HT in the quarter final ASB Chatham Cup tie in Dunedin between Dunedin Tech and Cashmere Technical. Ash Wellbourn had ball in net in the 40th minute but ruled out for off side.
Same for the Western second goal yesterday only that was further offside than AWs. :)

Watched some Inter-Church 2nd grade
A-Pink v Sabre Toothed Tithers. Great name I reckon.
Papanui had their 13th Grade and Pres B playing at Sth Brighton as well. No grounds available in the NW?
Saw a bit of Inter-Church as well at Edgar Mac, had 2 maybe 3 all in brawls involving flying karate kicks, punches to the back of the head, kicks to the chin from behind. Some real classy stuff...
Some seriously agitated individuals from both teams.
Very ugly scenes...

Hi Vim
I've put this on for you, not skiting about the good win. But to show you that the odt journalist shares your appreciation of the disco

Hi Broonie,
My Otago spies tell me that Dunedin Tech lumped the ball long all day, is this the style for any side with Technical in their name??

Hi Broonie,

On Sunday, CTech played a very direct style - mind you they are very good at it and the striker up top was outstanding.
DTech didnt have much of the ball but their wingers got in behind the fullbacks and certainly didnt lump the ball long all day, especially not to the same extent that CTech did.
While there is a tendency to play direct football on Dunedin pitches - where the centre circle often resembles a tough mudder course - I think it is a but harsh to state that every team whose strength is not the midfield "lumps the ball long all day".
Mind you, if an ""All White"" is playing in midfield, you'd expect a less direct style...
I think u might have been at the wrong game, we were aware of dt cb backs and full backs strengths in the air, so played most of the game through our midfield where the game was won not only in my opinion but odt journalist , dt supporters and coaching staff
hi vim thought u would see the funny side of that ... Tbh it wasn't one of Danny's better disco renditions

Not sure what game some people watch.
Dt did lump a lot of long balls they defended well under pressure in the first half when Ct had most of the play and a truck load of corners.
The width from the two outside runners and Danny Boys over lap caused Dt problems.
Don't know what game was on the Dt coaches mind when taking off their speedy striker as he at least giving the Ct backs some problems on a wet pitch.
Dt did hit the bar twice in the second half the second after a goal line or close to it clearance from Ct.
Two bad bits of defending by Dt gave Ct an easier last ten minutes than they should've had on the score board if not the well deserved score line.
Ct just a class above Dt in most parts but a good work out for both teams going forward none the less.
A home draw would be good from tomorrows draw.
The Chatham Cup should be a true all in not regional draw from the last 32 or at the very least 16 teams, what fun is in seeing the same teams year on year playing QF cup tie just becomes another glorified MPL/SPL game.
Funding I hear some clubs moaning alraedy. Go figure, Bowling clubs send teams over the country to compete for prize money on a regular basis just make the competition worth promoting toe a sponsor. How many people do we pay wages for in subs a levies to NZF.

Hitting the ball from the defence to the wingers or striker is not playing through the midfield. That is playing direct.
If the midfield then gets the second phase from the long balls, that is also not playing through the midfield. That is playing direct.
Also, if you were to read the ODT article again it does not say anything about CTech playing the game in midfield.
i think you'll find when I spoke to Wilson James he said your midfield won the game john, and the pace you played the game was as good as he'd seen in a while ,
But what game did u watch , r u sure u where there? Like I said all I heard from Dunedin FOOTBALL people was it was won in the midfield, but hey it's your opinion. Thanks for the hospitality
Tonight's English Cup Semi Final
Western 3 (A Pak L Marsland S Miles) Coastal Spirit 1 (G Turnbull) HT 0 - 0
Wow dramarama at the end of the match tonight. Western's manager came flying into Coastal's dugout and there was a bit of push and shove. Coastal's dugout gets a telling off and he gets sent off. (at least I think he was sent off he was told to 'disappear')
Ugly end to an exciting match.

Was a decent cup tie to watch on a crap day & even crappier pitch, Tekkers & Scottie Rd are pretty much spot on with what they said, Cashmere were very direct & very good at being direct, Ash Wellborn was a class act up front. The fat lad at left back only troubled Dunedin for the first 20mins or so (heard he lives with John Brown, can't be good for your health), Cashmere's left side was well nullified till late on when Ross Howard came off. The wee chubby right winger looked alright as did Nick Wortelboer, Clapham was ok but was expecting a bit more from an All White, he did score however.
Cashmere will be too good for Onehunga in the semi
bookside
You r a class act another person who probably hasn't a clue about football slagging people's weight or lifestyle or calling people idiots but hide behind a nickname . The reason is because if people knew who u really are no doubt they would say don't worry about him he hasn't a clue and is the real idiot .
You might even be that nice fellow in the crowd that called me a fat Scottish wanker.

So insulted babe, I was way fatter last year. Anyway did you not see how shattered they were after 21 minutes? That was not due to our fit players that was the fat left backs 1st 20 minutes deffo. Don't forget the cross for the 2nd goal. And sorry about the weight I'm trying to sort it for my next holiday. Love you

You need the odd 'lump' in your team if you want to lump the ball forward all day.
Western played some good stuff last night, well deserved win.Sam miles and Hamish will be a loss when they goes, shame not available for Can utd. But fantastic they have a great opportunity in the states, good luck to them booth
