Just spoken to someone at the Olympic Park clubrooms, and the shoot-out finished 4-2 to Bay Olympic.

Caversham 3 - 3 Bay Olympic AET (2-2 90mins) (1-1 HT) (Bay Olympic win 4-1 on penalties)

Caversham very unlucky. Played most of the football but came unstuck at set pieces. Bloody exciting game though. Olympic went 1-0 up within 5 mins after Cavy failed to clear a cross. Drew level after about 30 mins. Olympic keeper (Danny Robinson?) cocked up a cross that was drilled at him at the near post, came off his arm and dribbled towards the goal line before being poked in by i think Robbie Deeley. Til half-time it was a big battle of long throws into the box at both ends. pretty evenly matched. Caversham would've had about 55% possession.

Straight after kick off in the second spell, Cavy produced a great attacking move which saw Tom Jackson thump a volley against the far post, keeper had no chance, very unlucky not to go in.
Craig Wylie was given a straight red for a studs up challenge about 10 mins into the 2nd half. He was going for the ball, but the angle the ref was on probably made it look worse than it actually was. I would've given him a yellow.

Olympic tended to sit back a wee bit after this, and resorting to counter attacks, playing a 4-4-1 formation. It paid off about 5 mins later, counter attack led to a throw in, and the long throw was flicked into the far corner. Keeper perhaps could've got a fist to it.
Olympic seemed content to sit back and try to defend their lead, and just hoofed it up the pitch most of the time. Caversham equalised from an early cross which Ant Hancock took down brilliantly and drilled underneath the keeper. 2-2 after 90 mins played.

Caversham then took the lead 5 mins into extra time after some quick passing through the middle and a parried shot fell Seamus Ryder who made no mistake of the finish. And this is where Caversham started to dominate. Possession was plentyful and there was a great deal of pressure on the Bay Olympic area, but the ball just wouldn't squeeze over the line. Olympic keeper making a couple of fine saves in this spell.

Olympic managed a couple of breakaways and managed to draw a corner from a counter attack. And yet again, a high ball was not cleared, and yet again, it was poked in. 3 very scrappy goals conceded. 2nd half of extra time was more balanced, chances popping up at both ends as legs grew heavier, but nobody could convert. James Wagget making a good save with his foot after a 1 on 1. Was a bit crap to see it go to penalties. Anyway: Pens, (sorry i don't recall the numbers of the people who took them, apart from the stocky #12 who came on for the tall japanese fellow.)

Bay Olympic 1st Pen: Converted bottom left, sent Wagget the wrong way.
Robbie Deeley: Hits low and right. Keeper guessed right way, fairly poor penalty.
Bay 2nd Pen: Carbon Copy of their first penalty.
Ant Hancock: Thumps it fairly central keeper gets his trailing leg to it, but not enough to keep it out.
Bay 3rd Pen: Hits it right, in off the post - good penalty, keeper guessed right way but no chance
Tom Jackson: Hit it hard, high and central. Keeper gets his trailing hand to it and it just creeps over the bar.
Bays 4th Pen: Bottom left corner, keeper went wrong way.

Bloody heartbreaking to see us go out like that. Could so easily have been a different outcome. Good luck to Mirimar tomorrow, would be good to see a non-auckland team in the final.

Fair play travis, no sour grapes

From the sounds of it you were unlucky though. I wouldn't of minded seeing Caversham lift the cup. Always been shafted down the years by NZF so i do feel for you guys a bit. If Bays win tomorrow i won't have the slightest who to support in the final.

Three for me, and two for them.

worst reffing decision i have EVER seen. that was never a penalty let alone a card of any description. The lino was standing in prime position, he didn't flag nor did he consult the referee he just stood there like a clueless muppet. Absolute shambles from the officials throughout the game. Justice was served in the end result.

Hilarious.  So many laughs and easily the best $5.00 I've spent in a long time.  Worth every cent.

Well done 'mar.

Miramar didn't start either of their first choice strikers, and I've seen Bay Olympic.

Hope they give the game to todays ref,  Televised lols.

Yes but you saw a poor Bay Olympic side against an even poorer Hamilton Wanderers side, who by the way are not in the Northern Prem anymore after the restructure and will not be in it next year the way they are going in Div 1A.

Who are Miramar's key players?

Three for me, and two for them.

They played four or five different players from the quarter so it's hard to know which side they will play.

Yesterday.

The other keeper was unlucky not to be playing. He was immense in their QF win over Forrest Hill.

still made a monumental cock-up in the first half. wasn't confident with balls driven into the box. Good in the air, though. And made a couple of really good reflex saves.

Yeah, very, very, very good in the air, awful on the ground. Which begs the question why did Jackson and Deeley look to put thier pens into the roof of the net when the gk was so good in the air?

After Miramar beat the top of the table NPL side with ten men and a schoolboy keeper only someone with a good pair of Auckland-tinted sunnies on would be calling Bay Olympic favourites for the final.

ECB were quality for the first 20 minutes and then absolutely gash for the following 70.  Larry longball anyone?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Was at the East Coast Bays v Miramar semi yesterday. Great game drama wise but the ref was horrendous. Was hard to get a proper read on how good miramar are as they were reduced to 10 men so early on. Like someone said Miramar were missing a few key players as well tim schaeffers there best defender was suspended and sam jenkins one of their top scorers was injured and dom rowe there top scorer only came on for last 10 minutes as he has been injured for a while. So with Miramar at full strength I think they may have enough in terms of quality and there quite experienced

Bay Olympic are a big threat from set pieces. They have a pretty nifty counter-attack as well. But for Mirimar to relieve pressure on themselves, they don't want to concede corners, or any throws within the attacking third (Nathan Strom has a Rory Delap style throw). Their build up play is a bit lacking, and they have a couple of stocky guys (1 in the backline and 1 in midfield) that would be their point of weakness if you play a quick passing game. Robinson didn't look comfy taking balls that were driven in, but he'll happily take anything above the heads.

Hope Mirimar come away with the win.

You wouldnt be sober enough to make that drive either. I'd offer you a lift but I'm not going all the way to Auckland to support Miramar (and we have a masters tournment on that weekend).
