RJM - has Central Football changes the leagues because wasn't there a Western and a Pacific league last year.

Edit- that link answers that question

I think so. There still is a western. But they used to just have a hawkes bay prems and a palmerston league but now the top teams from both of them are joined. Thats what i seem to believe anyway

Wanganui have a few of last years Marist side I noticed - are they splashing the cash? I know marist doesn't shell out the $. Just seems strange they would go to a lower level. Good win over the reserves. Wanganui look to have a good side this year. They, Maycenvale and Red Sox should be fighting it out for the top spot this year.

So does the winner of this league go directly into the play-off with the Champs Premier winner for a Central League spot?
Permalink Permalink

Pretty sure this is the case. (Except if Marist or Rovers win it I guess)

Yes think this may be the case

d) Their name is Wellington United

Three for me, and two for them.

I'll give you that one.

Interest that it refers to the lowest CL team.  I was under the impression that last in CL were automatically relegated, and the 2nd last went into the playoff.

I am pretty sure that at the CF AGM last year, it was agreed that it would be bottom placed CL straight down, winner of playoff between Premier and Fed straight up.  No extra playoff.  Havent seen the minutes though.......

those rules are from 2009. Rules were changed for 2010 -bottom team down, the play off winner of Prem and Fed replaces them. The fines for everything under the sun were raised also so I'm not surprised that they have forgotton to update the CF website, they are such busy people.

So basically.... Capital Prem winner Vs Central Fed Winner = Playoff to see who plays central league team to go up!

Some confusion at the moment as to whether there's direct promotion to Central League, or if there will be a play-off.

No confusion.  There WILL BE a playoff.  The rules have not changed since last year.  This I have directly from the horse.

"Mr Horse, are the rules regarding promotion/relegation different this year?"
"Neigh!"

Was Mr Horse (or anybody on the farm for that matter) going to give the rest of the Clubs the courtesy of an explanation as to why the (nearly) unanimous recommendation to move to auto promotion/relegation was poo poo'd and dropped?

Or are we supposed to find out through a public fourm like this?  Fine and upstanding as it is of course.......

Perhaps CF should build a page for fixtures and results here, and just redirect.  I can't remember the last time this site crashed......
