We will have to agree to disagree on that one!
Why was Sky money given straight to Garrick Park? Did an arguably worse affected club not sell their lack of facilities well enough?
There was a process followed at the council (I think it's the law that they have to), it involved consultation and input from interested parties. It required a bit of lobbying to the Council and individual Councillors. It was quite transparent and discussed in public meetings as far back as the Bob and Tony Show. Was Linfield successful as no-one else put forward a better solution in the area perhaps? Was there another reason?
I think the main point you are missing is that the vast vast majority of funding for this type of exercise is open to anyone via the Pokie trusts, it just needs a bit of collective effort from the club.
I'm not sure too many are slagging the quality of your pitch, It is in fact no worse than many others in the league, but I think you will agree it is less than satisfactory and limits your players in playing the way your coaching team wishes and in turn improving their skill level.
In my opinion people are not taking issue at your shitty (your word) pitch, it's the fact that you are whining about other clubs being proactive and improving theirs. It might just be time to put some pressure on the grounds owners (now that they have effectively rewarded football intended funding to a rugby club) to put some money where it is needed more.
There is a ground swell of football popularity at present due to a fantastic World Cup. The next best male players will be here soon, does your local Councillor know you were overlooked so a rugby club could benefit in years to come? Did they support the decision? Do they think you are still part of Linfield? Would they want it known by the whole population that they still support this decision?
Another Ronald MacDonald quote comes to mind "John Campbell!"
