for me the frustration is the trickle effect on clubs - for example North Shore who are a pretty innocent party in this have been messed around a bit - and from my point of view we don't know if our game against them this weekend will be going ahead or not. Then Wanderers are in pretty much the same position as well. It's pretty uncool from Mangere to be so inconsiderate - if your wrong cop the punishment and let everyone else move on.

Funny how you were'nt too sympathetic of clubs last season that didnt play for a month due to your cup game being abandoned!!

Different circumstances I know but......

how were we not sympathetic to the clubs "we" effected - we played the game that was washed out the very next week and we planned that from the day after the game was washed out.  I know other clubs were effected by it but really apart from building a roof over michaels ave there was very little we could do - however NZF and Mangere have this all in their own hands.

this is what i am referring to in the official statement:

Mangere United have until Friday 27 June to lodge a further appeal.

The scheduled third round tie between North Shore United AFC and Hamilton Wanderers will be scheduled as soon as the process involving Mangere United’s appeal is completed.

From th' Herald , channelling the useless gimps who've always covered football for them ....

"

"This game is so massive for us,"Gwyther said. "It's easily the most talented Northern League team I've played for and one of our team goals is to win the Cup. But Central will be tough. They've got all their Auckland City stars back and will be a handful, but we have a lot of national league players too. It should be a great game."

" all their Auckland City stars back " thatd be Tarde would it ....he's as well informed as he is talented  ....fortunately for Central ...

Cashmere 1-0 (late pen) over coastal spirit. I got a sore neck from continually looking skyward in this game of head ball. I'm not exaggerating when I say you could count the number of passes made by the cashmere CB to his midfield or fullbacks on one hand. People will say cup football is all about winning (and I do congratulate them for winning) but as an advert for our game, that sort of long ball football will actually turn casual spectators away and kids will wonder "is that the game I've fallen in love with?". I know criticising a winning team never goes down well, but it had to be said.

What you don't call that a football pitch do you.

Wouldn't shift the cows on to it let alone try and play nice passing game.

Scottie Rd, how do you justify blaming the state of a council owned and managed pitch on a club?

Marquee

Unsure if Scottie Rd was blaming anyone, more just saying that the pitch was not the best and I would agree that that, (like many pitches in ChCh at the moment) had tyre tracks over it, in the goalmouth near the road, plus a motorcycle track that went right across the pitch and then all the way to the other pitches before going to track to Cuthbeths Green.

The pitch did not help either side, maybe cost Coastal the lead then GT looked set to score after rounding the keeper only to hit the post.

Possibly AW, however cashmere play the same style on the plastic carpet at ASB. My point stands: it might have won yesterday but awful watch for anyone but the most diehard tech supporters.

To be fair broonie the quality of the league is shite.
The issue is not about coastal or how many goals ctfc have scored.
I'm simply questioning the style of play - not its success. Maybe it's not a fair question for a club; but its not a good advertisement for footy or for young kids to aspire to.

so you've watched us a lot then . I'm not defending my coaching or lack of it, you might say , but defending my team.

Yes we have an option if ,u take ur patch off, of long diagonal switches. , usually quite accurate. Yesterday our opposition hit thier first seven passes long. They pressed well and were physical , I think 5 yellows to our nil .

We take a guess each week with our stats man, and in every game this year we have had the lions share of possession, apart from the Nelson game. But to be successfull you have to have a few strings to your bow. God forbid as u said above if we aspire young lads to win and besuccessful,

If we are a hoff ball team and at a guess your a coach and are desperate to beat a shite team like tech surely it would be easy to advise how to stop all the long balls. Or are u a gutless typer who would never put a name to global

Great subject this but would be better on the Mainland board rather than the Chatham Cup one.

forgot to mention that those tech CBS and gk only let in a handful of goals(yet to concede a spirit one yet) , not bad for big stoppers

i think Global you will never be a total coach if you cannot understand why Broonie and his boys played the style of football they did as a good coach can alter his teams game style to suit the opponent or expressed another way to stop your opponent from having the advantage of playing how they want to.

can spirit not header a ball or bring a aerial ball down???

to win the cup you need to be able to play all styles of football and know how to defend and also counter these different types of football.

its not always south american short passing that win's a game and winning is better than losing when it is knock out

Back to the Chatham Cup....I watched about 50 minutes of Miramar vs the Bay and Sam Mason Smith missed an absolute sitter in the first half. Skyed it over the cross bar from 2 metres.

Well done Island Bay!
