Im not 100% sure, but if Upper Hutt makes it into Central League then only one team will be getting relegated and promoted.  So Marist might get a lifeline that way.

Regarding NewZealandPower comments about our match (WU v Gossies). We took the opportunity to use some of our U19 players in this match, having wrapped up the league the previous week. We started with 3 kids aged 15-17 and then brought on 2 other 16/17 yr olds, they coped extremely well, with one of them notching a goal. Over the last 4-5 weeks we have just managed to put 11 on the park, with injured subs only called on if necessary. This emphasises the determination in the Team to hang on for 11 matches in a row unbeaten and wrap up a well deserved Championship Title, in the end comfortably, with a 4-5 point buffer.

Well done lads.

How would this work mate?

My understanding is that if Upper Hutt go up, then that leaves a extra spot in the wellington leagues.  So this would mean that there is two promotion and only one relegation spot.for each division.

Challenge is that it will be 4 or 5 weeks until anyone know is Upper Hutt go up so I guess the play-offs will be played but the results abandoned if Upper Hutt go up. Hard News2010-08-29 21:35:06

Bugger....well, good luck to another of my former sides BNU in that case.  Hope you stay up.  Having said that, it would certainly benefit Uni if they can get one of their sides out of Cap 2.

It`s hard to pick between Tawa and Uni, who deserved the playoff spot, we did the double over Tawa, and managed just the 1 point off Uni. In saying that I think the only difference is that Tawa were lacking that experience, had some nice footballers, but lacking some of the experienced heads as us and Uni. It`s all well and good promoting youth but if you want to win leagues or gain promo spots you need some guys who have been around a bit.

Was at the game tonight.  Pretty even really.  Olympic scored a good goal in the first half and led at the break.  Uni started to dominate in the 2nd half and had a few good chances.  They then scored a very controversial first goal - Uni clearly kicked the ball out in an attacking position but went and picked the ball up anyway and threw it in.  Ref obviously wasn't paying attention and all the Olympic lads were yelling at him rather than concentrating, Uni crossed and scored.  They then got the winner with 5 to go with a cross that floated over the Olympic keepers head into the goal.  So Uni pretty lucky in the end really.

Havent seen the number 15 for Olympic before. He was good, ran the midfield for them is much better than a Cap 2 player. Would like to thank the Olympic boys for after the game, were very friendly.

We were luck to get a result but we did. Only lost 2 games this year and in the end that is the difference between us and Tawa in the end. Would have to say both teams were pretty even as shown by the two 1 all draws. Big game for us Saturday, unsure what to expect from Brooklyn other than a tough game

Uni really derserved to win.
Played some good football, the first goal for uni did change the game and shouldnt have been given. Ref wasnt the best either. But thats the way it goes. Our #15 has played quite a bit but been injured. That pitch suits his style. Always enjoy playing teams in this league and enjoyed a few beers after in the cambridge. Good luck for saturday! If it doesnt go your way... See you all next season! Blocker

The number 15 for Olympic played against Tawa B a few weeks ago.  He carved us up first half and then didn't play the 2nd half.  Think his name is Diego and apparently he's Daniel's mate from the Phoenix (he tried to get him signed a few seasons ago but don't think he's at that level?).  I could be wrong though.
I hadn't seen Uni 1sts play since first game of the season and you guys seemed like a good side, probably better than Tawa A so well done and good luck for the play-off match.

I have to say, the turf made such a difference. I have not seen our lads play this well in a long time. And same goes for Olympic. Regardless of them having number 15, they too played some good football. Both teams kept the ball on the ground, moved around a lot with and without the ball.

From my perspective, we were a bit lucky on both goals, but if we look at ball possession and how much both teams attacked, we had the most chances and attacked for 85' non-stop, so we probably deserved it.

As I said before, it was a very good game. Olympic certainly didn't want to lose, so kai pai to them for giving it 100%.
We too played some great football, especially in the second half and I guess everything really went our way (the ref making a mistake on that throw in, our subs both scored etc) so really hope we can play just as well on saturday vs BNU and go up!

yeah, but really stoked that the game will be played on at the turf. I am sure BNU will be happy as well. great pitch. (kinda sucks for Eurasia, but we'll manage!)

Because Uni will be expecting to win it. Yes there were games were BNU were 'woeful' as someone put it earlier, but there was some good football in there with a lot of the results just being unlucky, and a few where they were robbed by poor refereeing decisions. Same with the reserves as well.

I think everyones going to be wanting Uni to win and they will be good enough to play in Cap 1, but we all know football doesnt work that way. Its only one game and BNU will be up for it.

Definitely not expecting to win at all. We are pumped for this game and are expecting it to be very tight. I have no idea personally what Brooklyn will be like, other than what we saw briefly of them up at the turf against Wellington United.

I can imagine Brooklyn will be up for it, especially as Welly Utd winning the grade has given them a second chance that they wont want to waste.
