Thought probably that the Selwyn player who initiated the situation, the Waimak player who reacted and the Selwyn CB who ran 60 metres to smash into the melee should have all seen red.

First was a yellow, other two reds.

From a Waimak perspective little bit embarassed by the "tool"but has to be said  that it helped us out as Selwyn coaching staff seems to focus more on him thaan the real issues. Thinks the comments about abuse are a bit one sided, We go to Selwyn and get Selwyn "tools"  setting up behind our keeper before being moved on by the ref. If you get to MPL and I hope you do you'll get bigger sideline distractions than us so you better learn fast.

Always said this year that Selwyn are the best side in the league and still believe that. Hope we can help them out next week with a result against Halswell.

Have to agree that the equalising goal was something special. But then again Dan Ede has done that to us a few times.

I am the one who stood behind the goal at foster park this season and we didn't get moved because A we weren't doing or saying anything and B the ref can't move us!! It's get in his head. I also would like to say how the keeper spoke to our ball boys was a disgrace which is why I started standing behind the goal but saying all that apart from his error yesterday for goals he is a very good keeper

This thread is called "Mainland Premier League" is it not? So until they make it there (fingers crossed they don't) can we keep the horrendous, mediocre chat about div 1 in another thread?

'So until they make it there (fingers crossed they don't)' ??????

More effort being put into growing the game by half of the CCL clubs than half of th MPL ones.

Some of the posts popping up here show times are changing and so will the clubs in MPL.

Have to agree with 2 touch. I came on here hoping to read about another Coastal Spirit meltdown and all I get is a debate about which country team has the bigger redneck supporters. Taking it back to the MPL, this forum has been remarkably quiet since the Coastal nosedive...anyone have any answers for me?

No no, let's keep hearing more about Div 1.

Hurunui currently leading Div1, closely followed by Halswell.. could be anyone's there.

Chat where ya like, don't read it if ya don't like it

Actually not chat where you like. Keep it on topic, follow the forum rules, and don't make me get banny.

CCL is one of the qualifying leagues, with the others at top of the Mainland Federation region.

Does any body know if any teams from the top off the Mainland league have expressed an interest in promotion to the MPL?

So with the rain predicted to flood everything in Christchurch, any groundskeeper buffs out there know how much these sand based pitches can take in terms of moisture? Likelihood of MPL and WMPL being moved to turfs maybe and CCL postponed?

You can't have played for long then. It's a winter sport have played games with snow falling also when you had to brush the white stuff off the lines for the game to go ahead.

Played last season at Garrick with water on 50% of the pitch. The CCC have panicked I can see blue sky out the window now.

Watch rugby get played as the council have opened 12 Rugby pitches and NOT ONE grass based Football pitch. the $$ must rule.

Only 30+ years - but I've never had this many games called off in one season.  I don't know about Rugby games tho - the local Rugby Park out here in Rolleston has pools of water on it

Seems to be the last few years they're very quick to call all games off except MPL.

I know a few years ago Mainland used to count all the grounds not closed and schedule games going down the grades one at a time. Don't seem to be doing that the last few years..(not possible this weekend of course).

In the first weekend of cancelled games there were plenty of grounds still open and this could have been arranged quite easily..seems to be too difficult nowadays??

I would have thought with all staff at Mainland they could organise this on a friday afternoon? Years ago this was even done on a Saturday morning.

Don't know about other clubs but we have several teams that now don't have enough weeks left to finish their leagues.

Hey fellas,

Long time follower but first time posting and would like to direct any of you who are interested over to my new website. I recently did an analyst on the Cashmere vs Ferrymead Bays game yesterday. Thought it would be fun and interesting to kind of 'over do' and recap of the game and how the game played out. The idea is not to have a recap for minute by minute but to touch upon key events from the match.

Hope its of enjoyment to some of you.
