thanks for info on Naenae and Petone

Lower Hutt are a young side, can be quick and deadly but their keeper was ropey last year.
Bears are always tough-Bear VS Salmon -animal Kingdom derby always gets a laugh
Marist Skins were a very tough side last year- Chuggers had a couple of psycho chickens in their squad, hope those guys have laid off the P over Summer, but they were good guys in the Masters Torunie last year.

Salmon are the Salmon- we capitulate to poor sides and seem to do well against better sides-average age 35- Striker is rubbish- Keeper is a brick sh*thouse Assyrian who barks pidgin English instructions to us

Haha- See you tomorrow- we like playing you, you take it seriously but are not w**kers about it- we respect that

(PS your keeper was alright- he was actually pretty agile, he just never seemed that...interested.)

Salmon narrowly lost to Lower Hutt- a bit more fitnessand we would have had them- bloody enjoyable game though. Petone were a nice bunch but capitulated after Salmon went three goals to the good in the 2nd half last week.Game of the round will be Salmon V Naenae at Macallister this weekend.Curtain raiser to Wests VS United in Central League-LULZZZ

capitulated is a bit of a euphemism. we did make a mini-comeback but that was never gonna last. despite a shockingly bad scoreline it was a much improved effort from the first weekend

you had your moments but we didn't want the game to end and you seemed very happy to hear the final whistle-all up it was one of the freindliest games i have played ina long time

Park life has previewed Div 9:

Both sides of the story… Capital nine top of the table clash

The Oranje Salmon have been swimming around these parts for years - originally under the moniker ‘Steve Austins’ (thank heavens it was pre-Kingz, otherwise the Steve Austinz may have challenged even the Kittenz for the most absurd name in Capital Football).

The Naenae Hypocrites walked last year's Capital 10 as a new side filled with players who at one stage in their careers played first team at various clubs around Wellington (and in Richard Lilyston a man who played in the Capital Premier League as recently as Monday).

These two teams meet this weekend at McAlister Park in the Cap 9 top of the table clash.

The Salmon once had the perfect team for the volatile folly of the lawless lower divs; two lawyers, a reporter and a kick boxing custodian. These days they are a slightly more aged and cultured lot including an award winning playwright poached from the Waterside Nomads, a brick sh*thouse Assyrian goalkeeper with a Mal Meninga-esque goal kick and a highly strung skipper chasing an improbable hat trick of hat tricks in 2009.

Fresh off the back of a 9-3 thumping of an abject Petone the Salmon are confident of giving newly promoted Naenae Hypocrites a run for their money.

The Hypocrites last match against Marist Skins was a 5 -1 win. Although the score line was pretty flattering for the Naenae side, as the Skins were one of the best all round footballing sides the Hypocrites have faced. As usual Aaron Taylor and Rob Mallon lead the scoring while Tony King and ‘Lils’ walked around ordering people about.

The game was played in good spirits, no bad tackles and not too many, “aw Ref’s!!”. It’s not always said but the Skins were a good bunch of lads. This week it's all about the Salmon, let's go fishing boys!!

We're picking: The rest home residents across the road from MacAlister Park have been warned to lock their doors in expectation of a visit from the Naenae side, but nonetheless Naenae likely to take home the silverwear.

poetic licence

Park Life waz right- Hypocrites were too good, running away 3-0. mind you Salmon had their chances and were probably the better team in the 2nd half

Thanks for the preview PL- life exisits beyond the CL!!

Bring on Marist Skins next week

i cant say for sure as i wasnt there this week but i hear it was much the same situation as when we played you salmon. apparently in the last 10 or 15mins we conceded 5 goals.

some good intra club rivalry this weekend. should be a good match up

Someone should just make a decision to swap the Tawa side killing everyone in Cap 16 with the Petone side who are obviously out of their depth here.

That Petone side are ok where they are HN. I think it has a few of the younger Martains in it so they are will used to losing. I'm also guessing that they dont have a keeper when frustr8dstriker bails on them.

