Wairarapa United are making no secrets over how they are approaching their Chatham Cup elimination soccer match with central league side Stop Out in Wellington on Saturday.
For them it is more a case of enhancing current deficiencies in their performance with an eye to launching a strong challenge for major honours in Capital Soccer's premier division series than making a serious bid for Cup glory
"Obviously we'd be happy with a win but we're not placing too much emphasis on it," Wairarapa United manager Phil Keinzley said.
"For us it's all about winning our league and we're not letting anything else detract from that.

A dog with a bone :)
look for us to hopefully give olympic a good battle, going to be really tough for us, but we are confident after a good win vs their second team last weekend.
no matter what though we'll give 100% and heck who knows what could happen, we have a really quality striker who is capable of producing some stunning football.
good luck to everyone entered.

Three for me, and two for them.
See you there. I'll be the one limping up and down the side of the No. 2 pitch while watching the game on the No. 1
Thought George had more of an influence on the game than Costa today (in the bits I caught).

Gisborne City away to Feilding and LJ Hooker Thistle away to Taradale. Thats the Chatham Cup first round draw for local clubs.
Its not a good one. Theres a lot of travelling involved and thats a cost the clubs could well do without. But players and supporters will agree that theres something special about the Chatham Cup. And there will be no shortage of confidence in both camps.
Thistle are having a good season in the new Pacific Premiership and although beaten 2-1 by Taradale some weeks ago, they have improved steadily since.
The experience of sweeper Warren Veall behind in-form centreback Richard Coomber has added solidity to the defence.
Nicky Land, Josh Bates and Chris Spurr are the core of the team in central midfield
They are all dangerous on attack, with former City striker Spurr still the districts most consistent scorer and currently joint top goalscorer in the Pacific league with seven.
Youngster Stefan Rush has added considerably to the Thistle attack this season. The former Campion College and Mount Albert Grammar striker is fast and uses the ball quickly and accurately to open up defences.
Thistle will give Taradale plenty to worry about tomorrow.
City dont know what to expect in Feilding, who are currently leading the Manawatu mid-central one league with an unbeaten record.
The Sky Blues should win but their form has been so patchy this season that it is difficult to know what they will come up with tomorrow.
Coach Kevin Fallon is confident he now has the players to have a good crack at the cup and Central Premier League.
"Im delighted that Noah Hickey has signed for us and with Henrik Hahn also available again, our squad is formidable.
"But we still have to get the results against some tough opposition. And dont forget that Pedro Garcias can play for us from July onwards.
"Pedro is an excellent finisher and Im convinced well finish the season strongly. He is doing a good job for us as assistant coach and basically taking charge of the first team when Im unavailable."
City will be without Tim Schaeffers and Hone Fowler tomorrow, but keeper Danny Robertson should have Josh Smith, Shane Hooks, Van Lindsay and Scott Hales in front of him and they are all players in form.
The midfield is likely to be Hose Ramos, Joe Simpkins, Jakub Sinkora and Ryan O Neill, with Lance Eeson and Robert Gill up front.
Eeson and Gill will almost certainly be tightly marked from the outset. But the City strikers are experienced enough to cope and skilful enough to create openings.
It should be a City win. But this is the Cup. Anything can happen.

I was between the two pitches (avoiding being flattened by the Pat Morita look-a-like linesman) as I was watching the game on the number 2 pitch as well.
Cheers liverpoolfan1 and nightz.
Well done Eastborune, although running out of steam in the 2nd half to Premier league side Tawa and going down 6-1 the 3 great scoring chances you created early in the match should have been taken. As it was a very even 1st half and the fact it took Tawa until the 34 minute to open the scoring was a top effort. 2-0 down at half-time Tawa showed the difference in the league gap between these sides netting 4 times to in the end run out well deserved winners..

