Just to be on the safe side, we need a draw or win this weekend against Marist.  That will be tough as I know Marist will be thinking the same thing, even though they have a game in hand against Greytown. The 8th position is not completely safe due to the Central league playoff, and the possibility of the bottom 3 being relegated is still up in the air.  We find ourselves having to rely on other games, and the unpredictability of teams we play each week, its a tough one to call. Also without our defensive midfielder and possibly our captain (calf tear), we could be struggling a bit.  But we will see how it goes.  No one can help us except ourselves.

I didn't realise that it was possible for the bottom 3 to go down!
I thought that they only bring one up from Cap 4, instead of two, in this situation?

CF regs say they do promotions first, then they relegate the required number of teams.

Relegation numbers could also be decided by any Horowhenua or Wairarapa teams winning their grade and decided to join Capital Football Comps.

Surely there has to be a maximum number of teams that can go down though?

Rumour has it that both Horowhenua and Wairarapa not putting teams in

Chossa,

Your game against Uni is on the Tuesday?  Might head over for that one.  Should be a good match. Greytown have got Marist the following weekend as a catch up for the Chatham cup game missed.

Predictions are of today as follows:

11-8 : Wairarapa (38 - 1st) beat Wainui (13 - 9th) - Wairarapa on 41, Wainui on 13 - Correct

17-8 : Wairarapa (41 - 1st) beat Greytown (19 - 6th) - Wairarapa on 44, Greytown on 19 - Wrong - Wairarapa defaulted to Greytown

17-8 : Armanis (31 - 4th) beat North Wellington (12 - 10th) - Armanis on 34, North Wellington on 12

17-8 : Masterton (17 - 7th) beat Marist (14 - 8th) - Masterton on 19, Marist on 14

17-8 : Wainui (13 - 9th) beat Karori (32 - 3rd), Wainui on 16, Karori on 32

20-8 : Petone (24 - 5th) beat University (33 - 2nd), Petone on 27, University on 33

24-8 : Greytown (19 - 6th) beat Marist (14 - 9th), Greytown on 22, Marist on 14

Table at end: (updated)

Wairarapa 41

Armanis 34

University 33

Karori 32

Petone 27

Greytown 25

Masterton 19

Wainui 16

Marist 14

North Wellington 12

I doubt this will all go to the plan as above , but who knows.  The league this year has thrown some interesting results

Will look forward to your support :)

We just gotta hope the weekend plays out as you have predicted - Armanis should do the job against North Wellington, and hopefully Wainui can take points from Karori.
Then our game will be a cracker.

Why did Wairarapa default? We were banking on them beating Greytown, which would have secured us 5th spot.

That's pretty shocking of Wairarapa. Really effects promotion and relegation spots!

Has anyone else noticed that CF haven't appointed referees for the wgtn based Cap 3 games this weekend?  A little poor considering how close things are at the bottom of the table...

From - http://www.times-age.co.nz/news/odds-stacked-against-wairarapa-united/1985598/

And then there is the admission by Wairarapa United coach Phil Keinzley he wants to use this game and the season's finale against Upper Hutt City seven days later to give further experience of playing at the higher level to some of the up-and-comers in the Wairarapa seconds team which has already won the Capital third division title. It's an understandable approach but shouldn't that also make the task easier for Petone?

So lets default the second team?

How does it make anything easier for Petone?
We are safe - will either finish 5th or 6th.
I would say it has much more impact lower down the table.
And it will have nothing to do with where Armanis finish either!

So funny. How about giving some of the up and comming guys a chance to get experince in the 2nds by letting them play in the 2nds each week rather than fulling the team up with 1st team guys playing their 2nd match of the weekend. Ive stuck up for Wairarapa and Phil in the past but they can just go **** themselves now. If they cant complete their commitments in the competition (cap3) they shouldnt enter a team.

4-0 to Karori over Wainuiomata.

I was going to ask how many of the Karori players will be there on Tuesday night, wearing the Blue colours. I will be there, only because I will be interesting to see if Uni choke or not.

But is it really a choke if we outplay them?

Of course it is. You have nothing to gain on the game (maybe confirming fifth) but the pressure is on them to show up and prove they are worthy of promotion. And if they don't, then it's a choke.

Fair enough. Makes sense when you put it like that.

We will not make it easy for them - will be nice to finish off the season with a win, and to get our goal difference back in the black :)

We will look forward to your support tomorrow night

Just heard Greytown keeper has broke his hand, struggling to find a keeper for the last game. Not getting any volunteer "stand ins" for this important game either.

The greytown keeper has been out for 2 weeks now, and wasn't the same keeper against Karori. I would be trying to get that keeper back for the game against Marist

Nothing in it for Greytown anyways. So who really cares? Apart from Marist who want the 7th place position. I'm sure if you asked the turkey red Greytown keeper, he would do it.

How come the last game was on a Monday (dropping players etc)?

Uni dropped 3 players (2 midfielders and a striker) . Striker from 1st team who got a first half hat trick after that the game was all over. 4-0 at half time.

To be fair they didn't break any rules. Pre-season starts now.

If Uni have used more than 1 player from the Capital Premeire Team, they have broken the rules. Regrading states 1 player can go 2 leagues down and 3 players can go 1 league down. The league is classified by the next grade down, so Uni have a Cap Prem team, and a Cap 1 team above the Cap 3 team.

Considering their first team has basically been playing Cap 1 for the past month it's probably legit.

What a load. We had 2 midfielders from our second team; both of whom have played before, and neither of whom got a hat trick. I was going to come on here and compliment you on a good season, you were the best team we played, but instead I just hope the sour grapes tasted good when you got home last night.

As for the actual game. What a strange fixture. No ref, and half of the opposition didn't seem to want to be there. It was like a friendly kick about at training for the better part of 80 minutes. A shame really, because we were really up for it.

It was a Tuesday, and we've played more games on Tuesdays than Saturdays this year. Still, gave the fixture an added edge.

Well done Uni. You were way too good and thoroughly deserved promotion.
I was gutted with our team's performance last night. You are right - our boys were not up for it.
I would like to think we could have been a lot more competitive if we had turned up to play, but based on that performance from your guys last night I don't think we would have got close on our best day.
While it didn't matter in the end, I can't believe they didn't schedule a ref for the game! Not impressed.

I dont think there are any sour grapes at all from Karori.  Just a bit of banter.  We could have wrapped it up ourselves a couple of times and let it slip so we are not going to blame any other team for us not going up.

Well played the top two and well played everyone this season.  Thoroughly enjoyed each game.  Thought they were all played in good spirits with people wanting to play football and as it showed throughout the season any team could have beat anyone else on the day.  Thats what you want!

Roll on next season!

I tend to agree. When you have the player stocks to put a better team out to get the result, and it's within the rules, then it's all good.
Wairarapa done it to us, and pretty much every other team this year, and as much as we complain about it, it's legal.
Well done all clubs involved this year, including Wairarapa for winning the league, and Uni for gaining promotion too. I suspect Petone will be backing Marist to take the points from Greytown to secure 5th now, and Marist to secure 7th. But I am backing Greytown, because it will give them 5th and us 7th.