Skins representative here: we had a good game v Lower Hutt this week after a bit of a lesson from the Hypocrites, but 3-0 probably was a bit generous as we did rely on goalkeeping mix-ups. So far games in good spirit, and I'm looking forward to Salmon next week, having kind of missed out on the match last year.Mangetout2009-04-19 20:22:38

welcome Mangetout and welcome Skins

This site is awesome in that games can be reviewed, previewd and legends created- also, dubious behaviour can be addressed and complications like kit clashes and lack of referees sorted mid week, not on the day- really looking fwd to the Skins/Salmon Wgtn City Derby next week-  we were evenly matched last year

surprisingly nightz i'm not the regular keeper for this team. i tend to ply my trade wherever we are short on players (when i can play that is).

we are well out of our depth. there was an island bay team that was put into cap16 i think. they were looking to be higher but for some reason they got dumped there and we got put here.

we have had a bit of a hard time getting a regular team together since the start which hasn't helped, but hopefully we can start to settle and quickly.

when we thrashed you 5-2 two years ago (i scored five) and when you beat us by 1 or 2 last year, that was areally fun, intense game and i didn't mind losing.

both at Delaney #1 which was in good nick

It's deff happening in the higher leagues, the refs have been informed so.

I think it's an important mark of respect, maybe we can all reflect on how it affects our game too. It is only football at the end of the day (cheesy comments aside it's true, I think a few people forgot most of us have to go to work on Monday)

a minute's silence observed and then pre-match handshake- a nice moment

then a 1-0 win for the superstar Salmon over a very even matched Marist Skins.

MOM: Salmon's Assyrian keeper who saved 4-5 point blank shots-

Mangetout-your view?

Not a lot to call in the game, I felt. It was a cracking finish to win the game, though. In fact, I'd suggest that pace up front was probably the difference (as the podgy striker I'm well-qualified to comment). Our wingers made good progress, but there was a lack of snap in the area. Something your Craig could never be accused of lacking.

Enjoyed the game enormously, and in very good spirits. Of course a draw would have been preferable, but both keepers were sound and the luck evened out - especially in the backpass leading to a blocked freekick.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Come on div 9! we should have plenty of banter on here now:
we have representatives from:

Marist Skins (Mangetout)
Salmon (Salmon & welcome to Tricky Dicky)
Petone (frustr8dstriker)
Seatoun (Football 51)
Naenae (Hard News- please ask them to come in)
Lower Hutt (Mw4liverpool)

it is only Chuggers and Bears who are in the wilderness to date

this should be a place for banter, reports, controversy, tactics

so far is been a little disapointing.

Seatoun vs Salmon should be a cracker- TAB would have Seatoun as favourites but salmon are coming off the back of a gritty clean sheet

rumour has it petone wont be around for long. we started with a squad of 20 possibles. now down to barely fielding a team each week.

we were offered a potential switch with tawa from cap 16 but for some bizarre reason the team dont seem too happy to make the switch. not sure what the issue is. we def cant be competitive in this grade. and plus most of us played in cap 14 last year which is the comparative grade.

guess only time will tell

anyway lookin to the positive. if we can field a team this week it should be an interesting game. i could be in for some good keeping practice.

goal for this week will be to stay under 5 goals

friday arvo is a good time to post:

a frustrating 1 all draw for us last week against the Tawa Bears.  After a couple of heated and contentious games last year, this one was more in the spirit of the game from both teams.  We shouldv won by about 5 nil - some good keeper saves and lack of finishing from us.  Tawa kept at it and nicked one in stoppage time.   Looking forward to playing you guys tomorrow frustr8d (hopefully i can open my account for the year).

well mate i hope you don't. we had to turn away about 3-4 good quality players this year who were dying to play, but we had no room- have you not approached your chairman asking for recruits?

surely he'd be keen to help you out than suffer the ignomy of having a team pull out?

Tayo, aka talentscout had an african mate who was looking for a lower grade team-pm him.

i feel for you cos noone wants to be in a rudderless ship but surely its not that bad. You have room for improvement sure, but like you said, at least you can get out and enjoy it.

a few years ago Uni put a team in div 8 that had a few spankings and then pulled out before the end of round one- shameful behaviour and an indication of a lack of depth in that club. not a good look

it does seem to be abit of an uneven year alround though with Tawa Ac in div 16 being far too good
- put it down to a settling down period with this new league structure or something else?

frustr8dstriker, Ive heard some of the other Petone teams have to many players and some arent get much game time. Silly if you need to pull out. Talk to Barry when you are getting pissed in the clubrooms tomorrow arvo and I'm sure he can sort you out some players.

ouch 12-1 that hurt. i think we were a bit unlucky not to have gotten the draw. there were just 11 unlucky or dubious goals in there . but full cred to the lower hutt boys.

got there bout 10 late from my early game and we were 3-1 down so it aint all my fault.

to the tawa guys...get ready to feel our wrath. but nah seriously lookin forward to it. hopefully we dont crack the -50 goal diff just yet.
