly good spirts with 2 rash challenges (one from each side) both getting deserved yellow cards (our one could have/should have been a red. I would have had no complants if it had been). Technically we have some good players (including our Man City import) but the guys need to learn to be a bit more physical (we tend to get pushed around a bit) and work on their tactical play but that will come from experience.

As a neutral I thought this was a good game. Island Bay had that Cap Prem striker from last year playing (Caleb H?). A part from the older dude who came on at the end, is anyone in North Wellington over 20?

Old dude? He's only 19, he has that disease that makes you look older prematurely :)

The Average age of the team is around 20 with the youngest being 16. It's basically a completely new NW first team when compared to last season but I think (in my biased opinion) that we have some great talent that will with experience kick on.

^^^^ Are you serious? Ooops sorry. Well he hammered that guy for his yellow card.

I think actually the experience counted at the end huh..an old head to keep possession might have helped..... Still positive for the future! Just like Liverpool!

5-4 BNU over KCU. Nice come back from Kapiti but not quite. Think BNU were up 5-2 but 10 man KCU clawed it back to within a goal. Defensively both sides were pretty sloppy.

The problem was no transfer request was ever submitted by Uni so no leg to stand on. No good faith defence here as it is the clubs/Players responsibility to 1: request a transfer and 2: for the club concerned to confirm and none of of these things was done.

Anyway hopefully the player concerned has now been transferred as it's not a good thing for someone who wants to play been unable to.

We went down 4-3 to Lower Hutt in an entertaining game. Some really good football played by both sides.

NW were well on top in the first half and went out to a 3-1 lead but a very poor second half performance by us and much improved effort by Lower Hutt saw them come out deserved winners.

It was good to see two very young sides playing nice attractive football for most of the game and a couple of the goals from us were class efforts (if I do say so myself :) ). Both Lower Hutt and NW are technically very good and rapidly gaining in experience which bodes well for both sides future.

Onwards an upwards for us, KCU next week.
