Haha, we've lost a winger (ACL), keeper (major swelling and bruising on leg) and striker (hamstring) after one game. On top of them, 3 others can't play this weekend. Great start to the season!!

bugger-

Salmon scraped a 0-0 draw; only the 2nd 0-0 in our 16 year history. Good start to season all being told

Yeah I saw that, I assumed nil all draws would be few and far between. There were plenty of goals else where.

Talking about plenty of goals, the Petone team (we replaced) who were in this grade that went to Masters, lost 8 or 9-0. Yikes.

Ouch.

Yeah.  We lost 5-1.  Deserved to lose but was closer than that scoreline suggests.

We couldn't finish a cheese sandwich but happily glanced one into our own net.  A bit of an arc up over one goal that may or may not have been kicked out of our keepers hands (opinion was divided).

Conditions were fucking dreadful.

Karori Swifts seconds (pre-Wharf merger) once had four 0-0 games in a row. We wondered why they kept on putting up the nets.

Where were you playing? We've got Wilton 2 times in the next three weeks. Petone's looking good. But that was before all this rain.

Cider breakfast at 11am at ASB for the netball, and then convoy to the Bencher?

cider breakfast without the netball sounds good...

Doesn't seem like I'm in a team yet...so should be able to pub before the game now at least..

Petone Hawk Wasps continue their run of being ravaged by injuries. We turn up at Wilton Park to play a 2.30pm kick off, 12 players total (our right back playing goalie).

10 mins in to the game, centre back busted his knee, 11 players left.

25 mins in to game, right winger breaks his leg. Fair but hard tackle, he was stretched for the ball and who knows quite what happened, but he is crumpled on the ground and play continues. Didn't last very long as we realised the extent of the injury. 45 mins stoppage, ambulance picked him up, he has broken both the tibia and fibula. I saw my first, in real life, floppy broken leg.

We played the remaining 60 odd minutes left with 10 men, score was 2-1 to us before the leg break, we went on to win 3-2. Good result, but we're severly lacking in the player department now!

Wow-that is some bad luck-Petone is a big enough club to furnish you with fill-ins isn't it?

Yeah, we haven't asked them just yet. We should have 2-3 players returning next week, so will see how we go. Fingers crossed.

10 man rule strikes again….
sounds like your boys got it together and your opponents thought 10 is easy and missed the class on playing 10 men….
good effort and result i hope the leg is sorted with no problems,,,

good sportsmanship and fair playing field is all we ask for

but all we get is talk and goal posts moving

We were down 1-0 vs 10 yesterday.

Came back after they got an 11th to 6-1 before my masterstroke of subbing our whole defense left it at 6-3.

I wasn't there, but the rest of my team were playing at Petone #1 last night, 8.15pm kick off, we were losing to university with 7-8 mins left, and the lights turned off on them. That's the second time (not this season though) that has happened to our team. ARGH!!

They turn off at 10pm on the dot apparently.

They probably shouldn't schedule 815pm games after another game then. Cuts it's too fine.

Same thing happened to us 3 weeks ago at Memorial. We were scheduled for a 8:20pm kick off which we kicked off early at about 8:17pm. We were 4-1 up against University and the lights went off with about 6 or 7 minutes to go.  Don't think they were to impressed and mentioned to us they were not going to protest the result but complain to Capital football.

Checked with some of the guys who were playing, the lights went off at 9.52pm, but it was only the halfway lights, so the corners still had lights. Until 10pm, when they also went off.

Think our boys are a bit guttered about it, as it sounds like we were pusing hard for the equaliser.

Capital Football also hated the name. So we became the Petone Hawk Wasps.

Basically just causing grief all over the show.

Just for you, Patrick. And also because I started looking at my username and thought it looked awful.

We heard back about the lights out at the game last night. Basically a 'sorry, that's unfortunate, result stands' message. Knew result would stand, just a bit crap.

Yeah, we were not allowed to be the Petone Black Tarantula Hawk Wasps.

Edit - Capital Football were blamed for us not being allowed to use it, at least.

I'd prefer to hear "we have adjusted the timing of games (or of the lights) so that it won't happen again"
