its a democracy they punish them selves by
A: letting it happen
B: not being proactive and sorting it out
Its not about being fair, its not fair they cut the clubs in div2 and 3. But it is certainly fear that those clubs grab the opportunity to advance them selves

Here is the bullahit from the October US1 newsletter, would actually make a good comedy script, oh how we laffed

The proposal to exit the NFSL (Northern Federation Soccer League) and replace it with a new and improved version, surely has whipped up a mini storm of controversy, and understandably so, to a point.

Everyone is fearful of change and what it may bring, but the smart operators analyse the proposition and then plan to make changes to benefit from change itself. Central United have done that ever so well with Auckland City!

So what are those changes that are causing anguish amongst a small sector of our clubs and how will they benefit?

A new foundation will be laid, from which new developments and opportunities will evolve.

Federation based Leagues will provide a springboard from which top performing clubs can then participate in cross border, inter Federation championship activity, at year end.

The old environment of fear and trepidation will be replaced by a more positive environment of rewarding winners. No longer will Clubs need to spend up large to protect their NFSL status, for fear of failure and relegation.

Good quality competition will be preserved, and played at some of the best facilities in the country.

Financially healthier clubs will be able to invest in Junior Directors of Coaching and developing more youngsters to become tomorrows club first team player.

More local Derbys will enhance the prospect of spectator attendance.

New products will enhance the prospect of attracting sponsorship into the game.

So what if, hypothetically the NFSL were to continue?

The prognosis might be; Clubs would enter and compete in the third tier of domestic competition in this country. They would accede to the requests of coaches to buy key players and raid the cash cow that is junior subscriptions. Then they would likely complain over refereeing standards, retire to the committee room to soul search at year end to try to overcome their difficult financial circumstances and then wonder if it was all worth it!

They might even win the competition, the prize for which would be a bill for $50,000.

I wonder if we are destined to keep wondering.

Okay.  I'm not from Auckland and know f**k all about this.  But isn't their point that this will be cheaper?  Isn't that a reasonable point?

What they haven't done is answer the other issues I see in this: lower standard of competition and a dilution of the 'elite' quality of the NPL.

Why sponsors pr fans would be more attracted to a more mediocre competition I do not know.

And the condescending tone is a bit unnecessary too.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Why would Tony Jasper and his lot offer the Westlake 1st XI $300-400 per game cause thats basically what the team was last year along with Campbell and Eaddy. North Shore haven't been confirmed if they are in the NRL yet let alone have a league draw or even prepare for 2008 season.

Stop talking rubbish for the sake of it man...

The problem with the US1 league that they have proposed is that it would only work if the players that play in that league must reside within the US1 boarders. Otherwise any jo blow can turn up and play from either side of the bridge. How does that grow the depth in US1 if players from the Avondale or Ellerslie region front up and take a first team spot?????
