No I do not hate CTFC or the fact that they win games. No I did not see the CC game as I was working. I'm not sure your reaction to GG's line of thinking was quite where he was hoping the discussion would lead too. Or at least the tone I picked up from his questioning I did not read as either an accusation or confrontational.

FWIW I coach players younger than who GG most interacts with and while a number have expressed a lot of interest in playing Prems for Coastal very few actively go and watch MPL. Does Carlos, Craig, Pete's teams all have big attendees for your games John? If not, do you think the "quality" of football is part of the reasoning? That's a genuine question , not a dig.

Would MPL (and WPL) be 'better' if lots of junior players attended each week? Would it be both a positive and learning experience? Could Senior coaches make it more so? Are any players from the 2012 FTC intake starting to play MPL? Is it reasonable to suggest that in 4-5 years time 50% of MPL players will be out of FTC? If so will the 'standard' or 'quality' of football be better or worse?

Or given the state of the pitches will it matter haha.

post edit, thanks for changing your previous one John.

foal who said you hated ctfc

er, no one but I'm known as Coastal club member so thought I'd better throw it out there. If people suspect sour grapes it often shuts down any chance for productive dialouge.

btw CC Final 2013 I was cheering all the way for CTFC despite Waitak playing "better" football.

So application of the quality marker is not always indicative of consistency :)

Ctfc do a great job in improving the standards of our club . In fact we are having our Nike cup team train ,Craig's team ,with us tonight. And each week we have a team as ball kids

I can't answer your clubs question foal ,why you don't have kids going down, at least to be ball kids . As there was none on Saturday . The one thing coastal do well is stick together on yf.

No I don't think kids not attending is due to football styles or the coastal way or hoff ball. When it was southern league it was the same . Unfortunately a lot kids parents do other things in the afternoon or play themselves , you'll see a lot of kids at masters games . Is it for the style of play or to be with dad, plus winter conditions don't help

I have not heard any kids or parents say they don't go because the football is shit , have you experienced this at coastal?

Also on your mate gg , I'm afraid if you look at his posts he is a glass half empty person. Slags all clubs esp tech and mainland

The trouble with a lot of people is they hide behind nicknames and slag the standard but when we have open forums it's same people  standing to improve the game.

Your FTC question if we had a South Island to improve the standards the top young players could play then the balance could possibly play mpl.

But playing a lot of young players doesn't improve the game, sometimes u lose them to the game.

Look at the can utd team when they went for youth . They finished last which is acceptable if they progress as players, but how many of that team are still playing.

not sure about BallBoys for weekend just been, but each week we have various junior teams in that role.

good the 14's are having a run with you.

football is about winning. who cares how you get the result. I prefer the long ball game more chance of scoring than if playing this pass the ball round shit. How can someone say Waitakere were the better team in CC final? Clearly weren't as they lost, tech played the way they had to, to win the game which is the most important thing

Style of football is unlikely to be the primary driver of junior attendance at MPL however I think GG's point or raising of such is valid and worthy of some thought.

"MPL is shit", have heard that said on here. Wouldn't appear to be specific to one club.

I don't think GG slags anyone too much, or any more so than some others? Sometimes I think he has very good points. Especially considering the handicap of being a MUFC supporter.

Forum anonymity. Yes, can be frustrating, the old adage holds true, don't say online what you wouldn't say in person. FWIW I don't think there are too many keyboard warriors on here.

South Island ( I assume you mean a new league above MPL) yes I'd like to see it reinstated. Not sure my feelings on this are in the majority however.

"Lots of younger players doesn't improve the game". Maybe not, but if the MPL is "shit" and then that "shitness" is due to the style of football then  the younger players with supposedly better touch, tech, vision & awareness must/should make a better football spectacle?

Dragons failure with Korosh. I don't know who is up to what from that squad. I do know that by not winning the experiment wasn't going to be ongoing as the marker for success is result driven for many punters. Kiwifan seems to have worded this succinctly above :)

and thanks for your thoughts to John.

Yep. Seeing the same goal scored 3 times at one end and four at the other is awesome.

DE of SELWYN via Cash Tech,Halswell & Burnside will never play for THE DRAGONS until his attitude to training changes. Dragons train 3 days a week plus Sat morning for an hr and then Sunday game DE might just make the Sat morning run but he would be late, pull up injured and leave early.......wasted talent

The Coastal Ladies after winning  last years final had nowhere to celebrate so they were made welcome at CT clubrooms with free food & drinks, Gunny was even invited up to speak on behalf of her team. At some stage your club needs to invest in an infrastructure of grounds, changing facilities & club rooms, at the moment what you provide is woeful. What success you have may walk along the road and it could all end up at CT.

Thanks for your positive feedback and providing free food and drinks.