Phil Keinzley has coached and managed Wairarapa United soccer teams for more years than he would care to remember so when he talks about any performance as "possibly the best ever" you know it's been something special.
And that's how Keinzley labelled Wairarapa United's shock 1-0 win over Stop Out in a second round Chatham Cup elimination match played at Hutt Park on Saturday.
"It would possibly be the best ever win I've seen from a Wairarapa United sidecertainly in the top three," he said.
Keinzley's enthusiasm is easy to understand.
Firstly, Stop Out, who are coached by former All White Grant Turner, play in the central league competition, one tier above that of Wairarapa United, which currently lies third in Capital Soccer's premier division series.
Secondly, in form Wairarapa United striker Andy Robertson was forced to move back into the fullback position to cover for star Fijian Sakeo Valevou who was a late withdrawl through injury.
Thirdly, another Fijian Lai Gataurua was called in to replace Robertson and was having his first full game since recovering from a major operation.
Fourthly, talented young substitute Anton Ross rolled an ankle in the warm-ups for the game and was unable to take any active part in proceedings.
And then there was the refereeing. Keinzley, who manages Wairarapa United, has been "ticked off" by officialdom already for this season for daring to publicly criticise the man with the whistle.
But you can read between the lines when he says, "I've been told that if you can't say anything good about the referee then say nothing at all I'll leave it at that," he said.
While Wairarapa United's win was due to a magnificent team effort nothing impressed more than the tightness of their defence, an area of their game which had a huge question mark over it going into this match.
With Stop Out probably having 60 per cent of possession the onus was on the Wairarapa United defensive unit to lift their effort several notches and Keinzley was delighted with the way they responded to that challenge.
"They (Stop Out) were pushing more and more players up front to try and get the equaliser in the second half but our defence was so tight they hardly had a decent shot on goal all game," Keinzley said.
"We tackled our hearts out and there was no sign of panic, everybody was just so cool, calm and collected."
Wairarapa United by contrast had at least eight prime scoring opportunities through the course of the game and the one which produced what was to be the winning goal came about 30 minutes into the first spell.
Mireck Tvaroh sent a well-judged cross from about halfway to the always alert Pita Rabo and he finished off in fine style.
Tvaroh and Guiseppe Cagliari were towers of strength in midfield for Wairarapa United despite being on the receiving end of some questionable tactics by the Stop Out defence.
"They got hacked several times but they stuck at it, they didn't flinch, Keinzley said.
Robertson also had an outstanding game at fullback and if goalkeeper Tony Jamieson didn't have to make any major saves his distribution skills were excellent.
But as Phil Keinzley says this was a match where all players deserved plaudits for their efforts
"We've been saying all season that potentially this is probably the strongest Wairarapa United men's team yet and so it was great to see them play to that potential," he said.
"It was an oustanding performancejust outstanding.".
The Wairarapa United starting XI was: Tony Jamieson, Carl Shailer, Andy Robertson, Petero Dauniseka, James Oxtoby, Niki Keinzley, Mireck Tvaroh, Guiseppe Cagliari, Aaron Spierling, Pita Rabo, Lai Gataurua.
Just who Wairarapa United will meet in the next round of the Chatham Cup, and where that game would be played, was expected to be known later today.

Re Keinzley and referees. He said after the match, and quite publicly, that he thought the officials were great.

Jeez, you should've heard Lower Hutts post match comments!
When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!
Could be a tough one up next, but is always good to get a Central League club and to play them at home, hopefully we'll get a bit of a crowd turning up.
Wellington United need there strikers to score some goals, I traved up to gizzy for the game on sunday and there mid feilder, 19 year old Richard Gray, scored a hatty! The kid played the rest of his team out the park. They lost but how come this guy never gets a mention? Flag costa...what about GRAY! He has a new fan.
yasou bois and girls,
Yep gotta agree with that call - A hatrick is always special in any league BUT one game definetly does not make you a star - you are only as good as your last game and you have to be consistently scoring goals. Lets see where the young fella ends up at the end of the season - so good luck to the lad.
