Re: Uni

the thing is, with that team they shouldn't need to resort to that- certainly not to compete with the likes fo Nighthawks and Salmon for that matter- they are young, fast and skilfull and should be able to field a team to compete- or to go totheur club if they are short.

They turned up against us with 10-do they not have a relationship with their own club to get players when short?

even though Naenae getting the points is a worse scenario for us because of the relegation dogfight we are locked in i am pleased that action was taken to send a warning to teams who constantly do this.

Re: regs being broken- of course it happens. its one thing however to drop the odd club player down the ranks, its another to go to another club altogether and get top garde players.

Cheers News!

The funniest thing is that they weren't even short - with the two Petone players, they had a squad of 15 at that game by my count.

From being in that side previously, I can tell you that the team has almost no relationship with the club.
Got rightly pissed off when we asked for somewhere to train, and were told that only the top few sides were allocated training areas - yet the subs there were atrocious - not that I have much comparison - but 300 odd dollars for an old strip, no home field, no training area  just seemed outrageous at the time

I filled in for a social team one night - only to be playing against Smithy and 2ndBest - neither of which were registered to that team.

2B thwarted my goal scoring efforts so I ended up snapping Smith in half

In my defence, I wasn't playing serious football that year.

Huge result for Salmon on Saturday- taking down league leaders Karori Aces 4-1, setting up a nice relegation dog fight with Phat Boys this weekend

We were within seconds of getting a second draw out of Brooklyn.  1-1 until our keeper palmed one and then in a paniced clearance it ended in our own net.

I heard something about that, but they are not in our div (9) so unsure.
News will know the score.

No.  Not a word.  Just glad they aren't in our division :-)

Yeah we go okay these days Salmon.  Just have moments.  It does depend on midfielders.  We have lost three first choice to out of Wellington transfers.  If some/any of them are back in town we're much more solid.  Boxey can't do it all on his own

I played today. Nighthawks (1) v Chuggers (4).

Ran on the pitch and some dude chuckled that a chick was playing.

Debut 10 minutes. 100% pass completion.  (2 passes). 2 throw ins.  No goals conceded while I was on the pitch.  I was WELL out of position.  Meh.

My lungs hurt.

End of an era.  Vinnie - It's over.

Well done, Simone from the Wgtn Utd sapphires will be playing in our end of season friendly vs Sunday Blazers, so it could be the start of a mixed gender trend set in the middle divisions

Sounds like Nighthawks are the team to play for.

Our Petone team has been popped in to Capital 9 this year. From the dizzying heights of Capital 15 (new team last year). Looking forward to the start of the season, we have Island Bay Hotspur up first.

I think I recall playing against your team Salmon07, not last season but the one before I played for the Petone Chuggers.

But this year we're basically semi-pro, we had a training last night and ran some drills. Serious.

Nah the Chuggers are still going, they're in Capital 8 I think. We managed to jump in to Capital 9 because the other Petone team (forget their name?) have gone to masters.

I just wanted to start a team with my mates, hence the leaving the Chuggers and new team.

So, what's the league like? Who are the ones to watch?

Keep an eye on the Nighthawks when you play them at Naenae. Also, keep an eye on your belongings.

Yeah, they're in 8 with the Chuggers.

We spotted the Chuggers training the other week and were going to protest.

With 2 up, 2 down and you guys there won't be much the same.  If anything we're down a bit on strength with some departures from Welly and a couple of impending kiddies.  Kind of on a mini recruitment drive.

Have you got the latest list of teams?

If you guys end up short I'm probably available. Was hoping to head up to training tonight but ankle is still stuffed, so with a couple of weeks until season starts I doubt I'll make 2nds (assuming they even have enough numbers).

Salmon, Unicorns, us and Stop Out the only returnees.

Assume Porirua is a team of youngsters we used to play further down but they would have jumped a few divisions.

Likewise Hotspur were same grade as us and have climbed.

Salmon will be a different fish-first season in 14 years that I won't be with them, but as long as our young fellers return they'll be alright.

Unicorns can be dangerous if they bother turning up-Stop Out were always tough-one of the better team, Naenae were similar in skill level to Salmon.

As long as everyone plays nice and remembers its for a bit of fun then it should be a good season eh
Good luck
