Word on the street is that the Wharfies club captain has organised a feast of week-old fish and chips for the Dreamers when they win

I meant to say dreamers vs island bay this weekend a big game. If Island Bay win than they'll probably win capital 2

Question: "If" Dreamers finish outside the top two and the Whafies seconds stay rooted to the bottom of Cap 1 (which seems likely) will Dreamers be relegated to Cap 3? And hence Cougars in Cap 4 be prevented from promotion to Cap 3 (since they seem likely to finish in the top 2).

You are allowed 2 teams in Cap3 as Lower Hutt currently do and other clubs have in the past. I'm pretty sure you are also allowed 2 teams in Cap2 but i could be wrong. I think Cap1/Cap2 is the cut-off for the rules changing

could be interesting if Island Bay finish 2nd and Dreamers finish first. Obviously the dreamers could automatically be promoted to Capital 1 but Island Bay would have to play the 2nd from the bottom team in Cap 1 which could be any number of teams atm. That'd be interesting

Oh right, someone once told me double-ups were only allowed from Cap4 and below. I guess I'd taken that as gospel...

I didnt think there was a play-off.  I thought it was automatic promotion for the top two,  unless you already had a team in cap 1??  If karori's Cap 1 side doesnt get relagated (but it looks very likely they will) does the 3rd place team in Cap 2 go up??

first in Cap2 is automatic promo, second is play-off. end of

I got to Shark Park number 3 a bit late - and missed DKP22 getting chipped from 40yds by Brodie Wilson. Any comments Granville?? The Dreamers were superb in the shocking conditions.

Yeah - quality save from that penalty Toffeeman.

Shame about your second goal - your bloke was well offside, and the ref admitted as much at full time, but I guess they need to stick to their guns once they've made a decision. Disappointed we didn't get a point out of it - god knows we need it!

Assuming the Dreamers win the league, it'll be interesting to see what happens with them and their Capital 1 side.

Wow that pitch you guys were playing on sure looked a bog in the second half. BNU could have won if they'd scored the pen and that second goal had been brought back for offside!

Couldn't see that far down the pitch but I thought the cross came in from pretty close to the byline. I guess you take what you can at this level. Other than that I actually thought the young ref did well

Funny how everyone thought that was offside, you will need to have a chat with that big defender of brooklyn's as the diagonal run away from the defender in Marists own half kept him on side.
Seen worse.

The ref even admitted it was afterwards - so enough sniping

The ref made his call so that is the way it goes. Just seems every 50/50 call has gone against us this year

Yep, Hard luck BNU, both games vs Marist this season, we've had the lions share of good fortune, and in both I think you've deserved to come away with a point.

Great save on the Pen Toffeeman and also in the second when big Mike cleared your save off the goaline with the BNU striker bearing down at pace.

IBU v Dreamers result certainly makes the top of the table interesting, 1 point separating top 3 teams...Dreamers have it all in their own hands from here on in.

Tawa climbing the table after a poor start to the season.  Good to see.  We still have to play Waterside, Marist and Island Bay (twice) so hopefully we can take points off some of them to make things even more interesting at the top!

Was an interesting game at endeavour park (Tawa's new home ground?).  First it sounded like Island Bay didn't want to play the game, possibly feeling the pitch was a good leveller.

Tawa then took the lead and then had a goal dissallowed for offside.  A dodgy call to say the least.  Although I think it would be fair to say the ref was poor for both teams.

Island Bay then got their goal courtesy of a Tawa player putting into our own net.

Looking forward to another tight game with the Bay in a few weeks time!

Watched some the Marist vs Seatoun match, after our match was called off. Marist were 3-1 up when I showed and though both teams had a few opportunities, the pitch looked absolutely awful.

Seatoun scored a late goal, and the most interesting moment of the game as the Marist goalkeeper chased after one of the Seatoun players accusing him of holding him back at the corner. A lot of handbags at 10 paces and the ref blew for full time.

Any comments on the incident Hubminator? Your keeper not learning bad habits from the 1st team keeper?

i enjoyed number 3 from island bay.

after having a verbal with me he continued to harp on for 15 minutes that next time i get the ball to watch for his studs - all of this right infront of the ref - ref and myself had a laugh, ref told him he better not - next time he got the ball just went for his shins blatently late, ref gave both me and him a yellow card, and he soon shut up.

good game.

question - after a blatent foul throw from one of our players, island bay vetern jamie milne asks ref how the F* is that not a foul throw - ref replys, accetential foul throw - someone explain haha

Given the skills and abilities of the players in most of the leagues, if the ref blew every single throw-in that wasn't 100% technically correct and from the exact point from where the ball left the field of play, we'd have games that are 85mins throw-ins and 5 mins football.

The teams are there to play football - not listen to the ref blow his whistle. Given that a thrown-in is just a way to restart the game, there needs to be more focus on the other causes of contention.

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

I say scrap the technicalities and that you should be able to throw the ball any way you want.

WTF happended there?

Yes Wulfy...you'd think the seatoun lad had stomped on me bollocks the way I overrreacted... Classic brain explosion, though the seatounian did seem keen to lock arms and go skipping down the way...the classic bit was there wasn't a hope in hell of me catching up to him when he legged it, he was far too nippy..turns out he's Tim 'fae Tawa's sisters boyfriend too.... All very embarrassing my apologies to Seatoun for the tirade and childish behaviour...

And come on Wulf, you have learned much young one but you are not a jedi yet...

First post all season from the Greeks!

This is how i see the league finishing , no matter what the weather:

1. Waterside Dreamers
2. Marist
3. Island Bay
4. Seatoun
5. Olympic
6. Tawa
7. Miramar
8.Stop Out
9. Upper Hutt
10. BNU

We have a few games left which could decide promotion/ relegation.

I reckon we should beat, Tawa, Stop Out.... Draw against Island Bay and loose against Marist and Dreamers.

We are pretty happy with our season so far, considering most of us are in our 40's.. in fact our team is made up of: 7 players over 35, 3 over 30, and 4 over 25.. we aint doing too bad!

But for me, the best footballing team this year is Dreamers, great passing and possesion, Marist as well.. thought that IBU got a bit lucky against us as did Tawa, we played badly in those games, Seatoun have dropped away, not sure why... Upper Hutt played us in 3 feet of mud and good luck to them they beat us fair and square.

I'm enjoying this league, although being a srtiker, i thought the standard would be much better, but really its very poor considering the league and the amount of 'First' and 'second teams' in this division. Think it really highlights how poor the players are in the region coming through.

Well thats my tuppence.. good luck to you all for the rest of the season.. from the big #15 Striker from Olympic!! see some of you next season!! or in a feww weeks (weather depending)!

Tawa got lucky against you?  Thats an interesting opinion Blocker.  The way I remember, you guys got a dodgy pen and we were lucky not to get a few more.  Your keeper made a few good saves!
Since that game our form has been alot better also.  Hopefully we get to play you again over the next few weeks.

Cant see Upper Hutt finishing 2nd to last as we have hit some form with 2 wins on the trot.  And with Miramar and BNU still to play again, Im hoping for another 2 wins at least.
