yeah I don't think this is true if you look at effects on cap3,4 etc

yeah as Yakcall said more an issue in general with a lot of refs leaving or retiring and not many new ones coming in

I also haven't been able to ref all season because of injury, so yeah multiple reasons why ref numbers are down

No disrespect to.the woman's game, but having W-League on a Saturday makes it a great place to bring in less experiencd refs both in the middle and as assistants. There are just fewer refs who make themselves available on Sundays to ref, and especially assessors.

Well that’s lucky for us, but yeah there was a drop last year?

the ban does mean he isn't allowed on the bench for Olympic, but the 4 games are 4 W-league games (despite the fact it was during a Cap Prem game he got the ban) and with a week being called off for the ferns game it's going to be 5 weeks that he has to miss

He also got sent from the sidelines in United's Women's Reserves game last Sunday from what I saw

That was the same game - 1st team plays W-League, reserves play Cap Prem

Ah right. I hear Cap Prem I think men's. For the women I've only really ever known it as Women's Prem

unsure. Does anyone currently have double headers?

Sat is niggly for male coaches who play. Will also mean another six officials needed on Sat?

with the Chatham Cup \ Kate Shepherd Cup draw you'll get a chance to do it now!

only if you come, buy a beer, take photos, write a report.

hopefully - the fact the women usually play on Sunday is possible banana skin (jobs etc)

interesting W-League result today

Upper Hutt 2 Western Suburbs 6 - Upper Hutt were without Sarah Gregorius (Ferns) and I believe Kennedy Bryant (Injury)

other games were Palmy Marist 0 Wellington United 8 (the Robertson sisters show - Michaela with 4 & Jemma with 3, Dani Ohlsson got the other)

and someone other than Grace Surridge scored for Seatoun - Nicola Blacklaws, but they still lost 3-1 to Rapa

Yup I can confirm that UH were without both Sarah and Kennedy today. Also only had one sub (60ish minute). So after being 1-1 at halftime they ran out of puff. Juliana Los is by far the best player in the Wests team but I hear she is off back to America soon.

I would offer the opposing view that West's dominated possession from.the first minute, and nullified the ability of UH to score on the counter. UH clearly have an injury/team depth problem, but I am not sure you can say it is down to tiredness, when West's chose to stop scoring and play tight triangles for the last ~15 minutes.

I should have said that they 'probably' ran out of puff. They certainly do have an injury/depth issue - some of their players are playing their first or second game of the season. On paper the Wests team certainly appears stronger (I recognise a lot of their names from playing with other W-League Clubs previously) so I am not surprised to hear that they dominated the game.

Upper Hutt's poor run continues with a 5-3 loss to Marist, leaving both teams on 10 points while Wests jumped ahead of Upper Hutt with a 2-0 win over Seatoun. Wairarapa managed a 3-3 draw against United to keep the title race open but they still need the other teams to pull off a couple of upsets to have any chance.

Did Kennedy and Sarah Greggo play?

Judging from Rosa's photos, Kennedy did (and scored) and Grego didn't.

I saw that Island Bay beat Brooklyn 5-1 in the WPL on the weekend. I thought this was quite a high margin given both teams were on 3 points, second to last on the table.

I also thought that it was interesting to see Julia Baldwin and Cara Chung playing for them. I don't think the club partnership was allowed for the dropping of players?

And I wasn't at the game, only saw through the photos from the JourneyFan!

Island Bay went in 1-0 up at half time after a forgettable first half. BNU equalised pretty much straight after half time. BNU then had a 3 minute lapse, during which time Island Bay had 3 attacks and scored 3 goals! apart from that 3 minutes BNU actually played quite well in the second half hit the post 3 times and the cross bar twice. Island Bay missed a couple of chances as well though, mix of bad shots and good keeping.

Who scored the goals do you know?

according to Capital football it was

E Hollis x2, S Cook, I Reweti-Gould, J Balsille

although I though E Hollis got a hat-trick and pretty sure Julia Campbell got the last (unless J Balsille is J Campbell?)

Petone was going to be missing 3-4 players when the two teams where due to meet in a few weeks due to Futsal so asked for the game to be moved forward.

Does anyone know when Sarah G will be back for Upper Hutt? She has been out for a few weeks now it seems. What did she do?

Congrats to Karori, who won Prems on Sunday as well as Uni who secured promotion.

All going well with the rest of the season Uni could be the 2nd club in Wellington with both a W-League and Prems team!

Whats the situation here with W-League? I know Massey destroyed the Manawatu League this year so will probably be keen to fiht for promotion?

Good question. Uni and Massey played out a very tight draw in preseason as well so if there was a playoff that would be interesting.

I was under the impression that Uni have earned promotion already. Our first team coach seems sure that Prems is automatic promotion and the Cap Football regulations would back that up (as below). I have also seen emails from Capital Football confirming our promotion.

Seems rough on Massey but the rules look pretty set in stone.

W-League is a Capital Football league, when the Central League was canned they decided to offer one spot to the Central Federation. It was up to the Central Fed as to how to select the team. If Massey wanted to go up I they most likely have to play off against Palmy Marist but I'm not sure if the central federation had set anything up along those lines

it is a Cap Footy run league with PNM being 'invited' as far as I know. Massey are out of the equation (until the usual preseason dilemmas :) )

Feom what’s i understand, PNM are safe because they didn’t come last in the league. If they did it would force a playoff with Massey.

Glad it will be an 8 team league, but going to put pressure on refereing stocks with another 3 point game to fill, especially if Havelock are relegated and North Wellington are promoted in Men's Central.
