Any standout teams so far?

I suspect the Devils might be the team to beat this year

Really?

Anyone care to post some match reports here? Just from poster's perspective on how various teams perform will be nice.

In saying that Ive never seen the devils play but theyve grabbed a couple of early results and Tawa teams at the mo seem to be doing Ok. Cap 4 isnt very strong though.

I played for BNU on the weekend, we went 1 up over Rapa after about 20mins (flicked passed keeper from a header on a set piece from about 30yards) but had a man sent off on 35mins. Conceded a pen at about 60mins, then a couple more after that to lose 1-3. Pretty disheartening but yeah

Better than the first round at least. If we improve at the same rate it will be a 2 to -1 win this week.

lol yeah the first round for us was terrible, and having to watch it from the sideline through injury was like living a nightmare. too much inexperience as a collective unit and just not physical enough on the day. still dont have a keeper either... the worst thing about that 7-0 loss is that im pretty sure it was more than 7

Rumour has it, BNU went off the boil after being 1 nil up. Pretty angry tackling going on. Sent one WU kid to hospital. From 1 nil up, you guys should have taken the game. Bad attitudes maybe? Refs decisions? I wasnt there so i cant judge. But best of luck this week, all teams involved

I can confirm that was only a rumour. The red was for two yellows, both good solid tackles but unfortunately missing the ball... there was nothing off the boil, dirty or angry about it. None of us kicked up a stink, we didnt argue the red, the ref had no choice. The player was also unscathed at that stage.

The angry incident occured when what happened above happened to us, again the player (in this case WU) was playing for the ball, no bad intentions. But one of our guys lost the plot a bit, i ran over and dragged him away, it simmered failry quickly. We were awarded a free kick and play resumed.

The 'hospital' incident occured on about 75mins with a one-on-one with our keeper, their striker game out second best and had a pretty gnar ankle that blew up like a balloon. It was a fair challenge from both players, the injured player never appealed for a penalty or free kick or anything nor did he complain at all about anything, he just went off and play resumed.

I wouldn't trust rumours if the misunderstanding of events like this is the result. There were a few tackles early in the game that were poor options but were not particularly dangerous. A couple of them cost us a man for the second half. Other than that, and an instance where one of our players got upset about an opponent charging into him, the game was played fairly.

IB United 2-2 BNU. Pretty gutted to have not taken this one, we (BNU) conceded from a deflected cross and a stab past our keeper who came out, only for a defender to slip over just as he went to clear off the line. We scored from a direct freekick and a stunning bicycle kick, had a tonne of chances on goal in the first half as well as numerous good efforts on the second. IB had a couple they shouldve put away but we had far more.

I said this last week and was the case again yesterday - an exact carbon copy. Second goal was keeper error.

Watched that game. All I will say is that BNU will be in div 5 next season.

Really? Wainui are easily one of the best sides in Cap4 and even then they could only rely on a freak deflection and a keeper fumble to get a result over us. Same thing last week when we drew 2-2 with IB. Its just unfortunate that we had to open the season with a heavily under strength squad and gave away stupid results.

Good to see your team scored 2 today. Pity you leaked 6.

Whats happened to Karori, they looked good in the early rounds?

Another red card did us in.

I watched the first half of the Karori vs Uni game. Karori looked great going forward, just not quite creating enough time and space to get off any clean shots. That end result is a bit surprising, as I only saw the one goal, and it was against the run of play.

Yeah we got owned. Scored first after 4mins, kept it 1-1 into halftime. Then a straight red early into the 2nd half and we just spiralled from there.

Karori arent that good, they were relegated last season after all... Rapa are easily the best team Ive seen so far. Ive seen i think 3 of their games and they just keep getting better

I remember that Rapa team from serveral seasons ago when they were in Cap 3. At that point it was a bunch of kids from Rathkeale College 1st X1 plus a few older guys. I thought they would improve with age. For the good of their central league team they need their 2nd team up a few more grades.

Aj13, are you guys making any progress or is it cap 5 next season.

I dont know man, we cant get any worse... ha. nobody wants to be playing cap5 next year, it was hard enough to take relegation last season

Wasn't it 3-2 to the Lower Hutt team?

Naenae?

The Island Bay team, in their infinite wisdom, arrived at Fraser with their yellow kit to play Lower Hutt.

The Nighthawks were playing on the neighbouring pitch and had a spare kit to lend to IBU, so they ended up playing the game in Naenae kit.

Wainui looking strong this year with the likes of Wairarapa. Cougars looking for consecutive promotions perhaps? Only 4 points seperates the top 4 :O exciting league
