Just been looking at some of the results in this grade.  How on earth can there be a handful of defaults in the league.  Disgraceful.

How can a team default, There meant to be a reserve team why be in the league if you can't bring a team to couple of games

I agree not a good look for the clubs at all. It think it comes down to bad communication within the clubs. I think the Fed leagues has stretched few of the clubs this season the clubs hit most just happen to have central league teams. Maycenvale no exception, with the lack of depth that Barlett moans about in the paper every week.

I was at Marist watching the thirds (who I previously played for) the week prior to the Marist default, and I know the reserves were looking for a whole heap of players to play the next week. I think the firsts had 5 or 6 injuries, plus there were a number or reserves that had a wedding to attend. I guess the decision was made to default the reserves rather than default a few lower teams and still probably get beaten due to having a weakened team.

Not really a good look I agree, but sometimes circumstances hit, especially as a reserve team.

Chris Grathholder and Dave Geary will be the other to plays of note worth mentioning.  Other players Dan Ball, Phil Dol, Ryan Martin, Tom Biss not to mention Adam Chandler.

No need to secure HBU players. Were else would they go rovers or maycenvale its pretty normal. Not much money gets flung around in hb i hear.

Birnie has been there for a few years and Rande i think its his 2nd season, a lot of the young guys weren't going to make rovers 1st team so went to maycenvale. I heard the other day one of the young guys got a car brought for him, not sure how true that is. If they are getting paid, its not to play  but to coach juniors. Rovers just pay what they always have nothing new there.

Weren't going to make the Rover's first team? 30 players were used in Rover's central league squad this season so how can you say that?

well if you look at the original squad had about 18 players in it. and the fact that a young player left half way through the season because he wasn't starting when he thought he should of been  would be enough to suggest that the guys that left weren't going to get much of a  look in.
I think 30 is a bit over the top, more like 25. 4 or 5 of which were goalkeepers. its understandable that they left.

wanganui has a rebel league going, it has been going a couple of seasons, they have gone from 4 teams when they started to 7 or 8 this season cheap to play about $60.00 for the season compared to the $220.00 we have to pay in the central football competition.the level of football in the rebel league is not that flash but has improved, all the teams are social so i do not think they will be to worried about what central football think.

I love the bit in that notice about not being "eligible for international selection" if you play in one of these 'rebel' leagues.

I know the one in Wanga's is definately social, and 'fot the love of the game'

Seriously. International selection. Seriously?

The other funny bit i find, is the statement about breaches of the Fair Trading Act or something. I wonder if by them stamping out competition this way, they are in fact looking to maintain a monopoly?

Seems a bit OTT for very casual leagues IMO. But im only basing my thoughts on the Wanganui Rebel League.
