Just an edit to this, Becky shared the award with Sarah Duffin from Petone too.

Lots of players graduating?

18 Nov 00:47

Rori aren't you a Marist man yourself?

And you can't even figure it out. It's pretty obvious don't you know.

2011 - S. LEES coach of Marist 1sts - fails to qualify for play offs

2012 - S. LEES coach of Massey CL team - wins league

2013 - S. LEES goes back to back with Massey and coaches Marist  Men's and gets promotion to CL

2014 - S. LEES coches Marist CL Mens

2015 - as above but now Marist women get promoted

2016 - S. LEES coach of Marist women's CL 1sts.... swarm of players from Massey to Marist

Thought that this would be common sense or are Palmerston people that transparent?

Ahh Yup I have been but I still think its crazy that Massey would just pull out rather than fight for it, They had a pretty strong reserve team with a lot of young talent coming through (I ref'd them a few times). Their women's really was a great platform for them unlike their men's at the moment.

I am actually sad they wont be there next year for two reasons, It would create a good intercity rivalry and I get the feeling this will just prop up Valeron for another year putting peanut butter over the cracks. Please don't get me wrong I hope Valeron have a huge turn around and can find their way back to their former glory with men's and women's competing at the top level but from all reports they have some deep issue's within their club and culture.

I would love nothing more than to see Palmy become a women's footy mecca with 3 or 4 teams in central league and I believe Massey could be a huge catalyst to this.

sounds like they have done a bit of a turn and are now committing to entering

It's going to be very interesting to see the make up of all 3 Manawatu clubs, following the change of heart from Massey.

I guess we will find out in 2016 whether the Manawatu has enough female talent to compete with 3 squads in Women's

Central League, if players are after game time at the level & find spots across all 3 clubs, I have no doubt they all can compete.

In response to the Valeron comments above, in 2015 the culture in the females squad was the best it has been since being

involved in Central league, just lacking a few more quality members in the mix & hope to have more players fit & will be back

to competitive ways.

Re Massey - yep totally new team. But one of their main issues is how they played defensively. They played a very high line against United... This was always going to play into their hands with such pace and skill. If Massey concede that they aren't as fast as other teams and defend deeper they could stand a chance to stay up - albeit slim. But if they keep this high line against the other top teams their goal diff and spirits will lose them that chance real quick...

26 Apr 03:22

Knock Out Cup games for Capital Region

Petone v Brooklyn North
KCU v Vic Uni
Palmerston North Marist v Stop Out
Napier Marist v Wairarapa

If that is it I assume the other big teams have automatically gone through to the next round.

27 Apr 21:07

as the Podcast pointed out - there were ridiculous results last week 8,9,18,10 goal games.

The league continues to have a split between top and bottom. The quality at the top half has not increased, and you can probably foresee Valeron, Massey and even Seatoun failing to have a team next season.

Current Table:

I know Wellington United have played an extra game, but 27 goals scored already?!
Should be a good game next week between United and the Hutt!
