Last year the Winter Season started the 3rd or 4th weekend of April so probably 3 or 4 weeks before that.

Yes, it is good timing in that way. it is the perfect way for a team to get some serious footie in before the season kicks off

English team has not registered- we have the scots anda mixed bag of brits but no pure bred anglos in there yet- you keen?

If all the teams who said they are going to play join up then we currently have 30 teams!
leaving two spots available, although some of those 30 may pull out

Today we welcome:

Club Garibaldi (Italy) and NZ PHAT Boys (NZL) to the tournament

I reckon Club Garibaldi will be competitive, Island Bay United players i think- PHAT Boys are dark horses- not sure about them but good on them for getting involved

The Fever Team currently reads like a who's who of Forumites:

liverpool, Feverish, News, Smithy, Cnut, Marius, Reg22 and DKP22.

But we could still use a few extras.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

If they are keen Barber ask them to get there rego in ASAP- (that goes for all of you considering taking part) We are very nearly onto the waitlist!

Wgtn is footie mad and im loving it

Funny though some of the ethnic teams are taking a while to register after there initial interest, and it seems to be the NZL teams who respond quicker- Becuase of that i am saving spots for teams i know are out there but have not registered yet- i.e. Iraq- Semifinalists in 2006

Its all good mate, integrations the key- but will you be wearing a lavalava?

Actually given the powerful physique and natural athleticism of the PI people ( a horrible generalisation i know, but still..) how long before they start to dominate in NZ football as well
FIFA has taken an interest in the happy isles- Fiji and Cooks have quite expansive programmes running-

in fact Barber there are now three PI teams registered in CK (Up from one last time)
that is- Samoa, Tuvalu and Cooks

our team is one powerful team let me tell ya! 4 of our males have played Prem rugby in Wgtn and also Flag Rugby for NZ, while 1 of the females in our team plays Central League. Of the other we have me (an average-at-best utility reserve ballboy) and a few other rugby lads.......while we won't win much......we will entertain thru sheer clumsiness!

No lavalava for me (to my samoan grandmothers displeasure) but i think 1 of the boys might wear one for a laugh!

Oh to be fit an uninjured!

Well done Wellington- you have proven that the thirst for football extends above and beyond the Phoenix and the mere act of watching- Registrations are almost full for Culture Kicks

This means that any registartions accepted beyond this point will be on a waitlist, pending the final payment from the teams that have signalled there interest-but it is still a first come first served scenario.

There is also the Beach Football but I will cover that in a separate thread

SO; if you want to play you need to contact me ASAP and i will put you in the mixer, and hopefully get you a spot.

The following teams have fully registered:

  1. Wgtn Police (NZL)
  2. Tartan Barmy (SCOT)
  3. Club Garibaldi (ITALY)
  4. NZ Phat Boys (NZL)
  5. BMU (SAMOA/PI)
  6. Red Sparrows (Inter.)
  7. Allemania (Ger.)

The following teams have  registered interest and have places saved for them:

  1. F.I.T.E (NZL)
  2. Yellow Fever (NZL/Inter)
  3. Oromia (Oromo)
  4. Mark Wolfsbauer's Inter (Inter)
  5. Burma (Burma)
  6. China (China)
  7. Cook Islands (Cooks)
  8. Sudan (Sudan)
  9. West Africa (Africa Utd)
  10. WCC (NZL/Inter)
  11. RMS (NZL/Inter)
  12. Greece (Greece)
  13. Marist (Inter.)
  14. Tuvalu (Tuvalu)
  15. South Africa (SA)
  16. Assyrian Men (Assyria)
  17. Assyrian Women (Assyria)
  18. Wgtn Utd (NZL)
  19. Costa Rica (Costa Rica)
  20. Arabia Utd (Arabia Utd)
  21. Brazil (Brazil)

So if you don't see your name on here-DON'T PANIC- just get in touch with me and we can work it out

cheers

You can take one name of the waiting list there Salmon.

wulfsteam (inter), which I'm kind of guessing is the team I expressed interest in entering, is in fact a fully paid entry under the guise of the mighty "Red Sparrows"

cheers

PS  I would like to claim I had very little to do with the naming of the team, other options included- the approximately 80kg sparrows, the naked mole rats, and European trash

Sweet, ill edit the list forthwith
Actually i like the name Red Sparrows, it has its football connotations (red star), plus a sparrow is an ubiquitous european import, and it continues the tradition of wierd football nicknames like the Go ahead eagles, Shrimpers or (ahem) the Salmon-see post in General Football Discussion!

On that note CL- another forumite, Bevan, asked me if anyoine needed players-
so any teams out there PM Lemon and Bevan and hook them up with some sweet football styles

Also: Had two more regos:
An Indian team from Miramar and ARMS FC, an international Wgtn Utd team

Barber 21 Pm'ed me a good question:

"hey mate whats the go with rules?

throw ins?
pitch size?
goal size?
shinpads?
ball size?
goalkeeper rules?"

Well Barber et al:

The easiest thing to do would be to the Sportzone website:
cos the format is almost EXACTLY the same as twilight

The difference will be that it is
6 a a side-not 7
we will be very strict about the changing of keepers in mid play,
and as for shin pads- We HIGHLY recomend that you wear them!
hope that clears it all up~

OK teams- We now have 34 teams registered in our 32 team competition-
I have to get tough!

Registrations have closed-if you have not approached me already about a place you will have to go on a waitlist~

A full list of teams will be published next week

There are still places for Beach Soccer however!
