The KSC regulations talk about extra time and penalty shootouts if required, but scanning through them I couldn’t see anything about when that requirement kicks in other than the general statement that every round is a knockout round.
Seems it actually finished up 2-1 to Auckland United, the website must've been slow updating

I still like Feverish’s suggestion though, this needs to be added to the Laws of the Game.
Edit: And yeah the NZF site has sorted itself out now.

Aye, well done the team with the professionals, and the players that train 5 times a week that aren't proper pros yet win against another amateur team - NZF really do nothing for the credibility of their own competition by allowing professionals to compete against amateurs.
Oh and also congrats to Wellington Phoenix I believe they have won the Kelly Cup this season as rather than have an actually separate cup competition (or just not play it this season) it was decided recently that the wellington team that went the furthest in the Kate Sheppard Cup would win that trophy.
Given its NZ's oldest Women's trophy (52 years) it's a real shame it seems to have been relegated to an aside trophy.

Do the Ressies and out-of-contract first team players really get that much more training and opportunity than players at other clubs? That's a genuine question, not just being argumentative - I would've thought they have to fit training around work/study just like other players but I don't know much about how the academy works.
Even if playing for the Phoenix did give them an unfair advantage (and I feel like AUFC proves otherwise), what would balance things out? Options that come to mind are:
Change NZF's rule for amateur registration to require more than the current 30 days since last pro game - this seems like a blunt instrument since for example it would affect Abbott's availability to play for Karori in the WCL.
Change the rule specifically for this competition - begs the question of why it's ok in other contexts but not here.
Do what Capital Football have done in the WCL regulations and include an age restriction specifically for the Phoenix, which has the effect of (mostly) excluding out-of-contract pros without impacting other clubs in other competitions.
If this is actually a problem that needs fixing then the last option causes the least collateral damage, and it could be written to apply to Auckland's eventual ALW team or any other club that gets into a future women's OFCPL.
(As an aside, how does this work for the Weenix lads who've had A-league contracts but mostly play in the Reserves in the Central League? Are they on short-term contracts like the ALW players that allow them to re-register as amateurs in the off-season? That would lead to the Phoenix being required to pay their own academy training compensation when these guys go back on pro contracts, but who knows, maybe that's an important part of keeping the academy viable?)
I didn't know anything about the Kelly Cup before reading up on it this morning, but yeah it does seem a pity to downgrade it. Looking at past results the Phoenix have never won it - is that because they were never eligible under the old rules, or did the academy teams always get knocked out?
I was certainly surprised to see how strong the Phoenix line up was. If I was Waterside Karori I would be asking the question if all the players were eligible, in particular re:
KS Cup Regulations
8.4.6 All players competing in a match in the Competition must be amateur, as otherwise set out in more detail in the NZF Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.
and from the Regulations on Status and Transfer of Players ...
5.1 A Player registered as a professional may not re-register as an amateur until at least 30 days after their last match as a professional.
... and how that applies to players with multi year professional contracts.
I would also hope that it is something the Phoenix had checked before hand.
The only way I can see it being legal is that in the womens a league, I think the players contracts are 35 weeks. So for the case with players holding multi year contracts, for 17 weeks (52-35) of the years they are not contracted to the Phoenix, and so after 30 days they can goto the secretary of the club, "re-register" pay their subs, and play as an amateur for 13 weeks.
Does raise a few questions ...
If you are a professional with a multi year contract, why would you risk injury training and playing in an amateur competition ?
with a multi year contract, does your pay drop to $0 for those 17 weeks, or does you and your employer agree to amortise the amount over 52 weeks so you get the same pay packet every pay period for the length of the contract ?
what occupation does a an A-league player with a multi year contract put on their customs form when travelling internationally outside of the 37 week contract period ?
But we actually want to see our best players, playing in the NZ national leagues. I'd like to see more ALW players there particularly in the National round. Some have gone to play in Aus NPL. Whinham, Ingham, where there are heaps of ALW players and the level of competition is pretty good. Be good to see the likes of Maine, McMeekan, Lake playing in the national league. But not all playing for Phoenix reserve team. Representing there home town clubs. Its such a long off season for the women.
I'm pretty sure at the members' day back in April they said ALW players have no income outside the contracted 35 (soon to be 37) weeks, which causes them some obvious problems - I may be misremembering, especially regarding multiyear contracts, but that would fit with our players on Saturday being amateur under NZF's Status and Transfer of Players regulations:
3.2 A professional is a Player who has a written contract with a Club and is paid more for their footballing activity than the expenses they effectively incur. All other Players are considered to be amateurs. (My emphasis on the "and".)
This makes sense in the case where an amateur player has signed a contract for the following pro season but hasn't taken up employment yet; if the contract alone made them pro they'd have to immediately stop playing for their current club.
Of course I'm an amateur myself when it comes to understanding the rules, but I really, really hope the Phoenix would've confirmed everything with NZF before choosing their starting line-up.

This isn't the National leagues. The KS Cup (and Chatham) cups have their own set of regulations distinct from the regulations used for the various leagues. The league regulations do have their own distinct clauses for the participation of the Phoenix and Auckland FC and player eligibility.
Lara Wall turned out for Cashmere Technical as well. Bit tough on Otago Uni AFC who no doubt were a little weaker due to their annual problem of players leaving Dunedin for the holidays coinciding with the scheduled gap in the fixtures at the beginning of the year.

No one knew anything about the Kelly Cup until it was just handed to the Nix after. Shambles

Really disappointed to read about the lack of interest in the Kelly Cup. In the olden days it was a feature of the women's season and valued by the holders.
Don't piss off old people - the older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent

It’s been all over the show in the past couple of decades. This latest twist not helped by CF admin.
Wellington Phoenix Reserves vs Cashmere Technical is a banger... especially with Lara Wall popping up for Tech last week (maybe they can coax Annalie Longo too)
That tie also means there'll be a first-time finalist in the Kate Sheppard Cup https://t.co/CsRumGBBnG
Annalie was in the bench for the quarter final match - but as assistant coach, she is registered as player for Cashmere Technical as is Rebecca Lake.
Breaking my news for me!
Flea, Wall and Lake are all registered at Tech this season and able to play. Wall featured last week against Otago Uni while Longo may be available this week, and Lake when she returns to fitness.
Auckland United v Eastern Suburbs - Sat 16th 5:00pm, Keith Hay Park
Wellington Phoenix v Cashmere Technical - Sun 17th 2:00pm, Fraser Park
For anyone looking to make a day of it at one of the venues, the Auckland United men play their Chatham Cup semi against Nelson Suburbs at 2:00pm on Saturday, and the Nix U18 girls have a WCL match against PN Marist at 11:00am on Sunday.
Kate Sheppard Cup Final is officially announced to be played at North Harbour Stadium (No surprises there) along with the Chatham Cup Final on September 7.
Match order hasn't been decided yet (I guess in case no Auckland team makes the Chatham Cup final, then they can put that as the curtain raiser to the Women's match) but the first match will be at 1pm and the second at 4pm.
Both finals will be played on Sunday 7 September at North Harbour Stadium. The Delivereasy Chatham Cup final between Auckland United and Wellington Olympic kicks off at 1pm, followed by the Delivereasy Kate Sheppard Cup final between Auckland United and Wellington Phoenix Reserves at 4pm.
Tickets will be on Ticketek, but aren’t up yet as far as I can tell.
And it’s Finals day! Kick-off is at 4pm after the Chatham Cup final at 1. Both games will be on FIFA+ and if everything goes to plan you should see a YF banner in the background (credit to SamP93 who’s done the organising).
