Kelly Cup action - who'd be a ref?

i'm sure you have all heard 'play the whistle'...?
the reason the penalty taker attacked the ball (after it hit the back crossbar and bounced out of the goal) was that the ref hadn't called it yet, and i sure wasn't prepared to trust that the ref would make the right call... eventually.

Problem is, if it hadn't gone in and if the penalty taker had touched it a second time ie direct from the rebound of the post/crossbar, it would be an indirect free kick to the defending team.

Law 14 - The Penalty Kick

Procedure
the player taking the penalty kicks the ball forward
he does not play the ball a second time until it has touched
another player
the ball is in play when it is kicked and moves forward

Infringements/Sanctions

The kicker touches the ball a second time (except with his hands)
before it has touched another player:
an indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team, the kick
to be taken from the place where the infringement occurred

It wasn't Kelly Cup, Dairyflat - try the National Women's Knockout Cup.

Thanks for the info - helps with my round-up.

Uncle Toby's actually - unless Cap Fed had it wrong.  It was Mark Hewitt and he got it right on this occasion in my opinion.

Sorry, Mr Blobby, you're behind the times, and so is Capital Football, if that's the source of your info.

The Uncle Toby's title was stripped from the cup when Bluebird ended their sponsorship agreement with NZF. Ever since, and this would be a good three years now,  it has been known as the National Women's Knockout Cup.

Cheers,

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.
