Upper Hutt playing Wairarapa 2nds.  Will be interesting to see there line up.  Bottom of the league,  bet they dont play like it.  We had Lower Hutt when there 1st and 2nds werent playing either. The draw hasent been to kind to us.

Explanation?

No grounds.  It's all the lower grades that played last time, plus some that didn't.

yeah i noticed that the same grades that got canceled the last time got canned this week. I always though there was some parity with cap football's way of doing this - apparently not! Now div 10 will be 2 games behind a lot of other grades.

Well, I find the whole cancellation thing very confusing.

Its a given that some divisions have more teams than others (Div 1 to 5, Div 16 and Masters 2) which is very strange in itself.

But are these divisions then given priority cos they have more games to get thru?

I summarise below the number of games completed by Division...
1   11/18
2   11/18
3   11/18
4   11/18
5   11/18
6     9/14
7    10/14
8    10/14
9     9/14
10   9/14
11   9/14
12  10/14
13    9/14
14    9/14
15    9/14
16   10/26
Masters 1  9/14
Masters 2  11/18
Masters 3  10/14
Masters 4  9/14

The 8 league teams also have their new competition to play at the end of the 14 round season so in effect also have 18 games to get through.

3 cup rounds and a final isnt it

My understanding was:
8 teams - 4 matches.
4 teams - 2 matches.
2 teams - final.

Could have been put wrong though.

No, its not knockout.  4 teams in each pool play each other, 3 games. 1st in each pool play off etc.

Games per Season:

  • The objective would be to have all teams play 18 matches per season. There would be a double round robin league of 14 games and a separate cup competition of 4 games - so 18 matches in total.

The League:

  • The league would take a traditional round robin format. All teams would play each other twice (i.e. 14 game league).

  • The bottom two sides would be relegated and the top two promoted.

The Cup:

  • The cup would begin at the conclusion of the league.

  • The eight sides comprising each league would be randomly drawn into two groups of four (we considered drawing the groups up according to league placings, but decided a random draw would add a dimension of chance to the competition and may create the opportunity for some of the under-performing league sides to reach a Cup Final).

  • Each team would play the other three in their group in a mini-round robin. At the conclusion of the mini-round robin, the winners of each group would be drawn to play in the Cup Final, while the remaining six sides would play Plate Finals (e.g. 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4), although there would be no trophies for these Plate Finals.

The Cup Finals:

  • We are conscious that the success of the Cup competition may depend on the extent to which the Cup Finals can be established as a worthy event in the eyes of the clubs and players. We want to make them worthwhile and meaningful. With that in mind:
    • The Cup Finals would be hubbed together at selected grounds (as much as is possible) and played together on the same day. We want to create an event for the players and a focal point for the clubs, families etc. Options for finals hubs might include Petone Memorial, Awakairangi, Karori and Wakefield Parks. The Capital 6 Final could perhaps be played at Newtown Park. Using such grounds would require the support of the Clubs that call these grounds home.
    • Cup Finals would have referees, flags etc (and possibly match programmes), which would be a rare novelty for lower grade sides.
    • Cup Finals would be played on decent pitches (weather permitting).
    • Trophies would be awarded to the winning sides and local football celebrities would be on hand to congratulate the winners and hand out the trophies.
    • There would also be the opportunity for host clubs to add their flavour and ideas to Cup Final day.

So, going back to the original point, if everyone is expecting 18 games, it seems strange that some league have played 11 and others only 9.
