Quite simply, Central League and Chatham Cup are CLUB teams, not a conglomerate of player brought together for a short period of time.

Nope. The old national league is exactly what I described above. The ASBP has the potential to move away from and be better than that (as I described above) but it hasn't. Like I said, I love the idea of the ASBP.

Interesting that today's paper says he is banned for rest of season.  I know that with Wests having 10 games in the league left and out of the cup that effectivley is the same thing, but slightly more emotive putting it that way and not mentioning a number.

Disapointed though that it was added as a footnote to a Paul Ifill story.  Would have liked it to have been a headline in its own right.

Read (and heard) the fine is quite substantial. Indicates they've thrown the book at him. The fact that he carried on afterwards and in the paper may justify it alone but it does make me wonder what he said to the refs exactly.

Suspect we will never know.  Could not hear from the other side of the pitch but there was a fair bit of jumping around and arm waving at the time that looked bad enough.

With stuff reportedly happening after at the dressing rooms, makes me wonder what the other non playing staff or even the players were doing in not dragging him into their room and shutting him up.  Or were they prepared to let him fire their bullets?

Has anyone noticed that in the ASB Knockout Cup and Chatham Cup, Wharf have had all

five matches  this season drawn at home? Has Feverish arranged for Lew Vincent or Salim

Malik to do the draws?

I remember a few years ago (2006?) West had all their games at home. It was the year they made the final. so would have been 6 games up until the semi final

For those coming to Wakefield for Chatham Cup match on Saturday night, the ABs game will be on live straight after in the clubrooms so grab yourself a Tuatara and settle in. Might as well stay all night for WC games in the morning too!

Wouldn't be an exciting Chatham Cup without some New Zealand Football drama.

Mangere United have the right to appeal the decision to New Zealand Football.

Not sure how they can. Its quite clear what rule they have broken.

Well they have a right to appeal. Whether they will be successful is another question.

I agree, but be interested to see if they do. Anyone know if player involved played whole game or was a sub out of interest?

I think they should just add both teams into the next round and then one gets a bye.  Similar to the 11 team league.

So the player had to be registered 15 days in advance, but looks like he was registered only 14 days in advance. Ouch. Given that clubs track record though, no sympathy from me.

And when you throw in Cocaine Mickey on home detention (I heard?) And people want them to run and ASBP team in South Auckland?!?! Get the fuck out....

to be fair there are only a few people involved with both Mangere and Auckland United - yes there is a connection but it's not as profound as say ACFC and Central. Also Mickey has been relieved of his duties I heard and a player from OMU was appointed coach (this was the week following them beating us) - and i heard the money tree has died so no Ernesto Lopez playing either.

Interesting to know if NZF/AFF discovered this by themselves or did Hamilton Wanderers do a Papakura City/Bay Olympic and start crying because they lost??

Mangere do this every year. They should be expelled from future Chatham Cups.

Third round ASB cup tie postponed

New Zealand Football has postponed the third round ASB Chatham Cup tie between North Shore United AFC and Hamilton Wanderers set for Sunday 15 June.

Hamilton Wanderers were set to play in the third round after an investigation into player eligibility found Mangere United had fielded an ineligible player in their round two penalty shootout victory over the Waikato Bay of Plenty side. The result of the match was overturned and Hamilton given the victory and a place in the third round.

Competitions Manager for New Zealand Football, Chris Kemp says the postponement of the third round fixture was the best course of action given the circumstances.

“With the process still open regarding a possible appeal by Mangere United, we feel that postponing the third round match is in the best interest of all parties involved.”

“Once the process around the protest has officially closed we will proceed appropriately as soon as possible.”

No surprises, they kind of had to as they would have hated to play the game then have the ruling overturned and forced North Shore to have to play again.

i would of thought common sense would prevail here and the offending team would either appeal straight away if innocent or state they decline the opportunity to appeal so that no delay would be needed in games.

this just causes other teams in this part of the draw to get squeezed latter in the season to make up the games lost to Chatham cup games played out of sequence to the rest of the draw.

Rules state they have 7 days to appeal. So they are more than able to use the full 7 days to work out whether they want to appeal.

is that a rule we have aligned with FIFA? The head of the taxpayers union won't be happy. 

the club knows if it was pushing the rules to the limit or not.

if not appeal as you are innocent but if you know you pushed the boundary and got a slap on the hand just take it and move on.

7 days is a long time in football.
