Coastal have been on a decent run since their 2-1 loss to Cashmere Technical on 28th April, winning the last 8 straight across league and 2 cups: 4-0, 5-0, 1-0, 5-1, 5-0, 6-0, 4-0, 6-0. Will be interested to see Cashmere's line-up for the cup match on Saturday.

But their goal difference before that would have been average. Plus how many times do we see Coastal choke in the big games. Tech have had players come back from holiday early for this one. Too much firepower for Coastal.

You fail to understand the choke concept. It applies to players/teams in the lead. Coastal will only be ever be underdogs at this stage.

After scoring a couple he was taken off so he could come and stand by me. He'll be ready to go for Satdy don't you worry about that.

We know we're the underdogs for Satdy, no problem with that. I'm sure Bet365 will prove this also. This is our best chance to beat them ever, despite beating them twice last year. It's gonna be a cracker!

The draw is on Mainland Football's website, although it might be busy having all the games at the same venue, at the same time. Happy not getting Tech in the draw!

To be fair, can you name a better way to spend an early Tuesday evening?

Back to basics will be fine, from what I saw they've got it down pat so should be a cracker of a game. I'd expect Cashmere to play another high pressing game and try and force errors up the park as Coastal try and play out but Ekow's got that sorted. The young lad Gerathy is an awesome prospect and the goal from Liam Hare was well worth the entrance money. Best Coastal men's team I've seen since they started and building some formidable momentum, the two best teams in Canterbury by miles at the moment going head to head in the cup will be a great game to watch. Keep an eye on the fixtures though, any more rain and it may go to English Park.

Safety first I've heard, 3 nil up first half why risk him any more.

So Coastal lose their home ground advantage (the vagaries of playing on Council owned Cuthbert's Green). Does the club get the chance to recoup lost earnings via running a BBQ or after match bar?

Hopefully live tweeting from both clubs. Any plans for a live Facebook stream, like Canterbury did for the Youth league last season?

Coastal on a good run, but Cashmere unbeaten across all competitions this year, 8 players in the Dragons training squad, plus Clapham. Terris wasn't listed as a Tech player on the Dragons announcement for some reason. Has he played many club games this year? How old is he now?

Hope there's a good crowd; and the winner will be repping Chch in the last 16 of the Cup.

Awesome game, great atmosphere. A game of half chances and missed chances. Ding dong battle, good luck to Cashmere Tech in the next round.

CTFC completely dominated normal time and extra time, played for a great part of the game with only 10 players through the lack of VAR then blew CS away on penalties!!!

Maybe not, maybe not their best performance, they will be disappointed as will CS. I have seen both teams play better but as can happen both teams had players who did not produce when they should have done better and both teams spoiled some good football with good defence. It was a battle, not a great game.

Highlights, the shoot out. Knighty amazingly picked the right way every time got a hand to 4 good penalties, saved 3 and pulled CTFC out of a mess, along with AC's penalty, James had done well and dived 4 times to make 2 good saves, AC let him move and tucked it away

 on the 5th.

Enjoyed the battle, not the spectacle and Christ it got cold.

Good luck James, thanks for your contribution to NZ Football, liked your work.

Looking back on the stats Cashmere Technical have not loss a game in the Chatham Cup to another Christchurch side since their merger in 2011, ceretainly pushed hard today and have now won the MacFarlane Cup, for the last remaining Christchurch left in the cup for a eighth straight year.

The MacFarlane Cup was donated to the then Canterbury Football Association by former Christchurch Mayor and MP, Robert MacFarlane.

Any other comments on the Cup game? Or is it all about the relegation battle now, with Cashmere cup run in the Chatham Cup thread. Any last minute players moves to be revealed this week ? Still the Womens, South Island League and Qualifying League battles to play out too. Er, weather permitting.

If it's who I'm thinking of she waited until the end of the game before turning round and giving us a serve and telling us to check the scoreboard. I didn't hear swear words however anyone, male or female, is probably asking for some retort when firing up 50 fans who had just lost by the slightest of margins.

The scoreboard said 0-0 anyways. :-)

She was a typical cup game with two top teams.

Could of gone either way!

Was fantastic to see as we need more competitive games like this week in week out.

I didn't hear that as I went behind the goal for the spot kicks, so can't really comment.

I enjoy clever and witty banter at football games, its all part of the fun and some of the stuff being said on the bank is often hilarious but straight out abuse is not cool especially when theres kids about. I guess people get carried away sometimes by emotions.
