yes

(thus the reason I always seem to miss quarter final games)

Just to clear the air with regards to LH vs SV. Only one player from the first team actually played in the game. Lower Hutt should have played on the field rather getting point from the boardroom because of a player. A former LH player two season ago.

Ditto with Marist, none of the 1st team players will be playing in the match, that I know of (i mean, they've had 2 beatings, would you want them?)o

And in reply to the comment on the 6-0 victory marist seconds had against SV2, all of them were 2nd team players (though one may have sat on the bench for the 1sts, though he has played every game for the 2nds this year when available)

mate lower hutt  b knew nothing of the protest, it was the organisers and referee who noticed it. lower hutt dont deserve to go through anyway, not good enough! its pretty much a team of 3rd and 4th team players at the moment, its gonna be a long year in 08 shame since they had a good 1st year in premier in 07
i think wairarapa will beat lower hutt a , lower hutt have many missing and dont have a goalscorer like peter rabo!
wharfies, miramar and olympic to join rapa in semis

Todays winners.  Wairarapa (ten men after one of the Fijian lads was sent of for sending Nick van Hattum away from Memorial in an ambulance), United, College and Marist B.

Scores? Match reports? What happened to Van Hattum...?

I left at the half, so all I have is a text from Feverish with the winners.

Right leg, below the knee is all I can tell you.  Could have been an ankle or anything... but he was in quite some pain.

The Mar succumbed to United 2-1.  United scored through a dodgy penalty and a spectacular Keiichi Nguyen own goal (chipping ring-in goalkeeper Dicey from fully 40 yards) while the Mar played all the football.  Couldn't find a goal though (perhaps something to do with a lack of quality off the bench) so only had Zanotto's top corner bullet to show for all their effort.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Coll beat Wharfies 2-1 with a goal late in the game. Who said you can't win anything with kids.
Marist B beat UH B 2-0 i believe.
Might have been about 4-2 to Rapa. I think it was still going though - long hold up for NVH. Sounded like he was in unbelievable pain so hope you are ok fella.

Wairarapa won 4 2.
Late challenge on Van Hattum after he had cleared the ball from a pass back, sounds like it was a broken leg.

Yeah no disputing the penalty.  Ref had a fairly reasonable match.

My match report was supposed to read as tongue in cheek but clearly it didn't.

Facts are: Miramar played their Z team and failed to convert a significant amount of possession in the second half into an equalising goal. United defended well but failed to create a meaningful shot on goal and had to rely on the peno and a sh*t oggie to go through.

I watched the Marist game and can confirm it was 2-0....nothing particularly spectacular happening...

I was near the ambulance just b4NVM was driven away, he had a heavily strapped/braced ?left? ankle, and (though im guessing/hoping they'd given him some heavy pain killers) he seemed to be putting on a brave face and joking around a bit.

You can only beat the team the oppostition puts on the field.

True they had the better of the second half but most of the position was playing it along the back and acorss the midfield.  Didn't really create many shots on target.

So did lower hutt have a RGK, or did they use a  ring-in GK?

Smithy can't let your comment slide either. Miramar had most possesion but were tactically naive. Their best player Zanotto spent too much time getting the ball in deep positions where he was no threat at all. Look what happened when he lurked around in the box? A great goal. Why wasn't he told to keep pushing up front? And remember too, there was only one meaningful attempt on goal by Miramar outside the one that went in.

Neither team could create a meaningfull chance and the Mar couldn't get that 2nd goal after totally dominating position in the second and late in the first.

Hang on - you've both just agreed with me!

Or at least I agree with both of you!

Mar had loads of possession knocking it around the midfield but (despite bringing on super-sub striker) absolutely no pointy end.

And you're right - you can only beat the team they put out.

How much of that Wellington United team was first team squad?  That's the question...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
