uni the new challengers to coastal in the wimmins league? beating tech who were quite decent last year
Finished Cashmere Technical 8 - Suburbs 0
This result equals the biggest away win since the MPL started in 2002. Two other away 8 - 0 wins both in 2002 with both Ferrymead Bays and Rangers defeating Woolston WMC.
The biggest win ever was also in 2002 when ChCh Technical defeated Woolston WMC 12 - 0.
Embarrassing. How are Suburbs that bad this year? Have the departures of Mark Johnston, Coey Turipa and Gagame Feni really hurt them that much? 8-0 loss at home to any team is bad, even if they are the best club in NZ.
Felt sorry for Nelson's centre back. Kept getting skinned by the Cashmere 9 every time they put a ball over the top, but nobody up the field seemed very interested (or capable) of putting pressure on and preventing the ball over. Cashmere won it in midfield by a country mile.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Sam Ayers + Ryan Stewart would be more effective out wide, but who then goes into the middle? Definitely need to look at some changes. Just don't think there's a ready made replacement.

Good to see them reporting on local football but some intriguing pieces of journalism in that, clearly not written by a natural footballer. Can't say I've ever seen a goalkeeper "smash a ball out of the air"!

I don't get why the Press/Dom Post give very minor reports on their top football leagues.

Yes I have questioned the Press a number of times about their poor website reporting and they have put it down to 'limited resources'. I also asked why they still have a Rugby League article from August last year and no football!
Any refs lucking on this tread as would like this explained, copied off the Misconduct page on the Mainland Wedsite.
| Ferrymead Bays Football Club | 22/03/14 | Y11. Unsporting Behaviour - Breaking up a promising opposition attack | 1 Caution |
Has then been a rule change that I have missed, throught it was the role of any player to breaking up a promising move, surely cannot be considered Unsporting Behavious. Note I have removed both the player and the refs name.
I'd assume it was breaking up a promising attack by using unsportsmanlike behaviour, which is entirely different.

I assume that as well but unsure why not just say caution for Unsporting behaviour, maybe not an offence if the attack was not promising
AW, you've had plenty of time; and no-one has bitten, so I will. Who's joining cashmere but not as a player? Time to put up or shut up.
Also, anyone know where clapham is plying his trade this winter. I've only heard " not Chch".

Don't know. Who cares anyway.

I see Friday's MPL game between Nomads and Coastal has been moved to ASB Football Park. If the rain continues maybe a few more games with be moved to ASB on the Saturday and Monday as well.
Not surprised with how wet Tullet Park gets! The main question is for all the other Senior Grades is whether they will have games going ahead.....

Council closed all grounds for training today so if games were call off a few teams maybe happy with the Easter Weekend.
Coastal closed their grounds only for a number of Rugby League teams to train on the football pitches. Go figure!

I believe The Halswell Game on Sat has also been moved to ASB so I'd say its probably likely. Id say there will be bugger all games on this weekend.
KB steps down as dragons coach. So AW is that your gossip? Keith back to cashmere in some capacity?

Your gossip was someone heading to cashmere in a non playing capacity; but you are yet to elaborate.

No Gossip, here is the link from the Press today, have also posed in the Canterbury United tread as well.

Tetso is the highest qualified coach in Christchurch (Anyone actually seen his A-licence?) Surely they'll be chasing him and his tie-in with the $$ at new Academy & proposed facility at Yaldhurst. ;-)
Lee Padmore from Selwyn would be the bloke for me. Watching them on a Saturday so far has impressed me (without breaking out of 3rd gear), running a great programme at both Selwyn and Waimak and seems young enough and qualified enough. Someone without many ties within Canterbury football will be just what's needed!

Agree. I haven't seen his team play yet. Speaking to guy at work who has a young one at Selwyn who keeps getting pushed along by coaching team there doing something correct for the game.
Padmore is the best kept secret in town, helped by Mainland's head in the sand attitude to Private Providers. Unless you're going to chuck in a couple of artificial pitches of-course.

Will cashmere have any serious competition this year?
