Congratulations to Wellington College today, they thoroughly deserved the result. Was a cracking game. Fantastic to see that the 1st XI is so strong and they look more than capable of winning Nationals this year.DKP222008-03-30 21:35:36

Wellington United will, justifiably, feel they were hard done by.  The penalty that gave Fiji their equaliser was well won by the Wairarapa striker but could easily have gone either way.

Rather dodgy third goal too. Word from the sideline was that he was offside.  Having said that if the ball hadn't gone in I might have been lucky to stay on the field.  Nonetheless congrads to the rapa lads. On the day think they were probably the better side.  We gave the ball away far too much in our half (which lead to rapa's first goal).  No doubt they will be right up there this season.

Good to see they had a fair amount of support as well. I even managed to have a 'friendly chat' to a few of them on the banking.

As rightstriker said, Cheers to the petone club for the organisation.  they even supplied a runners up trophy.

Good call 2nd Best.  It was the local rapa supporters club that were on the embankment. I was one of them.  Would have been a bitter pill for young Steve Dornan to swallow considering he is from the Masterton Club and had played for United for a number of years, only to be replaced by an IMPORT!!  My hats off to you guys and Steve (for making a higher grade team), you made it entertaining to watch.  Now I will have to listen to Keinzley rabbit on about how good they are (considering he rated them as a 50/50 chance of winning the final in the press) and how they will win the league!!Happy times for me (yeah right)

So that was you give me the goalkeeping advice then   Unfortunitaly big stevie has been struggling with an ankle injury so he didn't make the playing squad.  Some would argue that we are saving our best player for the season proper

I was one of them that listened to you telling us how you were going to give our keeper some tips.  He obviously didn't listen to you.  But hey, i don't mind a bit of banter.  Makes the atmos.  And I'm not here to tell you that you lost, you already know that.

I hope for the sake of Steve, he does get back to full fitness and starts playing again.  When he was a part of the Wai United squad, everybody on this side of the hill rated him except Phil Keinzley.  I think it is wonderful how he has stuck with it and proved that he has the skill, determination and aptitude to go to higher honours than the honours (if any) he would have got over here.

Anyway, best of luck for the year, and lets hope you don't draw us in the Chatham Cup.

All the best.
