Common sense to be honest. Although not everything Miramar did was above board - Wairarapa's Sam Mason-Smith turned out for Miramar in Cap 9 so remains to be seen if this stops them.

Was Sam not returning to football from his time in hospital with the Kidney infection which eventually saw him return to England.

Edit: or was he a Wairarapa player at that time?

This will get all clubs -

Any player who reaches 66% of league matches for any one team cannot re-grade down again to a team in a lower division for the remainder of that season. This includes players who have played 66% of Central League matches entering into a tier 1 team.

This was last year, well after the kidney infection. He was playing Central League for Wairarapa at the time and scored a hattrick in a 4-3 loss to Olympic's Cap 9 team.

Apparently half the Wainui team was hungover in the 6-0 thrashing from Miramar.

The game was originally Sunday so a few of them let loose friday not knowing the game had changed to Saturday!!

Permalink Permalink

So are you telling me their coach told them on Saturday morning that the game had been changed? Surely you wouldn't agree to a request that late before a match.

Wainui Football operate in their own unique way.

I managed to get along to some Cap 1 football today and was impressed.

Wainui won 3-1 over Brooklyn but could of been 5 or 6 but Brooklyn had there chances too.

Wainui should get promotion with the team they have on paper this year.

Anybody know the remaining results today?

Not on Cap football site yet.

BNU and Vic seemed to have tight games?

Yeah our game against Stop Out was a crazy one.

They are a young team, who I hope stay in Cap 1, as they try and play some decent football. We were 3-1 down and won the game in the last 10 minutes.

Vic may have been struggling because exams are on? We had a lad out yesterday because of that

Very tight this year! Its between the top 4 Teams (Brooklyn, Uni, Karori, Wainui)

They play each other next month which will surely decide the outcome on who comes out on top

Im looking foward to sipping on some hot pumpkin soup whilst watching these great football teams.

Very close and exciting in this league this year.

Miramar beating Karori, and Wainui coming from 2-0 down to beat Brooklyn 3-2 is setting the scene next Saturday.

Karori are playing Wainui away in the top of the table clash and quite possibly the league decider!

Wainui are undefeated at home this year, so its looking like a tough ask for Karori.

Brooklyn and Uni still hang on with hope a few points behind.

who have Nui got in new this year.?

Someone was telling some ex Rapa/LH Central Leaguers (Coad?). The one time I saw them they looked pretty shoddy - but clearly they must have a bit about them to be undefeated at home.

Funny that Feverish doesn't mention that the Central League side hasn't got a game this weekend due to Rapa still in the cup. They could regrade 3 players to strengthen up for this one.

selling players on a game over the hill is a tough ask..

Yea Andrew coad and Pomare were bought in this year i believe.

Havent seen Pom playing for them and Coad has been out injured for the past 5 Weeks.

Iv watched Wainui a few times this season and they dont play pretty football, but they play hard and direct.

They do have a fast striker or winger no 9 that has always looked dangerous when iv watched.

The big home crowd at Richard Prouse is always intimidating.

Funny thing is - if Karori and Nui draw, and Brooklyn win. Then Brooklyn would go top of the table on goal difference.

Like you say though, it's a crazy tight league this year. No one can basically slip up in the next 4 games

Going to be an interesting four weeks, also crazy Cap 1 has four more games. Here is the currently top table

Games for the next four weeks

Waterside Karori play Wainui (A), Stop Out, Naenae and then Tawa (A)

Wainuiomata play Karori, Naenae (A), Stokes Valley (A), Petone (A)

Brooklyn play Naenae (A), Stokes Valley (A), Tawa (A), Victoria (A)

Victoria University plays Stokes Valley, Tawa (A), Miramar (A), BNU

On a side note, wonder if Victoria University football will change its name to Wellington University football if the actual university changes it name like it plans too.

Yes very true if Karori draw with Wainui and Brooklyn win, Brooklyn go top.

Out of the final 4 games you would have to say Wainui have an easier run in compared with the others.

This is the tightest finish in years with 4 teams still all able to win it!

Good luck to all

Yes i did hear that. I believe Brooklyn lost to Naenae?

Still 3 games to go but Wainuiomata have it all to lose now- no pressure!

bnu pumped 5-1. What’s that about?

I watched the second half and whilst BNU had most of the ball their defending was poor. Naenae kept getting in behind them with ease and their African striker caused all sorts of problems. BNUs coach was almost having a stroke on the sideline. He’s one intense chap lol.

This league is quite astonishing!!

Today I watched Wainui thump Stokes Valley 10-2 and in all honesty should have been 15 or 16.

Wainui were class today, moving the ball quick and out wide most of the game.

The goal difference now is +2 Wainui over Karori which is making next week a blockbuster!

All top 4 teams are able to snatch it depending on results

Bring on Petone Memorial, the crowd will be massive!!

Congratulations to Vic Uni, took first place by 1 goal over Wainui. Both wainui and Karori were in prime place to win it but Wainui drew 3-3 with Petone. Karori lost to 3-2 to Tawa meaning either Vic or BNU could take first in their game against each other. Vic did by winning 3-1 ending up on same points as Wainui.

Petone outplayed Wainui today and actually deserved the win.

Unlucky for Wainui but you must feel more for Karori.

What a season its been in Cap 1 this year.

Now Uncle Puni must spend money and gets some players in for Wainui for Prem next year.

Can anyone explain the regrade rule to me - How can Petone play 3 players today v Wainui that played against KCU in their last Cap Prem game two weeks ago?

Permalink Permalink

You need to have 2 games up or down to be regraded at that level

VUWAFC gonna have to find some money as well! Men's and women's 1sts promoted to Cap Prem and W-League respectively.

So while Vic Uni won the league, sounds like Wainui still go up as well.

Apparently it's always been 2 up & 2 down. When Wainui went up vs Naenae some years ago it was because they were 3rd and Waterside who came 2nd could not go up as they had a team in that league already. That meant a playoff game. This year only one team comes down as North Wgtn went up and the relegated team came from Central region.

Olympic Reserves safe. Lucky for them NW made it to Central League.

So Cap 1 gains LH ressies, Seatoun and NW ressies. And lose Stokes Valley, Vic Uni and Wainui.

A horrible broken leg in the Seatoun vs NW Ressies game today. Game was abandoned just before half time. Best of wishes to the NW player.
