Hang on, that sounds far too sensible :)
I wonder how Mainland will handle this one given their recent edict on 14/15 year olds playing PDL? They really are making a hash of things considering not too long ago there were several girls in that age group playing WMPL. When did the rule change where all clubs had to do was get written permission from their parents and approval from the club to play WMPL let alone PDL? And surely any confusion over the rule change as mentioned in the letter below, recently (13/03 - 3 weeks before the season starts) sent out to clubs, comes from them as they changed the rule without consultation with any club that I am aware of -
Hi all,
I understand there may still be some confusion over the age dispensation for female players registering for the senior leagues. Please find the following bullet points which should hopefully clarify the rules around dispensation.
·If a player is currently 13 turning 14 some time this year - please do not apply
·If a player is currently 14, and turning 15 this year, applications will be considered on a case by case basis using the following criteria;
-The player is a high performing established NTC player
-The player is of exceptional physical maturity and ability
All applications are considered and signed off by myself and the Federation Development Manager Alan Walker.
Here are two examples of dispensation requests and their outcomes for your reference;
1.Player born 8th April 1999 – applied for dispensation: This was denied as she is not involved in NTCs or known to show exceptional physical ability. However, as soon as she turns 15 she is eligible to play in the senior women’s leagues.
2.Player born 3rd June 1999 – applied for dispensation: Application was accepted as this player is exceptionally talented, recognised by NZF through her regular attendance at NTCs.
I hope this clarifies the dispensation rules. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Kind regards
Emily
