Maycenvale take the lead in Central League bid
Saturday September 4th 2010
Maycenvale have taken the early honours in pursuit of a place in the Central League after beating the Capital Football representatives Upper Hutt City 3 - 0 at Akina Park, Hastings. Not conceding a goal is an added bonus as the away goals rule comes into play if the teams are level over the two legs.

Return leg is in the Hutt Valley next Saturday 11th September.

Wasn't to surprised by this result. I knew Maycenvale were a good chance but will be interesting to see how they go at Harcourt. Tough place to win.

Fuck this stupid game

They don't need to win, just keep it to two goals.

I can hear the InterCity Volvo backing up now.

Harcourt this weekend:

I'd be keen to watch if I wasn't out of town. Wonder if UH will do an orange-out with the visiting club also being orange, again.

Yes. The second leg holds much promise!!
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Something to do with the Naki dropping out which gives another Wellington team a spot? I'm not sure, just a guess.

nah - Nae get saved if UH went up and KCU beat bubbles. Pretty dumb.

That would be pretty poor considering they managed 4 points. Would be better of putting Olympic straight up in my opinion.

Seems the rules for promo/relegation is weighted toward the poor performing teams in the grade above instead of teams who have performed well in the grade below.

Say UH went up, that leaves 9, replaced by Wainui, so back to 10 teams. KCU beat Bubbles so they stay up leaving 11 teams meaning Naenae go down???? Or Bubbles beat KCU meaning Bubbles come up, KCU stay up, Naenae go down. Meaning KCU stay up regardless. Unless of course UH don't go up, which would still see Naenae relegated.  I'm really confused now.

What's the point of having a KCU v Bubbles play-off in that case? KCU finished ahead of Naenae, so surely if Upper Hutt were to go up (unlikely) and Wainui take their place, then the play-off should be between Bubbles and Naenae?

It would be farcical if the team that finished 9th in Cap Premier got relegated to Cap 1, while the team that finished dead-last with only 4 points would stay in the Capital Premier.

Are Naenae gone whatever the outcome of any playoff games?

I would certainly hope so.

Nui are up. KCU play Bubbles. Winner is in Cap Prem.

If UH go up :
and KCU have won then Nae are Cap Prem.
If Bubbles have won then KCU Cap Prem

I think..

I think the theory is that Naenae would only stay up if KCU beat the Bubbles, and Upper Hutt went up.  Any other scenario and they're gone (not that I think they deserve to stay up under any circumstance).

Where it falls down is timing.  KCU and Bubbles play this weekend but Upper Hutt's fate isn't decided for another 3 or 4 weeks.  They don't want to delay the play-off until then with no games for the sides involved.

So that's means Naenae are gone whatever outcome of playoff games.

The theory (not verified) is that if KCU win the play-off they are locked in, but if Upper Hutt then go up (leaving 9 sides) then Naenae are a chance to remain as well because Olympic will have lost the play-off.

If Upper Hutt goes up that leaves 10 teams as Wainui have already come up.

Now you have me confused.

No.  That's right.  That's 10 including Naenae.
