Not a bad start to the competition, ended 4-1 to the Nix if I counted right, or 3-1 if I didn’t.
Big turnover in players for our Ressies though, only Ryan Lee, Dylan Gardiner and a couple of other faces looked familiar, and I didn’t see any of the scholarship players like LBS or Cassidy there.

Is the Hilton Petone considered important silverware in Wellington? I find it interesting how so many big local clubs are taking part
Wouldn't say it's considered important silverware. It is just an organised preseason tournament where teams get the chance to trial players, formations, etc. Also saves clubs finding other teams for friendlies and booking fields/refs. I played in it a couple years ago and that was my take away from it.
I do find it weird that some CL2 teams play div 1 (DV, Lower Hutt) but others play div 2. Wainui and Seatoun
My guess is the draw involves reading the entrails of a ritually sacrificed seagull deep in the basement of the Petone clubrooms.
Clubs use the Hilton Petone for pre-season and choose which division they enter. I know that clubs like Seatoun and Wainui don’t necessarily have their strongest XI in these games or even many ‘CL2 players’ .
I see that Seatoun have already played Tawa, Wests 1sts and have a game scheduled against Olympic 1sts in a few weeks - more likely this is their CL2 team playing in these games.
A lot of “B” teams in this tournament are not actually the reserve teams. It’s common that they mix them up or change them completely in some cases. Bigboot

IBU beat the Wharf 4-1 and Phoenix beat Wests 5-1.
Today, Miramar beat Nth Wellington 3-0 maybe in Division 1.
Stop Out beat Wainui 2-1 in a soon to be CL2 match