As I said previously, if by investing in grounds and facilities that means receiving half a mill in free funding from FIFA, CCC, Sky and others, and using a WMC as a clubrooms then I'm all for it.  As for players walking up the road, we all know what helps them get pulled towards the light.

as I've been busy coaching my sons team then coached ( long kicking was the theme tonight ) my team I then watched the bays v nomads game, so First time to check what has been slated on tech  now,

So far I can see we have been sponging money off people  ( heard that several times before)same person

Wee connotations from vim regarding cash for players( heard that several times before ) same person , no substance

The young ctfc 14 team really enjoyed working with the first team and learning off  the senior players, the two young lads who are in 17s training squad trained with us  to give them a good hope of making final cut, really impressive young lads

As far as ball kids we actually never had any in the game at linfield earlier in the league, but no biggy, the funny thing about the game at the weekend was my 3 kids were fetching the balls along with other junior players that we there from tech, when the ball went out to the the rugby field the coastal barked at my son get the ball from the other side , I told him to get coastal to fetch but they weren't there to do it as no kids and no ball kids

foal as you state it's a shit league with shit coaching and tech are shit team ,what changes do u  think is needed to improve and getting our best young players to nz  hounours

dan ede always trained last year apart from injury and has still got plenty of time to make dragons squad wether it be this year or not.

dan ede is great lad to have in your team, I was disappointed he left but he is top lad and had his reasons. He will always be welcome back at tech

I'm pretty sure the boys from Selwyn (very young squad) would say they benefitted from dan Ede being there this year. Heard Padmore let him go because of his aspirations. Surely that sort of loyalty will be repaid?

I did not say or imply that I believe "it's a shit league with shit coaching and tech are a a shit team".

I've only seen CTFC play once this season and that wasn't against Coastal.

Pleased Craig's team enjoyed the run.

Improvements for MPL? Haha, there is a can of worms.

Dan was a great addition to the Selwyn team. He got on well with all of us and the banter flowed like it had any other year. Was really enjoyable from a person point of view to have him in the team. From the footballing point of view a very talented player who gave his all for his team.  Was injured a couple of times during games amd tried hard to play on. Would then come to training that Tuesday and Thursday to come and watch/help out even if wasn't able to run round with us. No worries with his attitude to training,  even if it must have been frustrating playing with guys who didn't have the same ability as what he was used to. We would have him back in a second for Dan as a person, both footballing and social.

Easy to work out that you must be part of cash tech set up. Seen as JB already here that leaves Nicholls or Price

well Paul is his uncle and would never say that about his nephew, and pricey is a huge fan of danny.

Who ever said it is a twat but definitely not involved with Tech as everyone I know have soft spots and are fans . Since 99% are coastal members , could be one pretending to be a friend or pricey knowing he is a spurs fan

Yer that's a good one. The Yid hassles the shit out of Coastal's fields, facilities and promotes the fact you provided free drinks and food.

Own him, he's yours!

yes vim I forgot your judge jury and the execution on this coastal forum sorry mainland forum, Yid could be a tech person but certainly any  one involved in and around the first team, as Danny is held in high regard by players and management . Again like some of your mates he or she hides behind a key board and is gutless . I'm open book and if you ask Dan , he has been at Tech for years on and off, he would be welcome back any time , we only had a chat last week about his future.

VIM......not owned by anyone. Like to watch all sports of a high quality especially football but not limited to just 1 sport. Actually my club is ChCh Utd  but have a grandson who now plays at Cash Tech after the merger. He has been a ball boy on a number of occasions so I know CT provide ball boys for big games unlike Coastal which demonstrates again a lack of infrastructure in that club. DE of Selwyn  you know your not a good trainer so it's up to you having the ability is one thing but you take the easy options. You want to play for DRAGONS well why you playing in that league where the new coach will never see you play.

so foal one question I have for you and gg

Since you ask me some and I openly answer , I know how we train and set up to play, and I think we are one of the best teams to watch in MPLs excistance. Not my opinions but Nelson are open in thier commented and others, because of the  success ,we tend to play teams who try's to stop us playing rather than try to beat us  with exception of uni bays and a very good Nelson team , but hey that's just  my opinion and some others .

So what sort of football do we try and play? If you both are genuine readers of games , and can see what we set out to do?

How can you two lads help Coastal improve the mpl?

If I'm honest and my mate Hutchy agreed the worse mpl game we have seen was when Nomads played coastal 0 0 at asb early this year which nomads should have won

VIM   When your on a pension it's very nice to get a free drink & food.  I remember a classic Chatham Cup semi final at Rangers park many years ago V's North Shore. John Hansen scored early on a very wet & windy day in ChCh there was no football played that day but the result was what  counted, they got to the final and for that team that's all that counted. I saw a few of those old Rangers players at ASB for last years final bet they didn't care how the game was played only the result. You can only play pure football if the opposition allows you and NZ football is based on PASSION you going to change what's in our DNA

heard the game you mention was dire. Coastal v Bays at Cuthbert's probably wasn't any better.

as before I have not been watching a lot of MPL this winter and pretty sure I have only seen 1 CTFC match

but for sure next time I watch CTFC I'll offer an answer

Improve the MPL - better coaching at Junior grades, clubs having a philosophy or plan that juniors get to participate in from first kicks, scheduling of games (MPL/ WPL should be stand alone times) PDL needs changing/tweaking , MPL needs Waimak and Selwyn and soon.

specific to Coastal - better involvement of local community. For whatever reasons our % of members local is not as strong as it should be.

Facilities although as Brother Vim has attempted to point out some of this is tied up with decisions other people may or may not make. Might sound like whinging but eg: Pages Rd is only entrance to Cowles Stadium, so lets dig up the road then decide it can be left for 6 months.

heaps more to do.
