Tønning bungled a deflected free kick from Patterson just after the half hour mark.

2-0 Birko.

Jack Albertini scores for Napier 15 seconds into the 2nd half.

Game on, 2-1 Birko.

Should have been 2-2 in the 47th. Didn't see who it was, Napier player put through on goal by Faulds, and he just seemingly walks it in to an oncoming, and grateful Rodic.
I’m not sure who it was but I thought the Birkenhead player who got a yellow late in the first half was very lucky it wasn’t red. Nowhere near the ball and studs straight into the Rovers player.

Everton O'Leary was the one you're after there

He looked very sheepish as he walked away from that incident, very sheepish...

Initially I thought the same, and the one replay I saw confirmed it for me.

So Olympic, Auckland City, Coastal Spirit and Birko into the semis. First time ever at this stage for Coastal.

Guessing the draw is tomorrow or is it next Tuesday?

Likely to be tomorrow.

Technically it is Coastal Spirits first semi
However New Brighton and Christchurch Rangers the two clubs that merged to form Spirit have both made Chatham Cup Finals before and lost. New Brighton in 1969 to Eastern Suburbs (2-0 at Basin Reserve) and Rangers in 1993 to Napier (6-0 at Mclean park)
I think rangers may have made other semi finals as well
Saw someone at Stanmore Bay on saturday who I think was wearing an old New Brighton tracksuit top

At the Olympic vs Manurewa goal, the ref seemed to get some advice from the 4th official when sending off the Rewa player. Is this usual/ allowed?

The ref had two assistance referees to consult with and seemed to go straight to the 4th official for confirmation.

Definitely allowed. Though slightly unusual that neither the ref or the closest assistant didn't see a headbutt.

Yes that is correct on the legacy clubs, hoping the new one will go all the way.

Saturday was an amazing day at Stanmore Bay, so close and the highlights show most of a cracking game. There was a double save by the Hibiscus keeper that was outstanding, and they also hit the crossbar as well!

Yes I caught up with the New Brighton AFC jacket fella too, classic he wore it along.

The draw tomorrow doesn't really change a lot, all of the opponents are going to be tough, just hoping it's a home one!

I let my guitar speak for me

I was pretty much right behind the 4th official, we both had a view of a raised arm towards the Olympic player. Can't say that anyone I talked to saw any headbutt (most missed the incident completely until play was stopped) but the incident was well behind the play as Watto was breaking upfield so it's not surprising the refs and ARs didn't see it.

Both matches should be quite exciting, any predictions for the final?

Will be a good weekend of matches, with the Kate Sheppard Cup Semi Finals on that weekend also

Olympic should be too good for Coastal, even away from home. That being said Coastal are the *only* top-tier side in the country still unbeaten, and have beaten both Cash Tech (twice) and Chch Utd this season.

City v Birko is a tossup. But if I were a betting man I'd be favouring Auckland City.

City vs Birko should be good watch.

Kinda disappointed Olympic didn't get to host since I would've liked going to another Chatham cup game but oh well.

With at least one Auckland team guaranteed to in the final, NZF can confirm its booking on North Harbour Stadium for the final

Winger Ryan Stanley in goal for Coastal after an injury to Ellis Hare-Reid…

If CS pull this off it might be one of the biggest results of the season in the Cup

No keeper on the bench seems pretty daft for such an important match.

Three for me, and two for them.

Bit of a dull match up really. Two best teams in the country for the past few years who have already contested multiple finals.

Three for me, and two for them.

Birko unfortunate today, dubious penalty, a goal that shouldn't have been disallowed that was and I felt had the bulk of the play. The Greeks go into the final as favourites for me.

Drama filled semi final in the rain at Kiwitea.
Pleased I was watching as a neutral as i would think supporters of either of the sides would have been living on their nerves throughout the 120 minutes.
Birko had the better of the first 30 or so minutes and perhaps should have been more than one ahead.
Definite penalty from where I was . Arm away from the body and perhaps a bit unlucky but definite penalty,
From then on absolutely even and chances aplenty.
The disallowed goal was a mass of bodies piling in the GK and these are usually disallowed , often incorrectly.
Well refereed given the greasy conditions.
Cliche but no one deserved to lose.
Perhaps City shaded it just but could easily gone the other way.
As a side note wandered in there with cash in my pocket expecting a gate charge. Previously semi finals always had a charge at the gate with NZ Football taking the proceeds and using that to pay for transport of the competing teams. Maybe because two Auckland teams involved ?
Would have been well worth the cost.
Reasonable crowd given the conditions

I really enjoyed how even the Auckland City vs Birkenhead match was - it really felt like it could go either way. As a neutral I was happy for the extra time!

Must say I was impressed with Ryan de Vries' ability to pick out the perfect pass to set up a few of the goals.

The Coastal Spirit vs Wellington Olympic result went the way I expected, I was hopeful it would be a bit closer to keep it exciting, but it really was no surprise that Olympic were too good

The final being between the 2 current heavyweights of NZ Football should hopefully make for an even, hard fought match.

It does, but with only 5 subs it’s easy to gamble on having more options available in outfield.

Plus I believe Coastal’s choices for a backup keeper would have come down to their 44-yo team manager Paul Hughes, who filled in for a game earlier this year, or their 17-yo reserve keeper who’s team finished bottom of their league with one win from 16 games.

Both offside decisions correct, then a really well taken goal. De Vries offside before Tieku's shot and Prins looked off too. JHS will be kicking himself for that miss.

On a side note, such a shame we get these commentators for this game. Constant mispronunciations, and a complete lack of insight or player knowledge from either of them.
