Olympic can't be that strong if Kareem Osman is in the squad, was a very average player in Dunedin

Yep Jake "the muss" (he wishes), is a prat - Brendan should tell him to F**k off back to the club he came from - was it Stop Out, Wests.....somewhere in South Africa. Good move for local football if he pi**ed off and had his tanties in front of some other towns kids!

Yes that is correct if was for the shield. Does anyone know if the shield has left the Wgtn area and gone to Napier, Palmy, Wairarapa etc, cause then we better become more consistent otherwise it could be heading up to Napier on Monday

I,m pretty sure it's only for teams that come under Capital Football. Not 100% on that though.

It's up for grabs for all clubs in the Central league. In the past Gisbourne, Manawatu and even Wainui have had it.

Kareem has been pretty good for olympic this year, hes a 2nd team player however first team had key places such as Hicham and Miky Malivuk out injured, so Kareem and a 17 year old started along with Luciano who is a 2nd team player.

Was a poor game from Olympics perspective. Kareems scored a couple goals now for  firsts and 2nds (who are newly promoted and are leading the division, and yes its early days but great achievement).

We havent really lost anyone to be honest and won the league last year, but from what I have seen of Olympic they havent played there best football thats for sure. Im sure theyl click soon, hopefully in this big game against Mar tomorrow.

There is some comical defending in 3 of those goals.

Tawa gave away a goal very similar to that today with 5 minutes to go against Napier, the pass back to the keeper wasnt strong enough and the striker just dribbled it around the keeper into the net. Made it 2-1 to Napier, but Tawa scored off a corner to level the game up with 2 minutes to go. Final score: 2-2patrick4782011-04-25 16:03:25

Naoki Hotehma, from what I've heard he's been playing for Osaka in japan (whether that's Gamba, Cerezo or a lower league I'm not sure) and he wasn't starting so came to New Zealand looking to play some football with the aim of getting a spot in the A-league.

Considering how many he has been putting away it doesn't seem too unreasonable

Miramar 1 Olympic 1. Was at the game, first Rangers game I've seen this year. Nice finish from Rowe after a great ball from Parkin made it 1-0 (against the run of play) before a second half equaliser from the spot from O'Connor (who was Olympic's best player IMO) after Imray was exposed 1 on 1. Not a great game. Miramar will face many hurdles if they are going to win the league as everyone says they will. They were poor in the final third (as were Olympic) and only Rowe, Johnson, Parkin Gulley and Woodside actually look match fit. They are steady at the back though. Gulley was overrun in the first 20 min but grew as the game went on. The Greeks were...well they are great entertainment aren't they? Haha so many yellows for dissent. Curtis (who'd played well) got one and then...just kept talking...and got another. Doh. Was the ref a bit of a dick; well yes...but sheesh Greeks keep your mouths shut FTW.

This. The game was even and a draw was a fair result. Both teams were terrible at times but it was a good battle.

It's a shame Olympic still can't control themselves when things go against them. How many players got carded?

7 yellow and a red  for Olympic and 2 yellow for Mar

I actually thought Olympic were a bit better on the day. They knocked the ball around a lot more, tried to create, and controlled midfield better IMO; well early on at least. Miramar just seemed happy to play on the counter in a sort of 4-5-1 with two wide midfielders (White and Johnson) and Sutherland in an AM role. But White was lazy and Sutherland looks well out of shape. So Patrick and Gulley were really struggling as what looked like holding midfielders in the first 20 until Miramar scored..on the break. So good one Calcott it worked I guess. Tell you what though by that time Olympic could have been two up; with one glaring miss a free header from a corner. After Miramar scored they relaxed and got more ball, whereas the Greeks just seemed to be slowly imploding. Miramar could have scored a few more then, but a combination of poor finishing and poor decisions especially by White kept Olympic in it. A team with a pacy strikers will trouble Miramar because neither of their centre backs are quick: Olympic fashioned the penalty and another great chance near the end that way; the latter was via the sub with pink boots - the young lad looks like he could be a good player one day if he doesn't panic in front of goal.Toffeeman662011-04-27 15:49:34

Yeah that big guy up top for Olympic could have had two headers, the young guy should have put away that one on one rather than pass straight to the centre back, Jimmy should have put one away... and these are just the obvious ones I remember.

Could easily have been 3-2 either way, surprising it ended 1-1
